00:00Want to know how that socialist experiment is going in the nation's most populous city?
00:04Well, New York's Democratic Socialist Mayor, Zoran Mamdani, has announced he is ready to blow
00:1070 million bucks on a feasibility study for city-run grocery stores. They were, of course,
00:16his pet project on the campaign trail last year. This is the same guy who says the city is poor
00:21and he needs to raise taxes to refill New York's bank account. As a reminder, Hissner wants these
00:26government-run grocery stores to dole out free food. But as we know, there is no such thing as
00:32a free lunch. If you need a sense of just how unpopular this plan is, look no further than the
00:37Democratic insider who told The Post, quote, overspending tens of millions of dollars on a
00:43study to look at a thing rather than actually spending the money on people is textbook limousine
00:49socialist move. The announced spend for the study comes a week after Mamdani disclosed a 5.4
00:56billion dollar budget gap. His first plan to close it is to convince the state to tax the rich.
01:02But if that does not pan out, which it seems like it will not, he's also threatening to jack
01:08property taxes by 10 percent for everyone. I guess that whole freezing the rent thing isn't really
01:15panning out.
