00:01you can see the vehicle there that's law enforcement pulling up in the pickup and it is the
00:07honda pilot that we should be focused on here it's about a purplish reddish color here so let's take
00:12a look agent walking up and then there's another agent i don't know if you can see that that one
00:17right there our heart and our condolences are with you the whole world has been watching and
00:24obviously we all feel for you and your family and minneapolis dear becca today the world forum
00:30and cinema for peace extend its deepest compassion and solidarity to the people of minneapolis and we
00:37honor the memory of renee good a mother of three children whose life was taken from a from her
00:43community far too soon renee good present represents something profoundly important
00:51she reminds us that every life has infinite value that every person matters and their communities
00:58are built on the bonds between ordinary people doing their best for their families and neighbors
01:04as mother of three renee good embodied the care dedication and hope that sustains our communities
01:13her children her family and the people of minneapolis have suffered an immeasurable loss and especially you
01:20in honoring her today we acknowledge that loss that loss and stand with them in their grief and we stand
01:28with you the world forum and cinema for peace believe that our shared humanity requires us to see one
01:36another across distances across borders across all the divisions that separate us when one community suffers
01:44us we all be witness when one life is lost we all feel that absence to the people of minneapolis
01:53we see you we stand with you and honoring
01:57renee good we affirm that her life mattered that she will be remembered and that your community's
02:06pain is acknowledged by the wider world may her memory bring comfort to her three children
02:12to you to the family and to all who knew and loved her thank you so much thank you
02:24maybe you can say us a few words about who was really good how was she i heard that she
02:30was she was
02:31basically um advertising radical radical kindness radical kind that's what we believe in um that's
02:38something we believe strongly in our house um thank you very much uh it means so much to accept this
02:43on
02:43renee's behalf um she didn't just believe in kindness she lived it um fully and fiercely um
02:50renee always showed up for others and she believed every person deserved the same
02:54compassion and care and dignity regardless of who they were where they came from or what they looked like
03:00um it was the core of who she was she valued people and community and connection she was sunshine
03:08and spread that light brightness wherever she went leaving laughter and smiles in her wake she was pure joy
03:15i chose to celebrate and honor my wife in the way that i know she would always want me to
03:19by choosing kindness and love
03:22always if that's considered radical then i am proud that our family practices radical kindness every single day
03:28i hope people honor renee not only by remembering her spirit by leaving their own mark on people the
03:33way she did by choosing kindness and leaving no one behind that is firmly what we believe in what
03:39we're trying to teach our son is that this world is a better we can make this world a better
03:43place but
03:44we have to live it what's up we've been honoring the past personalities like nelson mandela muhammad ali
03:50the icons of humankind and we believe that renee good was extraordinary considering
03:57what we've learned that her last words to the officer who killed her were i'm not mad at you
04:06i think you cannot show a bigger sign of compassion and understanding if you're being
04:12threatened with somebody with a gun in front of your eyes and you tell this person i'm not mad at
04:17you i think she's a shining example for peaceful behavior it's it's kind of amazing um as her wife i
04:25obviously i'm quite biased and i thought she was the most amazing um creation that ever walked to
04:30the earth and so to see other people honor her in a way that um this is almost almost as
04:36amazing as
04:36she actually was um is really really um powerful to me and um to have the world see what we
04:43were trying
04:43to do um with care and compassion and love is very amazing so thank you very much and she was
04:51as much as
04:51we understand an ordinary hero she was a mamma mother she was an american mother she was bringing
04:57her three children to school the community has been beautiful and has really shown up and shown
05:01out for us i can't i cannot thank minneapolis the community enough for taking care of us it has been
05:07absolutely incredible what this city has done so from the top down and do you have a wish for the
05:14future
05:14something you would like to address um i just really um i need it's not even a wish i need
05:21for everyone um to get on board with caring and compassion because every night i have to tell my
05:26son that i'm doing everything i can to build this world that i've promised him that we have we're trying
05:31to build and um me and renee firmly believe that you have to um live the world that you want
05:37to create
05:37and so um it's beautiful to see so many people jump on that train and i just want
05:43love and kindness to be what comes out of all of this because that is that is what was
05:46most important to us and what i'm trying to teach my six-year-old son um every single day so
05:53that's
05:53what is most important to me to come out of this is that her legacy is of love compassion and
05:58kindness so
05:59i think there's nothing more beautiful they can give to the children and the children are coping
06:03and coming along with the situation um we're uh me and their other parents are doing everything
06:09that we possibly can to make sure that um the impact of this um well is always going to be
06:16massive is at least something that is manageable for them so they're all we're surrounded by the
06:21most amount of love possible so that's really helping so we wish you all the strength that you need
06:27and we invite you to come to us in berlin to cinema for peace and award from whenever you wish
06:32to
06:32and we're going to also come to you we're going to come to minneapolis we're going to present the
06:36award also in person you know renee was a huge film person really she was massive we um she would
06:44watch the criterion collection the really boring ones like oh my goodness for hours and hours and
06:50i would be like i love you so much i'm gonna take a nap i can't watch this stuff with
06:54you but she
06:54you know the four and a half hour long french films that are like in real time and stuff she
06:59loved
07:00all that stuff we talked about different avenues of film that's she was hoping to go to get her
07:05master's and study films so um the fact that that this is um one of the big awards is absolutely
07:11incredible and and i hope she can see and is um is proud so and maybe she's watching us from
07:17another
07:17place yeah who knows and did she have a favorite film or film actor actress or it would be i
07:26i i couldn't
07:28pick a favorite for her um she liked wes anderson as a director a lot um maybe my last question
07:35anything you could imagine that really good would say no she would say this is bonkers this is absolutely
07:43bonkers
