00:00Like, we compare him pretty favorably to Tarek Skubal,
00:02and those guys were almost going pitch for pitch a year ago.
00:05And it was two years ago that Tarek Skubal kind of emerged,
00:09won the Cy Young for Detroit.
00:10I mean, he was good prior to that,
00:11but that was the first year he put it all together
00:13and was good wire-to-wire, won the Cy Young Award.
00:16And I bet in Detroit they were like, he can't be better.
00:19And he was.
00:20He pitched a few more innings, had a few more strikeouts,
00:22was just overall a better pitcher.
00:24And they've really been a playoff team the last couple of years
00:27because of him.
00:27I mean, 86 and 87 wins.
00:29They're not great teams.
00:30The rosters aren't great beyond him.
00:32And it really is about him.
00:33And they don't want to pay him.
00:34They are not going to pay him.
00:36But I think at his age, like,
00:37obviously these pitcher injuries can happen at any time.
00:39Guys are, you know, getting drafted,
00:41and they've already had Tommy John.
00:42So it doesn't really matter.
00:43But, you know, he's 27, or he's 26 right now, Garrett Crochet.
00:49He's going to be 27 in June.
00:50So, like, I don't know.
00:52I mean, obviously you can always be fearful of injury,
00:55but I kind of do expect another year,
00:57where his ERA is like two and a half.
00:59He has a boatload of strikeouts.
01:01He's for sure top five in the Cy Young.
01:03And look, when you have Pedro,
01:06when you have, you know, on top of their game,
01:09Beckett or Sale,
01:10when you have those guys,
01:12they can be singular difference makers assuming health.
01:16And maybe it's dangerous to assume that with him.
01:19But look at Scoble.
01:20Look at how he was last year.
01:22The Red Sox were not a special roster a year ago.
01:24The Tigers have not been a special roster.
01:26Skeens can't put that Pirates team over the top.
01:28But if Crochet is going to do what he did last year,
01:30and you can budget him in for 32 starts,
01:33they really should be a playoff team based almost on his production alone.
