00:05But the truth came out during a recent New York Times interview in which he suggested that anyone
00:10making under a million dollars a year qualifies as part of the working class. It was no slip of
00:16the tongue either. Despite his hammer and sickle rhetoric, Mamdani knows that privileged,
00:21over-educated progressives, not the working class, are his real political base. Remember,
00:26Andrew Cuomo actually came out ahead of Mamdani among lower-income New Yorkers in last June's
00:32Democratic primary. Mamdani only prevailed thanks to his strength in whiter, wealthier neighborhoods
00:38in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Mamdani's favored candidates followed the same path to victory
00:43in a trio of congressional primaries last month, running up the score among the well-to-do and
00:49falling short among the very block they claim to represent. This reality helps explain why
00:55Mamdani and his ilk are so overtly unpatriotic, haunted by the world's only Jewish majority
01:01state, and effectively pro-illegal immigration, none of which are attitudes or views shared
01:07by blue-collar voters, be they Republican or Democrat.
01:11His playbook has proven effective in New York City, but there's reason to doubt both its
01:16staying power and its applicability nationally.
