00:00Being highly susceptible to severe damage from typhoons and heavy rains,
00:04strawberry farms in La Trinidad are transitioning to a new planting method.
00:08That's the Japanese-inspired technique of elevated planting.
00:11This new method raises the strawberry beds,
00:14preventing immediate flooding and saving crops that would otherwise be lost.
00:18The adoption of elevated planting has been promoted by Benguet farmers who trained in Japan.
00:23This is expected to boost strawberry production
00:26and safeguard the livelihoods of local farmers from the effects of extreme weather.
