What began as a war between a US-Israeli alliance and Iran has enveloped much of the Middle East, with drone and missile strikes hitting Arab nations that host US assets and missions, as well as Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. US officials say this won't be another Iraq, but they warn that the war isn't over yet.

00:02The skeleton of the Gandhi hospital in Tehran has withstood a U.S. or Israeli strike.
00:07But that's about it.
00:09The medical center is in ruins.
00:11Collateral damage in a war supposedly aimed at taking out Iran's nuclear and missile programs.
00:19Nearby residents, who've lost windows and more, are still in shock.
00:24I was sitting watching the news when suddenly the chandelier in the house fell in front of me
00:30and then thick smoke filled the entire place.
00:33And then doors, windows, and a lot of my stuff broke.
00:39Iranian missiles scream over Haifa, Israel, early Tuesday as Tehran hits back.
00:45What's left of Iran's leadership wants revenge.
00:48Deadly barrages like these are driving life in parts of Israel underground.
00:56It's the Jewish festival of Purim.
00:58And in this parking garage in Tel Aviv, a makeshift party is underway.
01:03The Iranian missiles overhead lend a sense of irony not lost on people here
01:08as they gather to hear the story behind the holiday.
01:11It's the story of Haman, who was an evil person who tried to kill all the Jews of Persia many
01:18years ago.
01:19So that's how we start the Jewish holiday here of Purim.
01:22And it's really extra special this year.
01:25First of all, we're in a bomb shelter, so we really feel something special.
01:29But it's also, we're in the middle of a war with Iran.
01:32And it's talking about someone who wanted to kill all of the Jewish people of the time.
01:36But if this started out as a war between a U.S.-Israeli alliance and Iran,
01:40it's now spread far beyond that.
01:46Iran is striking Arab neighbors that host U.S. military sites and diplomatic missions.
01:51Recent targets appear to include the U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia.
01:55But it's hitting civilian targets in the process, too.
01:59Here, Qatar intercepts yet another Iranian rocket over its capital, Doha.
02:03Iran's foreign minister says these strikes are justified.
02:09We don't seek to regionalize the war.
02:11It will become regional simply because U.S. bases and facilities are spread across our region.
02:15When the United States attacks us, whether by jets or the ships it deploys,
02:20they have access to our territory to strike with all kinds of missiles and aircraft.
02:24We cannot reach their territory, but we can reach their bases.
02:28And Iran is using oil, one of the region's key exports, to ratchet up the pressure.
02:33It's declared this narrow waterway just to itself, the Strait of Hormuz, closed.
02:37And it's vowed to fire on any ship trying to pass through.
02:41A fifth of the world's oil passes through this strait.
02:44And with traffic halted, this regional war has become a global economic headache as oil prices spike.
02:55Iran's not the only one spreading the war.
02:57Israel is hitting neighboring Lebanon, where Iranian proxy group Hezbollah still has a stronghold.
03:03The death toll across the region is rising, and more countries are being swept in.
03:09In the U.S., questions are mounting over where this is all going.
03:13Trump administration officials say they're not interested in regime change.
03:16They say this won't be another Iraq.
03:19But Warren, the war's not over yet.
03:21The next phase will be even more punishing on Iran than it is right now.
03:24Someone was screaming, how long will it take?
03:26I don't know how long it'll take.
03:27We have objectives.
03:28We will do this as long as it takes to achieve those objectives.
03:31But Democrats are skeptical.
03:33Donald Trump has just launched America into a full-scale conflict against one of our most fervent
03:39adversaries without a plan, without an endgame, and without authorization for Congress or even
03:46a debate in full view of the American people.
03:50As the airspace over the Middle East clears out, and those with the passports to do so evacuate,
03:56the people left behind face drones and missiles, with no one able to say when peace might return.
