00:00How can Germany have millions of people without jobs and be short on workers at the same time?
00:05Yeah, it's frustrating. We're at 136 applications now. This is the diploma for mechanical engineering.
00:14I'm searching for over a year now. Here's the thing, some German industries aren't as promising
00:19as they used to be. Car manufacturing, for example, used to be a fairly safe bet,
00:23but now the industry is struggling. Everybody told us, mechanical engineering,
00:27you will always get a job. Yeah, it doesn't seem like that now.
00:32Right now, there's high demand for nurses, teachers, child care workers, skilled creative people,
00:36and also physiotherapists, hospitality staff and retail employees.
00:49That's why on one hand, millions are unemployed. And on the other hand,
00:53the labor market is in desperate need of skilled workers.
00:55And the German economy isn't doing job seekers any favors.
00:59Companies are hesitant to hire because economic growth is sluggish.
01:02There are tariffs, trade conflicts, supply chain issues, high labor and energy costs.
01:06Recent graduates are finding it especially hard to get hired,
01:09as AI is taking over many tasks, once integral to entry-level jobs.
01:13Though, there is something that's increasingly valued by companies.
01:24Now you know why Germany has this mismatch in its labor market.
01:27Have you had a similar experience applying for jobs?
01:29Jahren, schools, private sector, popular industry, shops.
01:30How do you know why makes making races will be done?
01:30Three years in Israel.
01:32Angels, people unseen their jobs,
01:32never been done,
01:33we're not feeling clean.
01:33Since 8 years in Daniel,
