00:00Today on Media Miss Minute, lawmakers from both parties are moving to block President Trump from launching military action against
00:07Iran without congressional approval.
00:09And dozens of Palestinian journalists say they were abused while being held in Israeli prisons.
00:19Welcome to Media Miss Minute. I'm Craig DeGrelli.
00:22Today we're bringing you two stories getting little attention from partisan media outlets, starting with what the left is overlooking.
00:28Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna and Republican Thomas Massey are joining forces on legislation that would require congressional authorization before any
00:38U.S. military strike on Iran.
00:40The United States has increased air and naval presence in the region as Iran expands uranium enrichment, targets shipping in
00:47the Strait of Hormuz, and cracks down on domestic protests.
00:50Khanna and Massey say the Constitution is clear. Congress, not the president alone, decides when the U.S. goes to
00:58war.
00:59Now to what the right is glossing over.
01:01A new report from the Committee to Protect Journalists details allegations from Palestinian journalists who say they were systematically abused,
01:09beaten, and starved in Israeli prisons.
01:12The report describes claims of beatings, starvation, medical neglect, and sexual violence, including allegations of rape.
01:20The CPJ is calling for an investigation and for Israel to be held accountable if the abuse is confirmed.
