00:00I was in Mexico and my life changed forever.
00:05My dog Zeke met his best friend.
00:10The dog had these amazing
00:12bright blue eyes, but he had a few scars on his face.
00:15A man came up to tell me that he was his dog, and his name was Solovino.
00:20Zeke and I were staying in Mexico for a month, so from that day on
00:23Juan Carlos and I met up every single morning by the beach so that our dogs
00:27could play. It wasn't until a few days into getting to know
00:31the two of them that I found out that Juan Carlos was unhoused.
00:35He and Solovino were living under the pier by the beach.
00:39He loves you so much. He does.
00:43As soon as I found out, I made it my mission to help them. I started to take
00:47Solo on walks with Zeke so that Juan Carlos could have some more freedom to do odd jobs.
00:52At first, Solo was a fruit of the ocean and the waves.
00:55Good boy, Solo!
00:57I would take them to a small river nearby.
01:00Zeke, do you want to teach Solo how to swim?
01:02Where Zeke showed Solo how to feel safe by the water and showed him how to have fun.
01:07Good boy! Good boy!
01:11Unfortunately, I could see as time was going by that Solo was being neglected.
01:16Juan Carlos did what he could to take care of Solo, but there was addiction involved.
01:20I offered to take Solo to the vet and Juan Carlos agreed.
01:23I got Solo cleaned up and vaccinated and was able to get him a health certificate.
01:28And when I went back to Juan Carlos, he made a comment that now that I had the paperwork, I
01:33could take him to Canada and it could give him a better life.
01:35At that moment, I had outright refused. Solo was all that he had and I couldn't separate them.
01:42But as time passed, Juan Carlos kept on insisting and I kept saying no until eventually I said,
01:48If that's what you really want me to do, then I can do that for you.
01:52And through tears together, we both agreed that it was best for Solo for me to take him to Canada
01:57and give him a better life.
02:00The hardest part of it all was seeing Juan Carlos say goodbye to Solo.
02:05I offered to continue helping Juan Carlos, but he had refused.
02:10Then, the 24 hour travel day began.
02:13Good boy!
02:18Never seen grass like this.
02:24I immediately took Solo to the vet and they had told me if he had stayed on the street,
02:28in his condition, he likely would have not survived the year.
02:32We worked on helping Solo's healing process and showed him his new home.
02:37What are you doing with old Solo, you know?
02:43I absolutely loved watching Zeke and Solo explore the outdoors together.
02:54It was like Zeke realized that Solo would be his best friend forever.
03:00For the first few weeks, I had kept in touch with Juan Carlos.
03:04We had video calls so that he could say hi to Solo and see him thriving.
03:08It was incredible to see him smile, to look at Solo with his new bed and his new toys.
03:13But after a couple of weeks, I was unable to reach him.
03:16After reaching out to everyone that I could, I was met with the devastating news
03:21that Juan Carlos had succumbed to his addiction and he had passed away.
03:26I was heartbroken.
03:27After I spent time grieving, I knew that I had to do everything to keep his legacy alive through Solo.
03:33The dog that Juan Carlos had selflessly parted with because he knew it was the best thing for him.
03:41Now, we spend every day living the life that Juan Carlos would have wanted for Solo.
03:46A life full of adventure, love, playing, and extra snuggles.
03:59And that is a beautiful thing.
04:03Hey, this is Juan Carlos.
04:07Say hi to Solo vino for me.
04:10And thank you for taking care of them.
04:13I love you, and I love them too.
04:16Bye.
04:17Bye.
04:20Bye.
04:22Bye.
04:24Bye.
04:26Bye.
