00:00.
00:37That's when he's at his best.
00:39He's so fast and agile, you forget that he's 6'4", strong and wiry.
00:44When he gets hacked on the finish, he can not only absorb the hit, but finish the layup as well.
00:50He's a terrific talent.
00:51Well, for the Wizards, they come into tonight's game after the loss to the Celtics in Boston.
00:56And that was a real body blow for them.
00:58They got taken apart both offensively and defensively.
01:01And that night, guys, they didn't resemble the team we're used to seeing either as individuals or as a unit.
01:08Steve, I thought there was really a lack of leadership.
01:10Nobody really gathered the team and tried to rally them.
01:14And sometimes you have to do that with your body language and your voice.
01:18To me, that was the most disappointing thing about the loss.
01:22You know, it was interesting listening to Brandon Jennings last year in Milwaukee.
01:26He talked about watching Dwight Howard and Chris Paul trying to go to bigger markets.
01:31And that he was thinking about his own options.
01:34Really implying that, you know, maybe going to one of the bigger cities would be a preferred option for him.
01:40The name shot is off.
01:43So, Milwaukee will take it the other way.
01:45I want to keep rolling here following the win against Memphis.
01:48And I think everybody who was at that game would agree.
01:51It was their defense that really wanted for them.
01:54Yeah, they were all over the place.
01:55Flying all over the court on deep.
01:58The kind of hustle that pays off big time for you.
02:01And for the Bucs, treading away Andrew Bogut last season.
02:04Retooling around Jennings.
02:05They certainly hope to keep him around.
02:07And it can be tough for the small market teams, Kevin.
02:09The draw of the big markets is real for a lot of players.
02:12Sometimes they think being in a bigger city is better.
02:15Jennings is an L.A. native.
02:17So, that's certainly his background.
02:18The big city.
02:19The bright lights.
02:21We'll see if he can find contentment in the Badgers state.
02:25Bangs home the trifecta.
02:28Jennings has got 12 in the game.
02:30Well, they've really come out on fire with the killer instinct here.
02:33Absolutely torching it from beyond the arc.
02:36All with it.
02:36And Jennings picks him up defensively.
02:39Nene dishes to Okafor.
02:42Milwaukee with the rebound.
02:44D'Alembert has got three rebounds now in this one.
02:50There's Jennings with the three.
02:51And that one's good.
02:53He's got 15.
02:55I think he's setting the tone for the entire team in this quarter.
02:58Tremendous stuff.
02:59Good action.
03:01There's the dish to Ariza.
03:03Kicks it to Beal.
03:04The Wizards working the ball around now.
03:07And Wall kicks to Nene.
03:11Passes it to Okafor.
03:13Six to shoot.
03:14Feeds it to Wall.
03:18Gets it to go.
03:20Wall's got his third basket of the night.
03:22They saw just a little bit of daylight.
03:24Went right to the rim.
03:26For three.
03:27And again, Milwaukee with the triple.
03:30What a start they've gotten off to.
03:32A big lead for them.
03:33And we're not even out of the first quarter yet.
03:35And it's not just their hot offense here.
03:37I mean, they're playing very strong defense too, guys.
03:41Bucks leading by 10.
03:45There's Jennings with the three.
03:47Gets it to go.
03:49Jennings has got 18 points.
03:51That's nine straight points coming off three three-pointers.
03:54The defense just getting shelved.
03:57Steve, the threes are killing them.
03:58I think they've got to find a way to chase them off the three-point line.
04:01So timeout called here.
04:03The first for Washington.
04:04Going back to what you were saying, you can really tell they're focused in this game.
04:08Yeah, you sometimes can see it.
04:10And you can even feel it when you're around the team, Kevin.
04:13When everybody is zeroed in and homed in on what they need to do.
04:16And oftentimes it results in very sharp, effective play.
04:19Pema Okur has checked in to the Bucks.
04:22That was a nice finish to an excellent possession.
04:27Kicks it out to Jennings.
04:30There's the three.
04:31And another three for Milwaukee.
04:34Now the way this defense is playing out there,
04:36I mean, they might as well not be there.
04:38That's five straight wide-open threes.
04:40Yeah, and that's way too many.
04:42I mean, typically teams will get the message to cover shooters
04:45after one or two wide-open threes,
04:47but they just haven't figured it out yet.
04:51With John Wall as your point guard,
04:52it makes sense to build your team around transition offense.
04:56That's where he excels.
04:57He's probably the fastest player end-to-end in the league with the ball.
05:01Maybe in the world even.
05:03Not easy to find teammates who can run with him.
05:05But, and going back to the blistering speed of John Wall,
05:09Steve Eakin really fly.
05:11Yeah, can you imagine him as a wide receiver in football, Kevin?
05:14Just incredible skills.
05:17I think Wall has a chance to be special.
05:20You know, the problem for him the last few years,
05:22his supporting cast has not been ideal.
05:24So hopefully this version of the Wizards will be more effective
05:29in terms of giving him support.
05:30Here's Okafor, following the basket by Brandon Jennings.
05:35And another miss by Washington.
05:37Well, I think he had all the space he needed.
05:39He just couldn't find the bottom of the net.
05:41Jacks up a three.
05:42And again, Milwaukee with the triple.
05:45That's four of their last five coming from long range.
05:48This offense is cooking.
05:51Yeah, it's rolling.
05:52Really rolling.
05:53And defensively, they kept collapsing, Steve,
05:55and leaving them open.
05:56So now they're in trouble.
05:57They're in a real dilemma now.
05:59They continue to barrel their way inside.
06:01And when's the defense going to adjust?
06:04Well, I'm asking the same question myself, partner.
06:07I mean, that's eight points out of their last ten coming inside.
06:10The defense has done very little to slow them down so far.
06:13Let's catch up with Doris from the sideline.
06:16I caught up with Coach Randy Whitman.
06:18His biggest concern seemed to be how to contain Monte Ellis on the offensive end.
06:23He said, quote, no matter where he is on the floor,
06:26he is a threat to score because he can get into the lane whenever he wants.
06:30We'll just have to try and get the ball out of his hands on the offensive end.
06:34We'll see if they can do just that.
06:36And thanks for that story, Doris.
06:38And Milwaukee calls their first time out of the game.
06:41And as you said, the defense unable to stop the barrage from outside.
06:44Well, defensively, they need to do a better job of, one, pressuring the ball,
06:49disrupt their offensive rhythm, and then you've got to get to shooters,
06:52especially when they're shooting as well as these guys are.
06:55Looking at who's out there now for the Wizards.
06:57Kevin Serafin, he's checked in for Okafor.
07:00Chris Singleton comes in for Nene.
07:02And Jordan Crawford is subbed in for Beal.
07:04That's one he knows he should have made.
07:07Bucs leading by 16.
07:10Here's Dupree.
07:11Bucs gets the three-pointer to fall.
07:14Another three goes down, guys.
07:33Yeah, you've got to get up into them defensively.
07:35I mean, you've got to put pressure on guys and make them put the ball on the floor.
07:40Well, the big challenge for the Wizards the last few years has been defensively.
07:44They just haven't put forth the effort.
07:46I think they're such a young squad that they really didn't have a foundation for defense.
07:51So that's something that they're trying to build as we speak.
07:54And they've got a long way to go.
07:56Easy shot.
07:57That's good on the jump shot.
07:59Well, Grady's got his first basket.
08:01A lot of points for them here early in the first quarter.
08:04I mean, this could get ugly.
08:05Yeah, they sure could.
08:07They're on quite a pace right now.
08:08And judging by their lead, this game could get out of hand in a hurry.
08:12Going back to the Washington Wizards, Clark, they're taking strides to encourage more defensive play.
08:18And sometimes it paid off, sometimes it didn't.
08:21Young teams still developing.
08:22And they think their head, though, in the right direction, at least defensively.
08:25Well, they had a reward system, Kevin, for players taking charges.
08:28And you actually could see it in the stats.
08:31They seem to have started to turn the corner defensively at the end of last season.
08:36Now here's Webster.
08:37Here's Booker.
08:38Dunks it down.
08:40No time wasted getting back off the ground when he got his hands on the ball.
08:44I like that quickness of jump.
08:45And that's the idea, right?
08:46You know, take it back up strong.
08:48Yeah, of course.
08:49I mean, no reason to hold on to it any longer than you have to.
08:52They have just been pouring in threes from the start.
08:56And the defense is drowning.
08:57I mean, they can't find a way to get out of the hole.
09:00I mean, a nice lead to start the game with.
09:02The offensive rebound.
09:06Second shot opportunity.
09:08Can't get it to go.
09:10We're at the end of the first quarter.
09:12And what a blowout all...
09:17Tune in next Sunday.
09:23Welcome back, folks.
09:24We'll see if we're in store for a more tightly contested quarter as we move here into the second.
09:28Guys, we've seen the Bucs really take control here early.
09:31Yeah, everything's gone right for this club offensively.
09:34They are really putting it together.
09:36Not too many speed bumps in the road as they built this lead.
09:40And a moment now to reset the lineups.
09:42Courtesy of Gatorade.
09:44All fueled up for the second quarter of basketball.
09:47And Milwaukee looking at who they've got.
09:50Ilyasova and Dallenberg are down low.
09:52Brandon Jennings and Montel has comprised the backcourt.
09:55And it's Mba Amute in at the three slot.
09:58Here's Ilyasova.
10:00Nicely done.
10:00They've really attacked effectively in transition.
10:03There's no doubt about it, Steve.
10:04Their quickness has given them an advantage.
10:06I mean, I've liked the way they've pushed the ball all game.
10:10I think Irsan Ilyasova was one of the unknown stories from a year ago.
10:16But he was fantastic.
10:17Rebounded the ball really well.
10:19How about the one game?
10:20He had 29 points and 25 boards.
10:22One of the best performances all season.
10:25Well, not only does he excel at getting those offensive rebounds,
10:28but he's really good getting putbacks and layups off of those boards.
10:32The Wizards have gone one for two on the night so far from the line.
10:36Now, the numbers last year for them at the line, not great.
10:39Just 73% free throw shooting as a team.
10:42Yeah, as a group, really a dismal year for them from the line last season, guys.
10:47And, guys, you know, when you take a look at Ilyasova,
10:50he's unusual among pick and pop big men in that he likes contact.
10:55He's not just looking to stand out there and shoot threes after he sets a screen.
11:00Even though he's 235 pounds, that's not super big.
11:04He'll get in there and fight with the big boys.
11:06Hey, he could have read a book cover to cover with all the time he was given on that three.
11:11My goodness, come on, play some deep.
11:14Yeah, could have read a book, could have played a video game, could have mowed the lawn.
11:17I mean, come on, defense, play.
11:19That mid-range jumper, just another one of his weapons.
11:24Here is Mbamute.
11:25Mbamute, and again, it's Milwaukee converting.
11:28This has been an offensive explosion.
11:30Guys, they are on fire.
11:32How about a volcanic eruption, a flash fire?
11:35And defensively, I mean, your guess is as good as mine.
11:39They just hope that they cool off at some point.
11:43And now, courtesy of the 2K leaderboard, here are the teams that led the NBA in blocked shots last year.
11:49The Wizards second.
11:50I don't think you can ever underestimate the effect that a few blocked shots can have on your opponent.
11:55I mean, it can get into your head as an offensive player.
11:58You're going in there thinking you've got a clear path, and then you see the ball going behind you in
12:02reverse.
12:03I mean, that could be major intimidation and affect your game.
12:07Crawford's shot is good.
12:09They can't seem to stop anybody inside.
12:11They've got to know that if they don't make life tougher in the paint, the opponent is just going to
12:16keep going there.
12:16I mean, it's not like they'll get tired of all these in-close opportunities.
12:20Well, another uncontested three there.
12:22They've got to make some kind of an adjustment.
12:24I mean, they're giving up way too many open threes.
12:27Well, the last five hoops, three have come off wide open three-pointers, Clark.
12:31So it's one thing to give up one, but if you start giving three-pointers up in bunches, you're in
12:36big trouble.
12:37Let's go to our sideline reporter, Doris Burdick.
12:40Doris, what do you have?
12:41Well, guys, the Bucs' Brandon Jennings is so quick, and he's able to come away with a lot of steals.
12:47His coach, Scott Skiles, said he always had good hands,
12:51and I think maybe some of the guys he plays against underestimate him a little bit.
12:55If they're a bit too careless with it, he can take it from them.
12:58There are guys who get steals because they're on the weak side and shoot the gap,
13:02but Brandon can actually pick it from a guy who's dribbling the ball,
13:06and at this level, that's very difficult to do.
13:09Kevin?
13:10All right, Doris, thanks.
13:12You know, the Bucs know they have sufficient talent, and we're right in the mix of it.
13:16Last year ended up making a playoff push but came up four games short of securing that eighth seed,
13:21and had things gone a little differently, particularly on the road,
13:24they might have been able to get it done.
13:30Here's Booker, and there's the foul.
13:32It'll go on Udo.
13:34That is his first foul of the game.
13:37Washington making some changes.
13:39Vesely comes in for Trevor Booker, and Shelvin Max subbed in for Beal.
13:45Here in the second quarter, just under three and a half minutes played.
13:49Here's Mack.
13:50He feeds it to Nene.
13:52Can't get it to fall.
13:54Mark, you look back at the Bucs' season.
13:56They were injured, and they were missing players, and had they been healthy,
13:59there is a pretty good chance they would have been a playoff team in the Eastern Conference.
14:03That's right.
14:04Steve?
14:04Well, you know how that goes.
14:06I mean, health is a factor every year, and sometimes the breaks go your way,
14:10sometimes they don't.
14:12But I think it's going to be important for Milwaukee this season.
14:15I mean, they don't have to.
15:16And a year ago, they avoided any mistakes winning the season series against this club.
15:22And it has been total domination on their part.
15:25Yeah, they haven't put the parking brake on at all.
15:28They're continuing to go full throttle and pile up the points.
15:32And defensively, you want to keep the ball as far away from the hoop as possible.
15:36Yeah, because he's too good inside, Steve.
15:38I mean, he'll make you pay every time in there.
15:41West to west to west to.
15:44Now, here's Vesely.
15:46He's guarded by Mbamute.
15:48Steve mentioned the success they had against them in their contests a year ago.
15:51They did exactly what they needed to do against them.
15:54Yep, it was a solid performance from them most times they got together.
15:58They should have them feeling good about their chances today.
16:01And the basket good.
16:03Udo's got five points now in the quarter.
16:06That's where you like to get shots, inside and close to the hoop.
16:11Kanae is setting the pick for Crawford.
16:14Here's Mack.
16:16Rebounded by the Bucs.
16:17And you know why he was open there.
16:19They didn't commit too much defense to him, and you can see why.
16:22He has trouble making that shot.
16:23Took him no time at all on that one.
16:27Woodrick has got five now.
16:30Clark, some tough offensive sets.
16:32They want to turn it around.
16:33Yeah, they need a basket just to regain some momentum here, Kevin.
16:36Here's Crawford.
16:38The Wizards with another miss.
16:41And you look at Bucs head coach Scott Skiles, a point guard in his playing days.
16:45He won an Indiana State title in high school.
16:48And, of course, ten years playing in the league.
16:51Milwaukee in total control.
16:52The Celtics will be coming into town for the next game.
16:55That game will be a quick pit stop before hitting the road again.
16:58Boy, you take a look at that Celtics game.
17:00That's one they'd really like to have.
17:02In the first, he had trouble hitting with any consistency.
17:04But here in the second, he's turned it around.
17:07A platoon swap here for Milwaukee.
17:16And see if you look at Scott Skiles playing career.
17:191991, the most improved player in the NBA.
17:22That was the year.
17:22Remember he set that record for assists in a game with 30?
17:25Yeah, he was just amazing as a point guard.
17:27Not very talented athletically, but just incredible will.
17:32Great feel for the game and an unbelievable passer.
17:34And also one of the great free-throw shooters of all time.
17:3889% for his career.
17:40Marisa, shot is no good.
17:42Great defense that time from Ellis.
17:44And they have a huge advantage on the boards.
17:47Well, there's been one-sided so far, both on the rebounding side and the scoreboard.
17:52Ilyasova hits the bucket.
17:54He had no luck from the three-point line earlier,
17:56so maybe this one will give him some momentum.
17:59Singleton.
18:00No good again that time.
18:03Now, Udo, he has seven.
18:06The 11-footer.
18:07That's good from Ilyasova on the assist from Udo.
18:10Starting to get a little momentum here after that scoreless first quarter.
18:18Outside, wall.
18:23There's 14 seconds left in the first half.
18:26And Brandon Jennings gets the whistle that time.
18:29That's foul number two for him.
18:31Free.
18:35Outside, wall.
18:37There's the pick.
18:42Booker inside.
18:43No good on the buzzer beater.
18:45And through one half, it hasn't even been close.
18:49Now, presented by Sprint.
18:52Welcome to the 2K Sports Studios.
18:54I'm Damon Bruce.
18:56They're at the break, out at Verizon Center.
18:58And it's turning into a blowout, folks.
19:01A full head of steam for the Bucs playing great basketball.
19:05One look at their field goal percentage.
19:07Says it all.
19:08They're scoring at will.
19:17Welcome back, everybody.
19:18Third quarter just about to get going here in what has been so far a runaway game.
19:23What a performance from Jennings here.
19:26He's got 32 points and just an amazing performance from downtown.
19:30Wow.
19:30He is raining down the breeze, guys.
19:32You know how much I love to see this.
19:35Nene and Okafor together up front.
19:37Wall and Beal, they're the back.
19:38And it's Ariza in at the small forward position.
19:42That's Randy Whitman's five as we get into the second half.
19:47He kicks it to Beal.
19:53It's Ariza on the win.
19:55Just five on the clock.
19:56The Wizards need to get a shot off here.
19:59Over Ellis.
20:00Beal can't get it to go.
20:05And this will be the first full year in the backcourt together for Jennings and Ellis.
20:11And it's going to be very interesting to see how this small, thin lineup will hold up,
20:17especially at the defensive end of the court.
20:19From the sideline, let's catch up with Doris Booth.
20:22Fellas, last season, the first since Scott Skiles took over as head coach in Milwaukee,
20:26that the Bucs were not in the top half of the league in defensive efficiency.
20:30Coach Skiles is looking to turn that back around, and he talked about his defensive philosophy.
20:36He said, look, the perimeter players in this league are very gifted with the ball,
20:40and almost all of them are great athletes.
20:42So you've got to be on.
20:44You've got to be competitive and stay in a stance.
20:47Your footwork has to be impeccable.
20:49What we challenge our guys to do from the first day of camp is guard your guy for three dribbles.
20:55If you can do that, we'll get the help there.
20:58Kevin, it sounds simple, not easy to execute.
21:01Well, Coach Skiles always challenges his team's defensively.
21:05Thanks, Doris.
21:06And stolen by Ariza.
21:09He dishes at the wall.
21:11Missed in zone.
21:13Steve, as you said, defensively it might be tough getting stops,
21:16but you talk about speed to burn in this backcourt.
21:19As far as both guys can fly.
21:21Yeah, they've got tremendous speed.
21:23They get up and down, create a lot of steals defensively,
21:26but put pressure on the opponent's defense with the ability to shoot the ball deep
21:31and drive it to the rim.
21:32And the Bucs making a change here.
21:35And Balmute's checked in.
21:38Come to me, come to me.
21:40Outside wall.
21:42Knocked away.
21:44Nene.
21:46Nene.
21:50Hits it.
21:50Well done on the second effort.
21:53Nene's got ten points in the game.
21:56Textbook offensive rebounding right there.
21:58I love that.
21:59Those putbacks are buckets any team loves to get.
22:02And you've got to love what he's been able to do with the ball in his hands in this game.
22:07And one of the ways Brandon Jennings has improved his game is by taking care of the basketball.
22:13His assists were decent, about five per game.
22:16But what he did a nice job of last year was keeping the turnovers down,
22:20and that allowed the Bucs to run their offense efficiently.
22:23Kevin Serafin, he's checked in for Washington.
22:27Second half of play with just under two and a half minutes gone.
22:30Beal dishes to Nene.
22:33Rebound, Milwaukee.
22:35Ellis has got four rebounds now tonight.
22:37And Steve, you touched on Jennings and his improvement, and he's a gem.
22:41There's no doubt about it.
22:42Plays a lot of basketball in the offseason.
22:45Yeah, he's shown a real dedication to getting better during the summers,
22:48and that's when you do get better.
22:49You can't just get better during the season.
22:51You've got to commit offseason time to enhancing your craft,
22:56to getting better at what you do.
22:58For Jennings, it's not a matter of him not being in the gym.
23:02It's more targeted practice that he has to lock into.
23:05Good.
23:06He's a guy that will take it right into the teeth of the defense.
23:08A lot of his points come from inside of five feet.
23:12Back to Ellis.
23:14Good luck.
23:15And another basket for Milwaukee.
23:17They're rolling now.
23:19Five straight hoops to start this quarter.
23:24And Wall kicks to Beal.
23:27There's the pick.
23:30Lays out.
23:31And so it looks like the Wizards will retain possession here.
23:34And a chance here to check out how the Bucs ranked in the NBA last season.
23:38Third in assist.
23:39Fifth in scoring.
23:40And they were in the top ten in steals as well.
23:42I mean, this is a team that really gets after people defensively.
23:46Deflections.
23:47Pressure on the ball.
23:49All of that leads to steals.
23:50And the key, really, to that club, in my mind, was the offensive unselfishness.
23:55This was a team, as you mentioned, Clark, that finished in the top five in assists per game.
24:00So it was the fact that they really shared the ball.
24:03They had good ball movement and a good plan of attack all season long.
24:10Woodrick, the pass to Mbaamute.
24:12That's good.
24:15Mbaamute has got seven.
24:16Now, the offensive efficiency has been really important.
24:19I think that's been the difference.
24:21Well, you know, I think it's pretty simplistic.
24:23But it does oftentimes come down to this making shots.
24:27And that's what they've done.
24:28And a new group getting ready for the Wizards.
24:31Emeka Okafor is checked in for Kevin Serafin.
24:34Misa comes in for Trevor Booker.
24:36Beals checked in for Jordan Crawford.
24:38And John Walls subbed in for Shelvin Mack.
24:41And then for Milwaukee.
24:42Udo's checked in for Dunleavy.
24:44And it's Allison for Udrich.
24:48McGrady dishes to Udo.
24:50Launches a three.
24:52That's good.
24:52Great play set up by T-Mac.
24:54Tracy McGrady.
24:56He's got ten.
24:58What a half they're having from beyond the arc.
25:00It's getting ridiculous.
25:01And there's no reason they shouldn't keep attacking from out there.
25:05I mean, they've got it going on in a big way now.
25:09Wall attacking.
25:11Jumper off the screen.
25:12Yeah, he's struggled with his shot this quarter.
25:15And he's got to find a groove somehow.
25:18You know, the Wizards play against the rest of the East was about what you would expect.
25:23They only won about a third of their contest and had trouble with the better teams in the league.
25:33Back to Ariza.
25:35Ariza gets a screen from Okafor.
25:38Ariza kicks to Wall.
25:41Count that one.
25:44Wall's got 16 points.
25:46For the Wizards, one positive they can look to, though, is that they played very well at the end of
25:50the season.
25:51But John Wall and company always, Steve, something to build on and for toward a team next year that they
25:57might have some hope in.
25:58Well, they did finish strong, and that's always nice just for your psyche, your confidence.
26:02You know, they won their last six games in a row.
26:05Made some moves in the offseason.
26:07Drafted Bradley Beal.
26:09Made some trades.
26:10So, they have hope that they can make some dramatic improvement now.
26:14The defense caught dozing off that time.
26:16Now, those open dunks, pretty high percentage.
26:19Yeah, you're not going to miss many of those.
26:21I mean, this is really a poor defensive effort.
26:24That's now six straight points off open threes.
26:27Get a hand up, fellas.
26:28Pay attention to the scouting report.
26:30Well, you know how quickly things can go south when you start giving up wide open looks to this team.
26:37Beal with it.
26:38Now, McGrady defending.
26:47Nene, he's jacked in for Washington.
26:50Webster comes in for Trevor Ariza.
26:52And the Bucs making a change here.
27:031-0-6 left to play in the third.
27:06Here's Wall.
27:07And Webster kicks the wall.
27:11The feed now to Webster.
27:14Back to Wall.
27:18Count the bucket.
27:19Wall's got six points in the quarter.
27:22And all ten of their last points have come inside the paint.
27:25So, defensively, you've got to make an adjustment.
27:28Yeah, and you've got to do a little more to stop it, too.
27:30I mean, it's coming way too easy for them.
27:32At some points, you've just got to buck up and say it's not going to happen.
27:37Pesley's checked in for the Wizards.
27:40Ilyasova passes to Udo.
27:42Jennings.
27:43Latre.
27:44And another three for Milwaukee.
27:47They can't fault what he's been doing out there.
27:49Some really impressive shooting.
27:54Dishes to Beal.
27:56There's the screen.
28:00Back to Wall.
28:03The top of the key jumper is on the mark.
28:06Wall's got nine points here in the second half.
28:09Shot and game clock separated by five.
28:13The pass to Ilyasova.
28:18Takes a three.
28:19That's good.
28:22Ilyasova's got ten points.
28:24That's twelve straight points coming off three-pointers.
28:27I mean, somebody do something defensively.
28:29Well, I agree with you.
28:31I mean, who's going to step up?
28:33They're rolling out there now, so you've got to get in their chest,
28:36make them uncomfortable, and try to deny those looks.
28:40Well, for one, he hasn't let them down.
28:43I mean, but a few other guys need to pick up the pace that they're going to be good.
28:47The three quarters of play all in the books,
28:49and this one all but over already.
28:52The Bucs on top opening up a huge gap.
28:55Don't go anywhere.
28:56The final quarter is coming up next on 2K Sports.
29:11Coming up next Sunday night, DeMarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings
29:15hit the road for a duel with the Los Angeles Lakers.
29:24Welcome back.
29:25It's time for the fourth quarter,
29:27and time to check in with the fourth member of our team, Doris Burke,
29:30to find out who had the Sprite uncontainable game.
29:34Doris?
29:34Kevin, the uncontainable game has come from the Bucs bench.
29:38When your number is called, you have got to be prepared,
29:41and gentlemen, everyone on that bench has answered the bell.
29:45Back to you.
29:46All right, Doris, and such an asset we've seen with the reserves
29:49simply getting the job done when they've been called on here.
29:52And that's given them a real luxury in this game, guys,
29:55being able to rely on their bench for very productive minutes.
29:59Just a very, very deep team.
30:01And that may well be the biggest factor in this game, guys,
30:04when it's all said and done.
30:05You can't overstate what a bonus the contributions from the bench have been.
30:09So with Ellis sitting on the bench,
30:11here's the group that Scott Skiles has on the floor.
30:14We've got Udo.
30:15Also Memo Okur out there.
30:17Ben Levy is out there with Udrich.
30:19Here's Okur.
30:21Rebound by Webster.
30:23I tell you what, that's too good a look to pass up there.
30:26Even though it didn't go, that's one you've got to take.
30:30Mack dishes to Booker.
30:34Over Udrich.
30:35Takes it up.
30:36And Vesely slams it in.
30:39Boy, that kind of hustle you just love to see.
30:41And it gets his teammates fired up.
30:43Yeah, especially with the powerful slam to finish things off.
30:47Wasted no time on that one.
30:51The Wizards have gone 2-4 from the field
30:53since we started the final quarter of play.
30:57Here's Webster.
30:59No good.
31:00Now the Bucs take it the other way.
31:06Here's Udo.
31:08Rebound Washington.
31:09A little over a minute and a half of the fourth quarter gone now.
31:13And he slams it in one-hander.
31:16Put that paw up there and banged it home.
31:18Man, that was nice.
31:19Little Statue of Liberty.
31:20Yeah, that was strong.
31:22Simple, direct, and effective.
31:27The fader.
31:29Rebound by Vesely.
31:32Vesely's got his third rebound tonight.
31:37Here's Mack.
31:39He feeds it to Serafin.
31:43He passes to Webster.
31:45Fires for three.
31:47Here's Booker.
31:49The second chance bucket is good.
31:51And what I like watching, Kevin, with this guy
31:54is his ability to just chase down rebounds.
31:57I mean, he plays so hard.
31:59Hustles from the opening tip till the final buzzer.
32:01And it really shows with his work on the offensive glass.
32:05And Steve, quite honestly, he is their muscle.
32:07I mean, the guy they rely on for some brute force
32:09when they need it is him.
32:10Finesse isn't the first word that comes to mind
32:13when you're talking about this guy.
32:15Mack, no luck.
32:16Come on!
32:17The Bucs have gone three of six in the field so far
32:19in the fourth quarter.
32:21Down low.
32:24Gun Levy's shot is off.
32:28The Wizards have gotten just under 45%
32:31of their attempts to drop in the fourth.
32:33Four of nine.
32:34Vesely.
32:35And so he earns a trip to the line.
32:37Officials saw the contact, and he'll shoot two.
32:40And for Vesely, guys, I mean, he didn't quite have the season
32:44the Wizards might have hoped for when they drafted him number six
32:48in last year's draft.
32:49I mean, he missed some time early with a hip issue
32:52and never really got on track or was able to assert himself.
32:56Chris Singleton, he's checked in for Washington.
32:58Jordan Crawford comes in for Martial Webster.
33:01Tracy McGrady's checked in for Milwaukee.
33:04Fisher comes in for Ben Oudra.
33:06Okur kicks to Fisher.
33:08Fisher fades back.
33:10Gun Levy the pass to Udo.
33:13McGrady.
33:13Second-gen shot.
33:15Milwaukee.
33:16No good that time either.
33:19Mack dishes to Booker.
33:21Wizards passing it around.
33:24Here's Crawford.
33:26And another miss by Washington.
33:28And for Vesely, I think the focus has to be energy.
33:31You know, the skills and the muscle will come with time.
33:34But with his length and athleticism,
33:36if he can play hard,
33:38just come out and compete night after night,
33:40he can make a major impact on the game.
33:46Crawford outside.
33:54Over McGrady.
33:55Crawford's shot is good.
33:57He exposed a flaw in the defense.
33:59There's no way they're supposed to be giving him that shot.
34:05And here is Okur.
34:07Nice shot from the wing.
34:12Now here's Crawford.
34:14They need a good offensive possession.
34:16Yeah, they've had a number of empty ones a long time without a basket.
34:19They've got to find something.
34:20You're right.
34:21Singleton.
34:24Kicks it to Mack.
34:28Rebounded by Tracy McGrady.
34:30The Vox have gone 5 of 11 from the field in the fourth quarter.
34:34Okur kicks to McGrady.
34:36Dunleavy the pass to Fisher.
34:39Okur dishes to Fisher.
34:44Crawford with the ball.
34:50Rebounded by Tracy McGrady.
34:53McGrady's got his third rebound on the night.
34:56Dunleavy kicks to Fisher.
34:58Gives him the lead pass.
35:00Beyond the arc.
35:01And again, Milwaukee with the triple.
35:04And this one's pretty much wrapped up.
35:06And they know it.
35:07I mean, took care of business.
35:09Chalk it up as a W, Steve.
35:11Pass to Crawford.
35:12Get out!
35:12Get out!
35:15A rebound by the Bucs.
35:17Okur's got his third rebound on the night.
35:22Dunleavy the pass to Okur.
35:24Three-pointer.
35:25That is good.
35:28Okur's got five points now in the quarter.
35:30Wow, what a combination.
35:31A big man who can shoot from long range.
35:34Here's Crawford.
35:37And a foul called on the shot.
35:39Got him on the way up that time.
35:40So he'll shoot two right here.
35:43Jordan Crawford, just an unabashed gunner and scorer.
35:47I mean, he's looking to shoot every single time he catches the ball.
35:51A lot of people will remember him from the NBA summer camp when he was back in college,
35:56Xavier, when he dunked on LeBron James.
35:58Martell Webster.
35:59He's checked in for Chris Singleton.
36:01And you mentioned Jordan Crawford.
36:03He also said in that interview that he felt like he was better than Michael Jordan.
36:06Or at least he felt he could be better than Michael Jordan when it was all said and done.
36:11Well, you've got some pretty big words there.
36:13Yeah, you'd rather have a little more confidence than not enough.
36:16And in young players, you can sometimes forgive them for statements that are out of bounds.
36:20But I like this kid's confidence and scoring ability.
36:23And that one's good.
36:28There's a minute left in the fourth quarter.
36:34Here's Mack.
36:35He's guarded by Udrich.
36:36And Mack kicks to Crawford.
36:38Here's the three.
36:40That drops.
36:41Unbelievable.
36:42Three pointers for both sides in just a matter of seconds.
36:45Now I think it's a matter of them just trying to top each other.
36:51Now Udrich.
37:02Five to shoot.
37:06Launches it.
37:07And again, Milwaukee with the triple.
37:10And they're closing this game out in style.
37:12I mean, I like what they're doing here, competing until the very end.
37:16That's certainly what it looks like.
37:17I mean, there's no let-up in them so far.
37:20The defense got away with one there.
37:22I mean, usually, he'll hurt you if you give him that kind of a shot.
37:34And the officials signal the backcourt violation.
37:37Not very careful there.
37:44Here's Crawford.
37:46Off target.
37:47And so it's the Bucs taking care of business in this one.
