00:00I'm Niko Chi Kiong, Secretary General of PAN,
00:04and I'm proud of Kuka Kai Hua, Director of Sunrise Sports,
00:08and I'm proud of Stuart Ramalingam.
00:12Today we are not only known as one of the Paddington,
00:18we are now looking for the younger generation to
00:22to feel the sport that is quality, to help our youth and also to gain confidence since the early age.
00:36So the Lee Chomwe Cup is important because it adds depth into the journey.
00:43So at BAM, we believe development must start early,
00:47not only in terms of skills,
00:49but in terms of mindset as well as character.
00:54Young players need exposure to proper competition,
00:59to fair systems and high standards.
01:02So this tournament contributes to that ecosystem.
01:07We need to inculcate the belief that many Lee Chomwe can come after this current Lee Chomwe year.
01:15This is the year we kick off the Lee Chomwe Cup,
01:19and I'm very confident with the success of Lee Chomwe Cup,
01:23we can have more Lee Chomwe in Malaysia and in the global stage.
01:28There's some information that we're not able to share yet,
01:31but that's being ironed out, and over time we'll announce this as time goes by.
01:35This was conceived by Dr. Sri himself,
01:37and this was an initiative that he wanted to give back.
01:41Giving back not only as a premier elite competition,
01:44but a competition that brought youth together.
01:47In the competition format, you will see about 3200 children participating in this competition,
01:54and they will be broken into a qualifier format,
01:57and then into the grand finals.

02:05and there will be a mixed category for the under 17.
02:10In each category, you will have 128 slots available.
02:17So that's a big number for a qualifier competition.

02:30which is then the grand finals.
02:33From the open qualifiers, which will be open qualifiers,
02:37the mechanism of registration will be announced as time goes by,
02:42that's being finalized.

02:47we will also announce the qualifying criteria.
02:50In the rounds, the earlier rounds,
02:53the top 32 from each category will then transfer into the grand finals,
03:00and they will join 32 state-based athletes.
03:04This will give the opportunity for the open players to play against the state-based players,
03:09and the winner will take it all.
03:12The winner.
03:14100,000 ringgit is the total prize pool,
03:17which makes this competition the largest huge competition prize pool in Malaysia.
03:21The three main pillars will be around environment,
03:24so on upcycling and recycling of badminton related products.
03:28Second is the social outreach program.
03:31There will be also programs done with schools and communities
03:35to ensure that we are not trying to find the next leech over here,
03:38but that badminton and sports can be a vehicle and a platform for children to now engage in.
03:46But the very important pillar is the governance pillar,
03:50to ensure that the social understanding around anti-bullying and safe sport
03:55will be also communicated through these programs.
03:58Our brochures and pledges will be part of the criteria as children,
04:03parents and coaches come to each event.
04:06They will sign off for anti-bullying and safe sport pledge.
04:10This is to ensure that we don't only guide performance of athletes,
04:14but also to develop better human beings.
