00:00As soon as Vernet reported the completion of his artificial male sex gland,
00:04he was given permission to test it on prisoners at Buchenwald concentration camp.
00:08In total, he implanted artificial male sex glands into 17 concentration camp inmates,
00:14including 10 homosexuals. The purpose of these operations on humans was to prove
00:19that homosexuality could be transformed into a normal sex drive.
00:23It is known that at least one man died during the experiment on the 21st of December, 1944,
00:29of heart failure associated with infectious enteritis and general bodily weakness.
00:35Eugen Korgun, a Buchenwald survivor, reported that a second man died because of the operations
00:40due to festering inflammation of cell tissue, presumably after the 3rd of January, 1945.
