00:00I've scoured the internet for the craziest insect videos I could find.
00:04Beetles painting pictures, insane slow motions, and so much more.
00:09Anyways, our first video is this, which shows what happens when some dude left a piece of cheesecake out near
00:14his ant colony.
00:15And well, let's just say the ants didn't waste any time to absolutely start decimating it.
00:19If this doesn't show why you shouldn't leave food out, then I don't know what does. Dang.
00:23Now as the video goes on, the clips get crazier and crazier.
00:26Where in this second clip, a guy got a video up on his phone of a bunch of butterflies flying
00:31around and put his pet mantises in front of it.
00:33And yeah, I guess the mantises must have been hungry because you can tell this guy was absolutely locked in.
00:39Ducking and weaving and lining up the perfect shot to attack the butterflies.
00:43But yeah, he was very confused why he couldn't grab it. He was trying multiple times.
00:47Then there was this mantis that was legit staring at the screen for a minute before he made his first
00:51attack.
00:52Yeah, for him, it was no different. He couldn't really grab the butterflies either.
00:56First, we got iPad kids. Now we got iPad mantises. Really, bro?
01:00What's next? iPad frogs? Wait a second. That already exists.
01:05Uh, um, okay.
01:06Okay, next is one of the craziest videos I've seen of ants.
01:09And you may not be able to tell what's going on right away, but you see this dangling thing?
01:13This is all ants.
01:15And it's like a bajillion ants all joined together, starting up at the corner of this roof, spanning all the
01:20way down.
01:21You can see so many ants grabbing onto each other's bodies to make a literal ant bridge.
01:27And on top of the bridge, you can see more ants just walking around on top of it, doing stuff
01:31like carrying eggs and food.
01:33And this bridge goes all the way down, curves back up, and connects to a wasp nest.
01:38Yep, these ants are so genius, they built this bridge to straight up attack a wasp nest.
01:43And now, they can probably feed their colony for days. Wow.
01:46And wait a second. If these ants can just stand on the roof here, why didn't they just walk from
01:51here to here?
01:52Uh, uh, are you guys sure this giant bridge was necessary?
01:56Okay, anyways, it's still crazy.
01:58Now for the next video, which shows this little thing.
02:01This is a beetle grub, and this is going to show the process of how they grow up into a
02:05beetle over time.
02:06Oh, by the way, this is not a normal beetle species.
02:08This is the largest beetle species in the world, a Hercules beetle.
02:13And as the time goes on, you can see even just this grub starts getting much, much larger than what
02:19a normal fully grown beetle would be.
02:21And after literally over a year, this massive creature starts to go into its pupa stage.
02:26Where you can see exactly how it transforms from a worm creature into a beetle.
02:30First, you can see the legs starting to grow.
02:32Then, the giant horns start to emerge from the head that the species have.
02:35And boom, after a long 500 days, the beetle emerges from its pupa.
02:40And yeah, that's how long it takes for one of these beauties to be born.
02:44By the way, it's so cool to watch these guys fly.
02:46This is not an edited sound or anything.
02:48It actually sounds like a literal helicopter when their wings are flapping.
02:52It's insane.
02:52And in these next videos, they show a ton of cool bugs crawling around on this guy's hand.
02:57Like orchid mantises and leaf insects, which are super cool because they look like leafs, obviously.
03:02The main reason I'm showing you this is because this guy also lets other stuff crawl on him.
03:07Like these insanely creepy creatures.
03:09Uh, yeah, even I, Tara Green would not let those crawl on me.
03:13What the heck even are those?
03:15But yeah, he also lets stuff go on his face.
03:17Like this giant moth.
03:19Dang.
03:20And a Hercules beetle from earlier, which like, dang bro, you gotta be careful with.
03:23That giant horn could easily poke your eye out.
03:26But actually, respect to you for keeping all these insanely cool insects.
03:29It's actually so cool.
03:31Now earlier, I showed mantises attacking the screen.
03:33But if you wanted to see what it looks like when a mantis eats real food, this is it.
03:37And actually, this is a massive locust.
03:39So it's pretty cool to see a mantis eat this whole thing.
03:42Since it's pretty much as big as him.
03:43But first, the mantis starts devouring its head with its alien mouth.
03:47Then it works its way down the body.
03:49And yeah, the mantis basically takes no breaks while eating.
03:52The endurance is actually pretty dang impressive.
03:55And by the end, there was nothing but scraps on the floor.
03:58And the mantis's belly was pretty dang big.
04:00Which makes sense.
04:01He just ate a lot.
04:02This next video I found shows this insane time-lapse footage of leafcutter ants doing their signature thing.
04:09Cutting leaves.
04:10In it, you can see how they all work together over time.
04:13Cutting out these circular pieces to absolutely decimate this leaf till it's no more.
04:17The scientists that filmed it even got this super close-up footage showing exactly how their mandibles cut through the
04:23leaves.
04:23Showing how it works almost super similar to how scissors work.
04:27It's crazy how some animals in nature have evolved to do this.
04:30But the coolest thing is, is how we got this footage that shows while a leaf might just start with
04:34one ant cutting it,
04:35that one ant will take her leaf back to the colony and let all the other workers know where that
04:39leaf is.
04:40So that way, they can all swarm it and basically speedrun to chop the whole thing up.
04:45Yeah, it's super cool how these guys work as a team.
04:47Have you ever wondered how so many ants are born?
04:49Well, it all starts when the queen ants and the male ants are mating, which is shown in this video.
04:54This is the queen ant and this is the male.
04:56And you can see exactly how much more massive the queens are than the males.
05:00And it's actually kind of funny because oftentimes many males will latch onto the same female,
05:05all at the same time and try and mate at the same time.
05:08And sometimes the female will even try and fly while this is all happening,
05:12which doesn't exactly work very well with all that extra weight weighing her down.
05:16Yet somehow the males managed to stay clinging on.
05:19Dang.
05:19Okay, you won't believe this next video because in it, a kid decided for some reason it'd be a good
05:24idea to get pet bedbugs.
05:26Yes, like the things that bite you when you sleep.
05:28He literally built them a natural standing closure and made a mini mattress for them to sleep under.
05:33And yeah, since they were his pet, he had to feed them.
05:35So he let them crawl on his arm and suck his blood.
05:39Uh, yeah, if you can already tell, this isn't just some random kid.
05:43This is me.
05:44Yeah, last year I made a video about getting pet bedbugs,
05:47but I just thought I had to get a spot on the craziest insect videos.
05:50Because yeah, I had to be the first person to get pet bedbugs.
05:53But by the way, guys, my mom made me get rid of them for some reason.
05:56I don't know why.
05:56Uh, mom, I was just wondering why you made me get rid of the pet bedbugs.
05:59Uh, because we don't want those in the house.
06:02The pet bedbugs?
06:03Yes, absolutely.
06:05I thought they were cute.
06:06No, they'll be biting us and we had to get rid of them.
06:09Okay, next up, have you ever wondered how an ant stinger works?
06:12But whether you have or haven't, it's actually pretty interesting.
06:15Because this scientist caught an extreme close-up video exactly of how it works.
06:19Basically, he got an ant stinger right up to a thin layer of wax paper and let it pierce through
06:23it.
06:24And right as it pierces through, you can literally see droplets of venom drip off the end of the stinger.
06:29So yeah, every time you're stung by an ant in the wild on an extremely tiny scale, this is exactly
06:34what's happening under your skin.
06:36And the craziest thing is, is how thin these stingers are.
06:39Because here they are next to a human hair.
06:41Yeah, the tip of the stinger is like half of the width of the hair.
06:45That is insanely thin.
06:47Alright, you guys gotta see this next video because it shows these beans.
06:51And uh, yeah, you might be thinking, bruh, peregrine, where's the insect?
06:55Well, check this out.
06:56These beans can quite literally jump.
06:58And that's because there's an insect inside of them.
07:01In fact, a larva of a moth is inside of these beans.
07:04And many larvas like this species have learned to jump by flinging the end of their tail against the ground.
07:09And when you look very closely at this bean, you can see the little larva inside flinging himself up against
07:15the top of the bean to make enough momentum to send it flying into the air.
07:19And in this time-lapse footage, you can see how they actually move a pretty good amount over the course
07:23of a few hours.
07:24But yeah, after about half a year inside of one of these beans, they turn into a moth that looks
07:28kinda like this.
07:29Pretty interesting.
07:30This next video is sick though, because in it, a dude decided to give his pet beetle some paintbrushes.
07:35And surprisingly, they actually took a hold of them perfectly.
07:38And yeah, they literally just started to walk around, dragging the edge of the paintbrush along the canvas, making a
07:44beautiful work of art.
07:45I mean, they weren't perfect, and they did paint a little bit on his table.
07:49But for the most part, they stuck to the canvas.
07:51He even let the beetles choose the colors they wanted to paint with.
07:54So yeah, you could say the beetles had full artistic control.
07:57And by the end, this is what it looked like.
08:00Now, this is modern art.
08:02This could easily sell to some art museum for an insane amount of money.
08:05Because like, the fact that beetles painted this makes it so cool.
08:09I'm being so serious.
08:10Insect House, the guy that made this video, you could like actually reach out to some art museums and actually
08:15sell this thing for like a million dollars.
08:17I've seen some crazy modern art sell for insane amounts of money actually do it, bro.
08:21I'm being serious.
08:22Okay, the next video shows something nasty.
08:24Because we all know roaches, right?
08:25Like, they're just some chill little insects.
08:27But I found this video that shows how they're born.
08:29And yeah, this isn't a clam or anything.
08:31This is an egg sack.
08:33And yeah, that's a ton of roaches coming out.
08:35Nah.
08:36Basically, when the mom roaches are ready to have babies, they develop their egg sacks in the back of their
08:41body.
08:41Which you can see right here and here.
08:43And a day before they hatch, they drop them on the ground.
08:46And basically, each one of these slits in the egg sack is a baby roach that's about to hatch.
08:51And yeah, literally all at the same time, you can see the bottom of it starts to slowly expand.
08:56And these little white worm things start to poke out.
08:59And these are all the new roaches that are now born.
09:02And they're gonna go run around and find homes for themselves.
09:04Dang, sorry if you're eating.
09:06But to be fair, if you're eating, you probably would have clicked off the video by now.
09:10All right, second to last video.
09:12And I've saved some of my favorites for last.
09:14Because in this footage, a guy put out this red sugar water and then let his ants loose near it.
09:19Obviously, ants are super attracted to sugar.
09:21So they started to swarm it.
09:23But the thing that's so interesting about these ants is that they're a special kind of species.
09:27That can store extra liquid inside their abdomen.
09:30Yep, you heard that right.
09:32And you can see it super clearly in this footage.
09:34As this ant sucks up the sugar water, his abdomen gets way larger and way more red.
09:39And it's actually insane to see.
09:42But by far the coolest thing to see is this footage of one of the bigger ants who was full
09:46of sugar water
09:46going up to this empty ant and literally feeding it some of its sugar water.
09:50You can see this one's abdomen getting smaller as this one's gets bigger.
09:54And yeah, it's kind of nasty how they just regurgitate the food into each other's mouths.
09:58But they're ants.
09:59I don't really think they care.
10:00Okay, now our last video.
10:02This video shows a snail hatching from an egg, which is pretty cool to see because like I didn't even
10:07realize.
10:08But yeah, snails literally hatch with their shell.
10:10I don't know why I didn't really think to realize that.
10:12But yeah, they do.
10:13But the real reason I'm showing you this is because this is the most insane snail species of all time.
10:19Because this video also shows what happens over the months as this snail species grows up.
10:24It literally keeps getting larger and larger and larger, bigger than any snail species you've probably ever seen before.
10:31Until after three years, it is fully grown.
10:34And oh yeah, this is a giant African land snail, the largest snail in the entire world.
10:40And yeah, they are absolutely insane.
10:43The fact that this is bigger than a hand is like what?
10:46I mean, what?
10:47All right, that was all of the craziest insect videos I could find.
10:50And hopefully you were able to learn something new.
10:52Also, by the way, guys, don't forget that the new pterogreen plushies just dropped.
10:56We got the massive jumbo snake that's 36 inches long.
11:00And we got the super duper cute little axolotl.
11:03And yeah, hopefully you guys enjoyed this new video style.
11:05I'll go back to the normal video style with the next one.
11:07But I just thought this would be a cool way to show you guys some more content.
11:10Anyways, yeah, check out the plushies.
11:12And goodbye.
11:13Bye and click the video on the screen and subscribe too.
11:16Goodbye.
