00:48Kylie's got four gorgeous children and they want this lifestyle every single day.

01:04I'm Kylie and I arrived in Australia almost two years ago.
01:09And this is my friend Courtney.
01:11And we met through our kids' school.
01:14We instantly became friends the moment we met.
01:16She really knows me. She knows my husband Mark really well.
01:20She knows the kids really well. She knows what we're after.
01:22She's got good taste in things.
01:23I think that we might be slightly different in some aspects of our tastes
01:28because I feel like Kylie might be a little bit more contemporary.
01:31So it will be interesting to see what happens with the choice.
01:36We're going to be house hunting in the northern beaches because I wanted to live by the ocean my whole
01:41life.
01:42I lived in Johannesburg in South Africa and my highlight of my life was always heading down to the coast.
01:47So this is a dream come true.
01:50The budget is not that important right now.
01:52I think we just want to see what's out there and what value we can get and where we can
01:58push to.
01:59I'm looking for a forever home.

02:02I don't want to be up and moving a lot of times.

03:16I've been living in a city for two years and I think I'm ready to head down to the beach.
03:20Got four young kids between three and eight and we're always at the beach three to four times a week.
03:26So want to be within walking distance, want to have an outdoor lifestyle.
03:30Wanting a bit of a garden.
03:31We just recently got an eight week old puppy called Sizzle the Sausage Dog.

03:36Okay, we're going to have to take Sizzle into account today.

03:54I think I am after more of a modern contemporary aesthetic.

04:02I know often looks can be deceiving from the outside and I do like how close we are to the

17:22But before we meet up to hear her decision, I was lucky enough to have a chat with Sue, the
17:28Northern Beaches Mayor,
17:29where I found out why this area is such a gem.
17:34Sue, of course it's in your right to think that the Northern Beaches is the best place in Australia.
17:40But tell us what makes this area so special.
17:42The Northern Beaches is a special slice of paradise.
17:46We've got incredible beaches, families that love living, playing here, parents that love working here.
17:53It's an extraordinary place.
17:55We've got incredible creative community here.
17:57So if you're into the arts, we've got amazing schools.
18:02We've got something for everybody.
18:03And people just love coming here.
18:06And even as far as lifestyles go, from Palm Beach right down to Manly, it's so diverse.
18:11I mean, as you say, we're here in Manly now, which is as big as some towns altogether.
18:15Then Palm Beach is a completely different story.
18:17Absolutely.
18:18And that's what makes it really unique here.
18:20When we've got so many beaches, we've got lagoons, it is an incredible place to discover your favourite area.
18:28Before you became the mayor of this area, what did a normal day look like for you?
18:33I imagine it's very different now, but how did you enjoy this area?
18:36It's funny.
18:37I moved here for love.
18:38The love didn't last, but I fell in love with the community.
18:41And that's why I stayed here.
18:44And I find that most people who come here find that incredible community themselves, which are just extraordinary people.
18:51Communities here really care about each other.
18:53We have the highest rate of volunteerism than virtually anywhere in New South Wales here,
18:58because the people here really want to help others and give back.
19:02It is an extraordinary place to live.

19:34Let's talk through house number one, which was so close to the centre of town here.
19:40The location was fantastic.
19:42The actual home was beautiful.
19:44It was classic.
19:45The flow was fantastic.
19:47It was an entertainer's dream.
19:48The only concern I think I had was that I am looking for something with a bit of a bigger
19:54yard and a pool.
19:56It had a lot of storage space.
19:58It could really help, you know, we could really fit quite nicely into that home.
20:03Okay, then house number two, we went a little bit further up the coast, North Curl Curl.
20:08That beach is endless, really.
20:10And I can see you sending your kids down to the surf club and just watching them from the balcony.
20:15That location was fantastic.
20:16I definitely got a suburban feel, relaxed, quieter streets.
20:21There's definitely a appeal in that.
20:23It's a little more, you know, contemporary.
20:25And that yard, that yard was fantastic with the pool area, sauna pool.
20:29It felt like you could be living in a resort.
20:33Number three, a bit of a curve ball.
20:36Endless views, again, all the way up to Palm Beach along the coastline.
20:40Really contemporary style living there, but it was an oversized apartment.
20:45Yeah, beautiful.
20:45Those views, you would never beat those views.
20:47And it's just a different lifestyle and way of living.
20:50I can imagine that to be quite minimalistic, low maintenance.
20:54I think the lifestyle we could have in that apartment would be unbeatable.
20:58You're right on the beach.
20:59You could chuck the kids over the wall into knifers.
21:03Did any of the houses you see fit the bill?
21:06So I think it comes down to the fact that it's given me more insight into what I want.
