00:25Para mí, we tried a couple of different things and then kind of settled on like we were
00:29like, I talked to Daniel Chong, the director about like, how do you want this?
00:33And like, you know, like, I was on another cartoon with him where I kind of use a voice.
00:37So it was like, we got to stay away from that.
00:39And we kind of just landed on a kind fatherly voice.
00:45But like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:46We were, but you also just look at the picture and you go, that's how I like to see the
00:51picture
00:51of it as quickly as possible because I like to look at it and know what I might sound
00:56like.
00:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:57For me, I mean, I think, I think what got me the job was just who I was, you know,
01:04and
01:04I think Daniel responded to that for whatever reason and, you know, and I think the reason
01:08as I figured out as we, you know, went on in this process was that like Mabel feels very
01:13much like who I am and vice versa.
01:16And, um, and I think it was pretty easy.
01:19Like I, I didn't have a process like that where we were sort of like, do I do a voice?
01:22Do I not do a voice?
01:23Like I just kind of went in and did it.
01:24Um, and I do know that like, there's a slight difference between my voice and Mabel's voice.
01:30Um, it's just a little bit more intense, which I think is great because Mabel is a little
01:35bit more intense than I am.
01:36So like, this is my regular voice, but when I'm doing Mabel, I'm like this, you know, and
01:40it's just like a little bit more.
01:42With more sugar.
01:43Yeah, exactly.
01:44More sugar.
01:44There you go.
01:46Um, so, so yeah, I think for me, the biggest key to it was like implementing those bits
01:52of myself into the character for sure.
01:55Let's welcome Mabel, everyone.
01:58Mabel, they can't know you're a human.
02:01She found the button.
02:02How different is like doing comedy in front of the camera and be doing voiceover?
02:07Uh, it's completely different.
02:08I mean, like, uh, uh, I like animation because you, you, I get cast as things I would never
02:13get cast as in, as in, in live action.
02:16Uh, uh, uh, stuff like that.
02:18Like, uh, also it's just very freeing.
02:20You don't have to worry about what you look like.
02:23You often roll in in pajamas.
02:25Uh, uh, and, and, and yes, it's, it's not physical, but I like to, I just pictured myself
02:30in one of those long winter hats.
02:32Yes, yes, in like full, full pajamas I like to go in.
02:35Uh, no, but like, it, it, it, it, it's, get to focus on one thing and that's the acting
02:40and sounding the way you're supposed to and that's very freeing.
02:44Yeah, I mean, it was really different.
02:46He's done more voiceover work than I have.
02:48It was definitely a very different ballgame for me.
02:51Um, so to me, it was just sort of like learning how to feel comfortable in that space and feeling
02:55like I was actually doing a good job.
02:58You know, I think the first few times I was like, I would walk away being like, oh, I think
03:01I sucked and I was bad and I was like, and then after a while I was like, okay, I
03:06have
03:06the job for a reason, you know, like, I think I would have been fired by now if I was
03:11that
03:11bad, you know?
03:12And so, um, so yeah, I think it was just an experience of building that confidence in
03:18myself in a new area.
03:19You created a fake animal.
03:21Yes.
03:21Which makes the other animals think you're an animal.
03:24Yes.
03:24This is like Avatar.
03:26This is nothing like Avatar.
03:27With the kind of energy that this movie has, like a lot of sugar, like, yes, the pacing
03:33is amazing.
03:35Eventually, both of you lose their voice.
03:38For me, it's just doing it all day long.
03:42We would go in for a couple hours.
03:43So even if we're just doing a couple lines and they're quiet, it's, we've done them
03:48for six hours.
03:49So sometimes it would be that.
03:52And also, at one point, I think I was on like a couple cartoons at a time.
03:55So you're going day to day, you're going like, hi, how are you?
03:58And like, I'm not a, there are professional voiceover people who like know how to train
04:03their voice.
04:03That's not me.
04:04My wife was on Broadway.
04:05She can like, she can sing.
04:06She knows how to treat herself well.
04:08I just scream like a lunatic.
04:10For me, I mean, Mabel yells a lot, quite a lot more than George does.
04:16And so there were, there were some days where I was just like, oh my God, I've just been
04:20yelling for four hours.
04:22And like, when have I ever done that, you know?
04:25And so mostly the beginning of the movie where she's like trying to get people to sign up,
04:29to sign her petition and she's fighting with Jerry and like all of that stuff was definitely
04:34very high energy.
04:35And by the end of the day, I was like, I think I'm done talking for the next 12 hours.
04:39I realized I usually get cast as your part.
04:42Like I usually get cast as the maniac one, not the calm dad voice of reason.
04:46I'm getting old.
04:47Yep.
04:47Yeah.
04:49Fellow animals, humans have stolen their last inch of land from us.
04:53We got to fight back.
04:54Let's squish the humans.
04:56Wait, uh, squish?
04:58Do you learn something new or funny about beavers doing this movie?
05:02Um, I learned that if you touch a beaver on the back of the ear, it explodes.
05:13That's crazy.
05:14Can you believe that?
05:15Don't do it.
05:16Don't do it.
05:18I learned that beavers leave something, I think, correct me if I'm wrong, because I probably
05:23am, called a smell mound near their lodges or their dens.
05:29Okay, same.
05:29And it's just like a big clump of dirt.
05:32It does kind of look like a pile of poop, but it's just dirt.
05:35And, but they like, essentially they fart on it.
05:38Like, they, they spray an odor on it to be like, this is beaver territory.
05:44Yep.
05:44We are here and we will not be leaving.
05:47Sea hoppers on March 6th.
05:49Smell a mound.
05:51Ooh.
05:54Yikes.
05:56So, to wrap, the movie talks about, okay, now this feels different.
06:03Yes, yes, yes, yes, very much so.
06:06Your life is in danger.
06:08You must do exactly as we say, Harry.
06:10The movie talks about friendship, your relation with nature, the danger of the power in the wrong
06:16hands.
06:17So, one thing that you want, do the audience take away after the movie ends?
06:24I hope that they will be kinder to each other.
06:26I hope that they will take some time to slow down and, and, and think about how helping
06:32each other might be the way to move forward.
06:34Yeah.
06:35And in that same vein, I hope people talk to each other, you know, because it's sort
06:38of like, how can we figure out that there's a solution that we both want if we don't talk
06:42about it and talk about what we both want and how we want to get there.
06:45And I think that's a huge part of how Mabel and George end up joining forces, is they
06:50just, they just talk.
06:51They just talk about what they want and what they like, and it makes something really beautiful.
06:55Oh, that's nice.
06:56Yeah.
06:56Well, thank you very much.
06:58Thank you.
06:58I will try to not touch the ear.
07:01Don't, don't.
07:02Thank you.
07:02There you go, yeah.
07:03Be very careful.
07:04Thank you so much.
07:06Quiz!
07:07Quiz!
07:08Ah!
07:10That was intense.
07:12Disney and Pixar's Hopper.
07:13Sweetie PG.
07:15Yeah.
07:18It's incredible.
07:21No.
07:21Yeah.
07:23My mind.
07:24Gracias.
