00:00Today on Media Missed Minute, Senator Rand Paul is calling immigration leaders on the carpet.
00:04At the same time, a court is expanding federal agents authority on the ground.
00:12I'm Craig DeGrali. Welcome to Media Missed Minute, where we flag important stories
00:17falling through the cracks of partisan coverage. Today, oversight on one front and more power
00:23on another. Starting with what's being missed by right-leaning outlets. Republican Senator
00:28Rand Paul is demanding oversight, calling the heads of ICE, CBP, and U.S. Citizenship and
00:34Immigration Services before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, which he chairs. Paul is
00:40framing the hearing as a budget oversight, a review of how congressionally approved immigration
00:45enforcement funds are being used. The hearing is set for February 12th. It's a rare moment of GOP-led
00:52scrutiny of immigration agencies, and it's drawing little attention in right-leaning media.
00:57Now to what's being missed by the left. An appeals court has removed limits on federal
01:03law enforcement's ability to use force against anti-ICE protesters in Minnesota. The court said
01:09a lower court judge's order restricting ICE agents from arresting or retaliating against protesters was
01:16overly broad and vague and should not stand. The result? Federal agents now have wider latitude
01:22during protest operations, a decision getting far less attention in left-leaning coverage.
