00:00Let's go to the Big Ten and let's get to Purdue.
00:03Are they back?
00:05Is it time that we start looking at Big Ten?
00:07This becomes such an intriguing storyline, right?
00:10Purdue has quietly leaned on their three-headed mantra of attack.
00:14Braden Smith, as you see right there, the best point guard in the country
00:17with his pace, his playmaking, and his assist creation.
00:21Fletcher Lawyer with his perimeter spacing and his late shot making.
00:25And then there's Trey Kaufman-Wren,
00:26an interior scorer and rugged rebounding presence.
00:30So what has changed now?
00:33See, if you look at Purdue, they're in a bottom, I think, 150 in pace.
00:38So they rely on half-court offense.
00:43Well, Smith is controlling that instead of forcing things.
00:47Fletcher Lawyer is taking smarter shots.
00:50And Trey Kaufman-Wren is establishing a post position
00:54instead of drifting out to perimeter.
00:57When those things are aligned with Purdue,
01:00their offense just naturally flows.
01:03Recently, they've improved their offense efficiency, better shot selection,
01:07and their defense has been sharper than it was during earlier on in the season.
01:12Purdue is at its best when Braden Smith dictates rhythm,
01:15and they play inside-out through Kaufman-Wren.
01:18Again, if this 300-monster stays efficient,
01:22Purdue is absolutely not only a second-weekend conversation,
01:26but they could be the team we thought they were before the season started.
01:30And that's honestly a true championship contender.
01:34Speaking of the championship contender,
01:37let's go to the SEC with the defending national champion Florida Gators.
01:41Let me ask you this, folks.
01:44Is this deja vu?
01:46Because to me, as a coach,
01:48this seems very familiar that we're seeing this story.
01:54Last year, about this time,
01:56they got really hot.
02:00And they're doing it again this year.
02:03But they're doing it in a different way.
02:08So you want to say same formula, play great,
02:11but it's a different mentality.
02:13It's the front court.
02:15So you see those guys right there,
02:17Zabian Lee, Boogie Flan?
02:19They've been good.
02:20But it's the front court.
02:22It's Thomas Howell.
02:24It's Chinilu.
02:26It's Alex Condon.
02:28How do they win games, folks?
02:31Number one, they kick your tail on the boards offensively.
02:34With Ruby Chinilu being one of the best offensive rebounders in the country.
02:37Their inside scoring with all three guys,
02:41and playing of all three allows you to create mismatches
02:44with one of them going inside.
02:45But it's also their physical defense has come to play.
02:49They're not just relying on perimeter fireworks last year like Walter Clayton.
02:53They're winning through front court dominance.
02:56That's what's different.
02:58More, better composure.
03:00Better rotations.
03:02More trust in their half court offense.
03:04They aren't flashy.
03:06They're tough.
03:07And when their front court can control tempo,
03:10you dictate the game.
03:11Florida doesn't need to out-shoot you.
03:13They just need to out-muscle you.
