00:01:00It's the famous Hans Christian Andersen story of a boy who received a most marvelous birthday present.
00:01:06A box of beautifully painted tin soldiers.
00:01:10They were so perfectly made that it seemed that they might come to life.
00:01:14However, as carefully crafted as these figures were, there was a flaw.
00:01:18One soldier had been cast with only one leg.
00:01:20To remedy this, he'd been finished with a false leg.
00:01:23For the boy, this one-legged soldier seemed even more special and lifelike than the rest.
00:01:30As it happened, midnight in the nursery was a magical time when all of the toys and dolls came out
00:01:35to play.
00:01:36There, the tin soldier met the most incredible characters like the extraordinary rag doll.
00:01:46There was the sailor, the strong man and the clown, and many others as well.
00:01:54But nothing could have prepared the soldier for the exquisitely beautiful, incomparably graceful ballerina.
00:02:02For him, it was love at first sight.
00:02:08She danced with such elegance and style that the soldier felt as if his tin would melt.
00:02:15All was not fine in the nursery, however.
00:02:18An evil goblin, who took the form of a jack-in-the-box, did not wish the tin soldier well.
00:02:23While the children slept, the goblin came alive to express this displeasure over the romance between the soldier and the
00:02:30ballerina.
00:02:32Keep your eyes to yourself, sneered the evil jack-in-the-box.
00:02:36In fact, keep to yourself altogether!
00:02:41A terrific struggle took place, and the tin soldier was overpowered and flung over the wall of the cardboard castle,
00:02:48and out a window where he fell into the street and down a drain into the sewer.
00:02:54Once in the sewer, he was forced to defend himself from an army of surly water rats.
00:02:59He sailed out of the sewer on a fragile broken teacup and was swallowed by a great fish.
00:03:06So join in the sparkling magic, the astounding surprises, the drama and suspense,
00:03:13and the love and warmth of this timeless Hans Christian Andersen classic.
00:03:18It's a story of great romance set to fantastic music and the spectacular dance of the Ottawa ballet.
00:03:25The Tin Soldier, first-class entertainment for the whole family,
00:03:29from celebrities just for kids, the name to remember in children's entertainment.
00:03:48It was springtime, and bursts of color began to fill the forest as thousands of new lives were beginning.
00:03:59The familiar smells of the season were in the air, as the setting sun welcomed in the night.
00:04:08Deep in the forest, in the hollow of a thick old tree, a new family of foxes played together.
00:04:20Look, dear, aren't they sweet?
00:04:23Yes, they are. I'm so proud of our new little ones.
00:04:26And you're such a wonderful mother.
00:04:28It's so easy with you as their father, darling.
00:04:31Oh, look at that little rascal.
00:04:34He's a frisky one. He's very much like his granddad.
00:04:38Uh-huh. You're right. He's just like him.
00:04:40I'll bet he'll be a good hunter, too.
00:04:43Let's call him Vic, like his grandfather.
00:04:46Vic?
00:04:47Uh-huh.
00:04:47If I can see it, I can catch it.
00:04:49That's what he always used to say, old granddad.
00:04:53And one day, when you grow up, you'll be able to catch what you see, too.
00:04:57Oh!
00:04:58Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
00:05:18Hey, let go of my ear.
00:05:21That hurts. Let it go.
00:05:23Now, don't be naughty.
00:05:25But he's always biting my ears, Ma.
00:05:26Thanks a lot. Now she's going to send us to bed.
00:05:29All right, be quiet.
00:05:31It's not my fault, Ma. It's him.
00:05:34Betty time, children. It's late, and you have to get your rest.
00:05:39Vic, dear, you have to go to sleep.
00:05:41Oh, Mom. You're always making us go to sleep.
00:05:46That's enough now.
00:05:47Go to bed, little Vic,
00:05:49so father can go out hunting.
00:05:52Well, off I go, then.
00:05:54At their age, as soon as they wake up, they'll be asking for food.
00:05:58Well, I'll be back by morning.
00:05:59What would you like, a rooster or a duck?
00:06:01A duck!
00:06:03How about a fish?
00:06:04I'm sure we'll appreciate whatever your daddy can get.
00:06:07The main thing is that he returns home safe and sound.
00:06:11Well, why wouldn't he?
00:06:12Your father is going hunting, and hunting is very...
00:06:15It's very late till you go to sleep.
00:06:17But, Ma, I want to know.
00:06:18Hunting is very dangerous, my boy,
00:06:20and your father will teach you that soon.
00:06:23Take care out there, Khan.
00:06:25I'll miss you.
00:06:27Don't worry about me.
00:06:28Before you know it, I'll be back with food.
00:06:30If hunting can be dangerous,
00:06:35I'd better keep an eye on him.
00:06:39Karoo, karoo!
00:06:40Oop!
00:06:43Call! Call! Call!
00:06:45A fox! A fox!
00:06:46Let it learn!
00:06:47Now cut that out and hush up,
00:06:49or you'll be very sorry.
00:06:50Hey, you heard what he said.
00:06:51Cut that out and be quiet.
00:06:53Hey, why should I, huh?
00:06:55You little mouse!
00:06:57Hey, yeah, I am little,
00:06:58but I am not a mouse.
00:06:59Right, Dad?
00:07:00What are you doing here?
00:07:01Uh, well, I want to help you to hunt.
00:07:04What?
00:07:05It's dangerous out here.
00:07:07Go home.
00:07:08Ha!
00:07:08That little fox hunt?
00:07:09What a laugh!
00:07:11I dare you to climb down!
00:07:12That's what they call a bird, Vic.
00:07:14And he can't climb down,
00:07:16but he can fly away.
00:07:18Okay, I can take a hint.
00:07:20Hey, what's that he's doing, Dad?
00:07:23That's called flying.
00:07:24Can I fly like that?
00:07:26No, you can't.
00:07:27So you trot along home, son.
00:07:29I'd like to stay, Dad.
00:07:30I'd like to help.
00:07:31I know you would,
00:07:32and you'll have your chance another time.
00:07:35Oh, please let me come along.
00:07:37I'm not going to say it again.
00:07:39Go home.
00:07:41Where does he get these ideas?
00:07:43He's just like his granddad, all right.
00:07:46If I can see it, I can catch it.
00:07:48Just like granddad.
00:07:50Oh, I wish he'd let me go hunting.
00:07:53Dad has all the fun,
00:07:55and he makes me go on home.
00:07:57Oh, hey, look at that weird thing.
00:08:00I wonder if it's good to eat.
00:08:04If I can see it, I can catch it.
00:08:08If I jump like him,
00:08:10he'll think I'm whatever he is.
00:08:20What's this?
00:08:21A frog fox or a fox frog?
00:08:24It jumps like a frog.
00:08:28But it's not a frog.
00:08:30It's a fox.
00:08:41Hey, come here.
00:08:48Oh, come on.
00:08:49You can't just stay hiding underwater forever.
00:08:52I want you to give me a real big cock-a-doodle-doo.
00:08:56Understand?
00:08:56It's got to be really loud.
00:08:58So, cock-a-doodle-doo.
00:09:00And don't worry about a thing.
00:09:01I'm on the job.
00:09:02Yeah.
00:09:03I grow the fox will come.
00:09:05Right here.
00:09:05Now I get it.
00:09:07Hey, Marty.
00:09:08Listen.
00:09:09That's exactly what we're trying to do here tonight,
00:09:11you and me.
00:09:12You let go with one of your cock-a-doodle-doos
00:09:15and when he hears you, he'll come and I'll nab him.
00:09:18Got it?
00:09:19No.
00:09:20I guess I'll have to spell it out for him.
00:09:22I'll just watch out and when he gets here, it's easy.
00:09:26I'll just catch him.
00:09:27Now do it.
00:09:31No, no.
00:09:32Not like that.
00:09:33Your voice, it sounds so shrill.
00:09:36It sounds like you suspect something.
00:09:40Hey, I don't get it.
00:09:41What did I suspect?
00:09:43Huh?
00:09:43That's not the point.
00:09:45Now do it.
00:09:46Real fierce and strong.
00:09:47Go on.

00:24:17you don't want the whole wide world to know that we're going hunting silence silence means food my boy
00:24:25and with silence we're able to catch our prey don't forget what you've just learned it's a very important
00:24:31lesson i'll remember it all i want to learn everything you will
00:24:44okay now who's the hunter's best friend by now you must know the answer to that question i'm learning to
00:24:52hunt and you you're the teacher so it's you i'm flattered but that's not the answer well let's see
00:24:58i think i know you're a great hunter and you hunt when it's dark car and someday i'll be a
00:25:05great
00:25:05hunter just like you and what's the answer go on the best friend of a good hunter is darkness good
00:25:12that's the answer caroc what is it now that's three three what you see you've taught me three things
00:25:21already first to sleep during the day second to bear hunger and third keep quiet oh no there's four of
00:25:28them the fourth thing is that darkness is our best friend i learned all that caroc and i won't forget
00:25:34it either where are you going vic i'm going hunting you taught me the rules you've a lot more to
00:25:42learn
00:25:42before you can hunt hey attention vic watch your step and move carefully see just like this you mustn't
00:25:50leave a trail and so you must step lightly and sneak along as if you were a shadow you got
00:25:57it
00:25:58a shadow i'll be like a shadow you tried
00:26:08well how was it am i a good shadow did i do it just right you'll be better in time
00:26:14let's go
00:26:23what did i do now keep in mind that it's not you who's taking me hunting all right i'm taking
00:26:29you
00:26:29i'm sorry i forgot the first thing you've got to do is to check for the wind okay i'll start
00:26:36checking
00:26:36it now what are you going to check for i'll check to see if it's blowing look look it's blowing
00:26:42there
00:26:42now that you've found the wind watch the direction from where the wind comes to see where your scent is
00:26:48going make sure that the wind doesn't blow your scent right to your prey five that's five what's that
00:26:54sleep in the daytime tolerate hunger keep quiet darkness is our best friend and look to see which
00:27:01way the wind blows that makes five and that's all of them see uncle i'm learning
00:27:09i smell something i'm going hunting wish me luck okay if i can see it i can catch it
00:27:21and now another lesson gotcha
00:27:26if i can see it i can catch it big deal you can't even tell the difference between a bird
00:27:33and a porcupine wise guy dick you're wasting your time that's right
00:27:37a porcupine is too hard to get at you bet because when he senses trouble he curls up into a
00:27:43thorny ball and
00:27:44he's protected by those sharp quills i couldn't have put it better myself what if i turn him upside
00:27:49down huh i could take a little bite i bet he doesn't have sharp quills everywhere he's nuts go
00:27:56ahead and try it come on didn't you learn anything from getting those quills in your nose i guess so
00:28:03i'll have to skin him i'll be back oh yeah if you do you better bring your doctor along
00:28:10brave kid just like a fox here i come try to be more quiet and move like a shadow i
00:28:19told you i'm
00:28:20sorry carrick i know you told me that you must be able to hear sounds that are even quieter than
00:28:25whispers okay i promise now i'll be quiet all right let's go i'm getting hungry
00:28:37hey i smell something carrick what is it that's meow the cat she left the farmer's house to live in
00:28:45the wild like us i bet you she'd taste good but her claws are too dangerous don't bother her i've
00:28:53seen
00:28:53a lot of foxes with only one eye because of that cat let's leave her alone all right she's probably
00:29:00looking for a nest does she live in a nest of course not she's looking for a nest to rob
00:29:05what's in it
00:29:07but maybe she's looking for a mouse cats are good hunters
00:29:20you were sneaking up huh sneaking around down there huh better watch out i'm a big
00:29:30mean cat wow look at my sharp claws that's better big i told you not to bother that cat but
00:29:42honest
00:29:42i was moving just like a shadow that's true but you let her see your eyes they were shining well
00:29:48that's
00:29:48not my fault i just can't help it they shine no matter what i do well let's leave her alone
00:29:54the house found herself a good place to rest up there i bet she won't be down until after dawn
00:29:59next time think of your eyes keep them almost shut but i won't be able to see them how can
00:30:06i go
00:30:07hunting your nose will tell you all you need to know if you let your eyes frighten your prey
00:30:13you'll have nothing to eat and if you don't have anything to eat oh i don't even want to think
00:30:19about it if you have no food you'll grow weaker and weaker oh no i don't want to be weak
00:30:25try this jump
00:30:26okay don't worry vic it takes practice and you'll do better next time
00:30:39hey what's that
00:30:43his eyes he's shining them it's not fair that he gets to shine them if i can't who
00:30:52karak what is he saying what a great dinner i just had that's who he's what you call an owl
00:31:01did you hear
00:31:02that he just had a great dinner his eyes were shining he's making noise and still he got to eat
00:31:08we walk like shadows we're very quiet we hunt only when it's very dark out we checked the wind and
00:31:15we're
00:31:15still hungry should i make sounds like him never mind him he won't bother you when you go out hunting
00:31:23for ducks he only likes to eat little mice so don't worry he wouldn't know what to do with a
00:31:28duck if it
00:31:29fell on him i won't stand here and listen to this they're just jealous that's all oh
00:31:35oh very funny be careful with him though because his talons are sharp and his beak is strong
00:31:44i'm not scared let's go we're wasting time it's almost dawn
00:31:54this is rotten luck we'll never catch anything here now listen to the noise they're making you've
00:32:00got a hand to know those wild pigs they work hard in the forest not like those lazy ones on
00:32:07the farm
00:32:08i've an idea we'll go to the lake it's quieter there a frog's in the lake and i know where
00:32:13he is
00:32:14why don't we catch him
00:32:20i'm hungry what's that i smell that's the smell of the hunter's house you must beware of him
00:32:29do you hear you mustn't go there or he'll kill you with his thunder stick he hunts for foxes
00:32:36is he the one that hunted dad and mom yes vic he's the one he'd find out sooner or later
00:32:42oh he's the
00:32:44one who took him away clorock have you ever seen that hunter man yes i have have you been in
00:32:54the house
00:32:55no no fox that i've ever heard of has been there the only animals there are servants of the master
00:33:03of the
00:33:03house oh and he trains his dogs to track us down vic we'd better leave
00:33:13okay little fella go catch your frog i'll just keep an eye on you from here think you can do
00:33:19it yeah
00:33:20if you have any trouble just holler and i'll be right there
00:33:28you don't love me but i love you so
00:33:42oh
00:33:43oh that was a close one where was i i'm in love won't you love me too
00:34:10Oh, he won't catch a thing at this rate.
00:34:13I wonder where he is.
00:34:22Oh, I bet he fell in.
00:34:24I'd better go see.
00:34:26I'm beginning to think this kid's going to be a real handful.
00:34:29And I'm not much of a babysitter.
00:34:31Oh, well.
00:34:35They'll learn in time.
00:34:36The main thing is that he's trying.
00:34:46Well, I caught one at last.
00:34:48I really caught one.
00:34:50Carrick will be glad to see this.
00:34:51Who are you, kid?
00:34:53Speak up.
00:34:54What are you doing here?
00:34:55Why should I tell you?
00:34:56Because this is my territory.
00:34:58I asked you a question.
00:35:01Vic.
00:35:02Vic's my name.
00:35:03And I'm a hunter.
00:35:04And you can't have the duck that I caught.
00:35:06He's mine because I caught him.
00:35:08He's mine.
00:35:09We'll see if he's yours or not, you little runt.
00:35:14If you're not out of here in one minute, I'll bite you in half.
00:35:17Get going.
00:35:19Oh, goodness.
00:35:21I should have seen the resemblance sooner.
00:35:23Oh, yes.
00:35:24You look like your father, Khan.
00:35:26He was the son of the great Vic.
00:35:28Carrick is your great uncle then, isn't he?
00:35:30I bet he's the one who taught you to be such a good hunter.
00:35:33Of course he was.
00:35:35Uh-huh.
00:35:36I see.
00:35:37All the foxes know that this is Carrick's territory.
00:35:40Yep.
00:35:41Mm-hmm.
00:35:42Well, I'd better get going on home.
00:35:46I was just passing.
00:35:46Uh-huh.
00:35:47Well then, bye.
00:35:49See you again.
00:35:50Tell your uncle that I said my regards and that if he doesn't mind, I'll stop by to visit him
00:35:54soon.
00:35:55Better get out of here.
00:35:56I'll start getting rough.
00:35:58And don't come back.
00:35:59You're not a fox.
00:36:00You're a weasel.
00:36:05That took courage, what you did there, little Vic.
00:36:08You defended your duck.
00:36:10Uncle, I caught him.
00:36:12Tore his bolt.
00:36:13That's nice, Vic.
00:36:14But what are you waiting for?
00:36:16Let's share it.
00:36:19I'll have this end and you can have the other end.
00:36:21You sure you want that end?
00:36:23Uh-huh.
00:36:24It's my favorite.
00:36:25What should I do now?
00:36:27First, you have to pluck out the feathers.
00:36:29One thing you'll learn about feathers is they don't taste very good at all.
00:36:36As the days grew longer, spring turned into summer.
00:36:40The warming rays of the sun made the flowers blossom and the crops grow tall.
00:36:46Vic grew stronger and braver.
00:36:48He was taught many things by his kind Uncle Cock, but he still had much to learn.
00:36:57Look, fellas, those birds over there must see something.
00:37:00I wonder if it's a fox that's scaring them.
00:37:03But the wheat's so high I can't see a thing.
00:37:06Tomorrow they'll be harvesting that field, and then we'll see if there's a fox in there.
00:37:21Well, Vic, what do you think about our summer residence?
00:37:26It's better than the cave.
00:37:28It's nice and shady, isn't it?
00:37:33No one's going to bother us here.
00:37:37Yeah, I like it a lot.
00:37:39I was really getting tired of that dark old cave of ours.
00:37:43And you know, this'll do just fine.
00:37:54Vic, come back here right now.
00:37:56What do you think you're doing?
00:37:59Uh, I was going to run in the field.
00:38:01Is that okay?
00:38:02Naturally, I'll stay right here, if you'd rather.
00:38:04But I'd like to check out the area, okay?
00:38:07Be careful, then.
00:38:11Hey, come here.
00:38:13I just want to talk to you.
00:38:14A little chit-chat, a little get-together, that's all.
00:38:17I like little guys like you.
00:38:19Fat little blue jays.
00:38:21Fat tasty little delicious blue jays.
00:38:23Slow down.
00:38:24Let's cut the marathon, okay?
00:38:25Hey, wait.
00:38:31What's a big hurry?
00:38:33Come here.
00:38:34I just want to tell you a story, that's all.
00:38:37A fairy tale about a mama bird and a little chit-tick.
00:38:41Here, or I'll get mad.
00:38:45All right, you ask for it.
00:38:55Hey, I promise it won't hurt.
00:38:58Hey, uh-oh.
00:39:03What did you just say?
00:39:04Hey, I promise it won't hurt.
00:39:13Hey, I'm gonna get evil with you, yeah.
00:39:18Hey, my feathers.
00:39:20You're gonna pay, buddy.
00:39:23Hey, yeah.
00:39:25You know what I'm gonna do?
00:39:27I'm gonna tell the dogs where you are.
00:39:30Yeah.
00:39:31Ha!
00:39:32Ha!
00:39:32Ha!
00:39:34Ha!
00:39:36Ha!
00:39:36Ha!
00:39:37Ha!
00:39:38Ha!
00:39:48Ha!
00:39:50Ha!
00:39:51Ha!
00:39:52Ha!
00:40:13So, this must be the place, huh?
00:40:16I guess Carrick doesn't know about the food here.
00:40:19I'll have to tell him.
00:40:21Oh, yum.
00:40:22I wonder if there are any more fancy birds up there.
00:40:33Hey there, Piggy.
00:40:35What a lazy one you are.
00:40:36Why don't you live in the forest instead of being all caged up?
00:40:40Huh?
00:40:45What are you doing there?
00:40:47Ha!
00:40:48You must be one of the servants.
00:40:50No!
00:40:51Then you're a coward not to stay in the forest and hunt for yourself.
00:40:55Well, you're lazy or what?
00:40:57Don't say that.
00:40:58I'm not.
00:40:59I don't wanna stay in this place.
00:41:01I was captured by that old farmer when I was very small.
00:41:05Hey, why don't you chew your way out of there?
00:41:07And then you could come out and you'd be free.
00:41:09I've tried that.
00:41:11I tried to chew my way out of here, but the bars aren't made of wood.
00:41:14They're made of something quite a bit harder.
00:41:16Poor thing.
00:41:18Don't leave.
00:41:19Don't leave.
00:41:19Oh, please don't go yet.
00:41:21I've never met someone nice like you before.
00:41:24Will you help me?
00:41:25I'll help you to get out of there.
00:41:26Don't you worry.
00:41:27Later tonight.
00:41:28Oh, don't leave.
00:41:29Please get me out right now.
00:41:31You're my only hope.
00:41:32But I promise I'll come back.
00:41:34Yeah.
00:41:35Later.
00:41:35Tonight.
00:41:36With my uncle.
00:41:37He's clever and I know he'll think of something to get you out.
00:41:40Are you sure?
00:41:40Uh-huh.
00:41:41Promise you'll get me out tonight, okay?
00:41:43Don't worry.
00:41:44Before you know it, I'll have that pretty face of yours on this side of the bars.
00:41:53See you later, Foxy.
00:42:10Honey.
00:42:11Fido.
00:42:12Come on.
00:42:13Get inside.
00:42:14Hurry up before you catch cold.
00:42:17Look at you.
00:42:18You're sopping wet.
00:42:20What weather.
00:42:22No, it's you.
00:42:24Get back outside.
00:42:27Go on.
00:42:28You heard me.
00:42:29Right now.
00:42:37No smart fox would ever get so near to that house.
00:42:40I promised her, though.
00:42:41We'd have to go there now.
00:42:43Ah, well, Vic.
00:42:45No talking you out of this, so I guess I'll go with you.
00:42:50I'd only do this for you, remember?
00:42:52Thank you, Uncle.
00:42:53And you should remember that I'll take care of you forever to thank you for this great kindness.
00:42:59Even when you're old.
00:43:01I promise.
00:43:02That's a nice thought.
00:43:04But let's save her first.
00:43:10I knew you'd come.
00:43:11You said your uncle would think of something.
00:43:14Foxy, I'd like to introduce my Uncle Carrack.
00:43:17He's the bravest and the wisest fox in the whole wide world.
00:43:21And he's the best teacher.
00:43:22He taught me everything I know.
00:43:24And what's your name?
00:43:25You forgot to tell me it this afternoon.
00:43:27That's enough.
00:43:29Talk later.
00:43:31We must start digging.
00:43:32We have to get her out while it's still raining.
00:43:35Now, Vic.
00:43:36Uh-huh.
00:43:36Guard us.
00:43:37Be the lookout.
00:43:38And you should start digging inside.
00:43:43Get going!
00:43:53I can't.
00:43:55What's going on in there?
00:43:57Hey, stop making such a racket.
00:43:59But...
00:44:00My nails aren't strong enough.
00:44:01That's because you never had to use them.
00:44:04I'm sorry.
00:44:05Just keep trying.
00:44:13Vic!
00:44:16Vic!
00:44:17Vic!
00:44:17Come here quickly and start digging.
00:44:20I need a rest.
00:44:26Uh-oh.
00:44:27There's trouble, Carrack.
00:44:29What is it?
00:44:30There's no way to get in the cage from down here.
00:44:33Don't give up.
00:44:35Don't give up.
00:44:35Not yet.
00:44:37Carrack.
00:44:37Think of something.
00:44:39She can't stay in there.
00:44:40I gotta get her out of there.
00:44:42Tonight.
00:44:42I tell you, it can't be done.
00:44:45It's much too hard.
00:44:46We can't break the bars with our teeth.
00:44:48I just gotta get her out.
00:44:50I got it.
00:44:52Yeah.
00:44:53We can try to do it anyhow.
00:44:55We'll break the cage.
00:44:57Vic!
00:44:57Where are you going?
00:44:59It's crazy.
00:44:59How can we possibly break it?
00:45:01What are you doing over there?
00:45:04I need your help, Carrack.
00:45:06Better get in the corner, Foxy.
00:45:08Yeah.
00:45:08All right.
00:45:13Carrack, watch out!
00:45:15Here it goes!
00:45:21What was that?
00:45:23Will you listen to that thunder?
00:45:25Easy, easy.
00:45:28Keep quiet.
00:45:30That's enough.
00:45:35Take it easy there, fellas.
00:45:38I said, take it easy.
00:45:40Perfect.
00:45:48No!

00:46:15No!
00:46:18No!
00:46:19I hope you don't mind if I tell her about you.
00:46:21I can't tell you how proud I am of him.
00:46:24He's smart and strong and good-hearted.
00:46:28I don't think anybody else could have done what he did today.
00:46:31Don't you agree with me?
00:46:33Oh, yes. Of course I do.
00:46:36And do you know who raised him?
00:46:39Taught him everything he knows.
00:46:41He did.
00:46:42But now he really needs to sleep.
00:46:44We've all had a rough day.
00:46:47You can stay with us, okay?
00:46:49Is that all right, Uncle Karak?
00:46:52Yep. Well, of course.
00:46:54There's room enough for all of us.
00:46:56Yep.
00:46:59Let's go to sleep.
00:47:01I don't ever remember being this tired.
00:47:05We all need a good rest.
00:47:09Both of you, sweet dreams.
00:47:12Now go to sleep.
00:47:14And thank you for everything, Karak.
00:47:18And Vic, thank you, too.
00:47:20Sleep tight, my friends.
00:47:23If I can see him, I can catch him.
00:47:27Oh, what a laugh.
00:47:29Ha-ha!
00:47:29Oh, Karakar!
00:47:32Good.
00:47:33There's the hunter, just as I expected.
00:47:37Karakar!
00:47:38Now I'll get evil here for pulling out my feathers.
00:47:43Ah!
00:47:45I see he's a little worm.
00:47:48Now there's three of them.
00:47:50Oh, he's going to be more fun than I thought.
00:47:53Hey, Mr. Hunter!
00:47:55Yoo-hoo!
00:47:56There's something here!
00:47:58Ha-ha-ha!
00:48:01Keep at it, Fido.
00:48:03Come on, Barney.
00:48:04Do your job.
00:48:05That bird's not hollering out there for nothing.
00:48:09This way!
00:48:10He's getting closer, and his dogs are with him.
00:48:14He's coming over here, sir!
00:48:17Ha-ha-ha-ha!
00:48:21Well, I sure am glad to see you guys down there.
00:48:25Well, they'll know to sit there.
00:48:27Come on!
00:48:29He's first to see the bushes!
00:48:33There's three of them!
00:48:34I'm pointing right at them!
00:48:36Barney, Fido, down.
00:48:38We'll wait.
00:48:40They'll come to us.
00:48:45The sound of those combines will scare them.
00:48:48That'll make them leave their hiding place and run this way.
00:48:57Huh?
00:49:01Thanks!
00:49:03Let's get out of here.
00:49:05All this noise, the hunter can sneak up on us.
00:49:08Let's go.
00:49:09Wait!
00:49:09It could be dangerous.
00:49:11Nick, we have no choice.
00:49:13So let's be sure that we try not to run too close together.
00:49:16That way, they might not get all of us.
00:49:18Fido.
00:49:19They're right nearby.
00:49:20Stay here.
00:49:21I'll look around.
00:49:22Come back!
00:49:27Ha-ha-ha!
00:49:28He's running!
00:49:29I told him!
00:49:30The fox is coming!
00:49:32I told you I'd get you!
00:49:36Oh!
00:49:37Oh!
00:49:39Hell, get you any second now!
00:49:41Hell, that'll teach you not to steer my fetish!
00:49:45Oh, no!
00:49:47No!
00:49:48He's getting away!
00:49:50Oh, yeah!
00:49:51Yeah!
00:49:51I don't believe it!
00:49:54I saw the farmer.
00:49:55He's waiting at the edge of the field.
00:49:57He'll have to go the other way.
00:50:00We can't do that.
00:50:01Listen to that noise.
00:50:03Now what?
00:50:06Karak, I know that you're smarter and wiser than me, but please, you've got to trust me!
00:50:11There's no time to waste!
00:50:13Follow me!
00:50:17Hey!
00:50:18Hey!
00:50:21The fox is just getting away!
00:50:24Hey!
00:50:24Over there!
00:50:25Look, there's a fox!
00:50:26There's two of them!
00:50:28I see three of them.
00:50:30I'll hit them off!
00:50:33They're not afraid of anything!
00:50:35They ran right past the combines!
00:50:37They're getting away!
00:50:39Crawl!
00:50:40Crawl!
00:50:41Crawl!
00:50:42Attack me!
00:50:44Those farmers are so clumsy!
00:50:49Now, the noisy birds scare them away.
00:50:53Starship!
00:50:54What are you waiting for?
00:50:57Crawl!
00:50:57Crawl!
00:50:58A rich imitation?
00:51:00Well, I'm happy!
00:51:01Come on!
00:51:02Come on!
00:51:02Crawl!
00:51:03Crawl!
00:51:03Hey!
00:51:04Hey!
00:51:04Hey!
00:51:05Hey!
00:51:05Hey!
00:51:06Hey!
00:51:07Hey!
00:51:07I'm just trying to help you, for peace' sake!
00:51:10Crawl!
00:51:11Crawl!
00:51:12Crawl!
00:51:12Crawl!
00:51:13Crawl!
00:51:15Vic, today, without you, we would have been done for.
00:51:19Now, the day has come.
00:51:21You have grown up.
00:51:22You're free to live your life where you will be.
00:51:24You wish, and with whom you wish.
00:51:29If you want to, we can stay together, or you can go out on your own.
00:51:33It's your decision.
00:51:35What are you saying?
00:51:37You don't have to ask.
00:51:38You know the answer.
00:51:41Yep.
00:51:41Of course.
00:51:42I've decided that we should stay together, and I'm so happy that the three of us all agreed
00:51:47to that.
00:51:48Oh, Vic.
00:51:49And I guess three heads are better than one, and this way we can all help each other
00:51:53when we go out hunting.
00:51:55That all right, Carrack?
00:51:57Yes, it's all right.
00:51:58Why are you staring at us, Uncle?
00:52:00I'm...
00:52:01It's nothing.
00:52:02It's just that...
00:52:04It's just that I'm so proud of you.
00:52:08Okay, you sweethearts.
00:52:10It's about time.
00:52:12We were going.
00:52:21The days grew shorter as summer turned to autumn.
00:52:25The chilly air bid farewell to the leaves of the trees, and the three foxes were no longer
00:52:31protected by the cover of foliage.
00:52:38The farmer has turned their attention from harvesting their crops to hunting.
00:52:42Fox hunting.
00:52:53Vic, Foxy, stay close to the ground.
00:52:57Come on.
00:52:58Let's go this way.
00:53:02Stop, Carrack.
00:53:05We're too late.
00:53:06They have us surrounded.
00:53:10Unless...
00:53:10I got it.
00:53:11Let's go.
00:53:12Come on.
00:53:13All right.
00:53:20I think we can hide here.
00:53:22We can see the hunters, but they can't see us.
00:53:29Well, I knew there'd be trouble, but I didn't think it would ever be this terrible.
00:53:36Let's run.
00:53:36No, we shouldn't.
00:53:39I suppose that you're right.
00:53:41Three of us together don't stand a chance anyway.
00:53:45Carrack, listen to me.
00:53:46I know I'm younger than you, but please listen.
00:53:49I saw that man, and he brought his dogs and his thunder stick with him.
00:53:53If we run, we'll be killed.
00:53:55But if we stay right here, very still, they might not notice us.
00:54:00What do you think?
00:54:01Look, there's a fox.
00:54:05Two of them.
00:54:10I'll meet you at the cave.
00:54:12Wait, don't leave yet.
00:54:19Oh, they got him.
00:54:21But why did he jump like that?
00:54:23Why?
00:54:29Oh, you found me.
00:54:32I sure fooled them, didn't I?
00:54:35Go on.
00:54:37We're okay.
00:54:38I'm just very tired right now, and I really need to rest.
00:54:43I just want you to enjoy your life.
00:54:46Don't worry about me.
00:54:47I'll be fine.
00:54:55You hear the latest?
00:54:57What's the new gossip?
00:54:59Tell us.
00:55:00Huh?
00:55:01Come on.
00:55:04What's the news at the house?
00:55:06Get a load of this.
00:55:08Barney got tricked again by that sly fox, Vic.
00:55:12This time, what did he get, that little rascal?
00:55:16Well, he took the best chicken.
00:55:21Straight out of the coop.
00:55:23Can you believe it?
00:55:24And he did it right under that old hound's nose.
00:55:27Stalled another twelve chickens and three ducks.
00:55:30All in one night.
00:55:33That fox shouldn't be giving Barney a commission.
00:55:42Oh, what a disaster.
00:55:45It's a disaster.
00:55:47I'll never live it down.
00:55:51What's gotten into those dogs?
00:55:53Hey, Chester, when are you going to bring me those eggs?
00:55:56All right, hold your horses.
00:55:58How many times do I have to tell you?
00:56:06No, no, the darn fox.
00:56:10How did he get in?
00:56:11Ah, through the window.
00:56:19I hope he didn't get into the coop again.
00:56:22Why the heck do I keep you guys around
00:56:24if you let the fox come in whenever he wants?
00:56:32Something fishy.
00:56:34I don't like this.
00:56:38It's too quiet.
00:56:41Well, let's see.
00:56:43Now, now that fox has really done it.
00:56:47He got all of them.
00:56:52My prized chicken.
00:56:56And my two silly geese.
00:56:59How am I going to explain this?
00:57:01They were already sold.
00:57:11My goodness.
00:57:13Well, dear, did you hear what he said?
00:57:15What do you think he meant?
00:57:17Well, how should I know?
00:57:20All I know is that he said that thing about us again.
00:57:28I mean, I don't know what he means.
00:57:33Those silly geese.
00:57:34I don't get it.
00:57:36As silly as a goose.
00:57:38I guess that means that we tell good jokes.
00:57:43Remember the one I told him last week?
00:57:50Let's go.
00:57:52I think we should hold on to each other.
00:57:55That way we won't fall down when we walk.
00:57:59Look, all right, let's go find out what all the fuss is about.
00:58:04Oh, thank God at least these two are safe.
00:58:11Fido, Barney, get over here.
00:58:15Listen to me.
00:58:16All I've got left are these two geese.
00:58:19If they're stolen, that's it for you.
00:58:21Guard them with your life.
00:58:22You heard them.
00:58:23That goes for you also.
00:58:25Is that understood?
00:58:26I'll be counting on you.
00:58:30Now get this into your heads.
00:58:32If that fox gets these two, I'll turn you both into rugs.
00:58:42Oh, we've become so important, did you hear?
00:58:46Well, they can count on me.
00:58:50I won't keep them from doing their duty.
00:58:55Not me.
00:58:57No, sir.
00:59:00Come on, now.
00:59:01Let's sing a song for them.
00:59:03It's the least we can do.
00:59:04We'll entertain them.
00:59:06Oh, MacDonald had a farm.
00:59:09E-I-E-I-O.
00:59:12And on that farm he had some geese.
00:59:17Sing along.
00:59:19Well, I don't think they like the song.
00:59:21I know what.
00:59:22Ha, let's change the words.
00:59:25All right.
00:59:26Hush.
00:59:27I'm in charge here now, and you're going to do what I say to do.
00:59:31Got it?
00:59:34It's just our luck, isn't it?
00:59:36Bill, he didn't like that verse.
00:59:38Let's just sing him another verse.
00:59:40On the farm he had a dog.
00:59:44Quiet!
00:59:45All right, all right.
00:59:50This is a cry in shame.
00:59:52Me, I feel just the same.
00:59:55Oh, yeah, well, you know, I'm supposed to be a hunting dog, not some kind of sheriff.
01:00:00Oh, well, what about me?
01:00:01Do I look like a deputy or something like that?
01:00:04Huh?
01:00:04Why do you always think only of yourself?
01:00:07You know, I really think you're very selfish.
01:00:09Well, I was just saying that I wasn't born to do this either.
01:00:12Oh, this is surely the end.
01:00:15You did hear what he told us, didn't you, about what'll happen if we lose them.
01:00:19If these two geese get stolen, I'll be the laughingstock of the neighborhood and never be able to show my
01:00:25face around here.
01:00:27They'll blame it on me.
01:00:28Why don't they ever blame you?
01:00:31I'm the world's unluckiest dog.
01:00:34I don't understand how I ever got into this situation anyhow.
01:00:37Now, listen, I'm dog number one and you're dog number two.
01:00:41Do you understand?
01:00:42On the right is goose number one.
01:00:44Goose number two is on the left.
01:00:46All right, I'll watch number one and then you watch goose number two.
01:00:51Which one?
01:00:52Oh, what did I do to deserve this?
01:00:55I bet you don't even know who dog number two is, do you, Fido?
01:00:59Me?
01:01:00That's it, isn't it?
01:01:01Now you got it.
01:01:03Keep an eye on the one on the left.
01:01:05All right, don't move an inch.
01:01:07Who does he think he is bossing us around like that?
01:01:12What did I do to him?
01:01:14I don't know.
01:01:15He's just in a bad mood.
01:01:17Maybe we should take a little nap.
01:01:19And he'll be over it, I hope.
01:01:21By the time we wake up.
01:01:24All right?
01:01:25All right?
01:01:47No, no, he's here.
01:01:49Do you think I can't smell him, huh?
01:01:51Just keep an eye on your goose.
01:02:05Uh, I think I should tell you...
01:02:08That's not necessary.
01:02:09I know it's a bone.
01:02:12And now the floor is moving.
01:02:15Barney?
01:02:16I can't figure out why he's doing that.
01:02:22He moved.
01:02:23Now I can hear him upstairs.
01:02:25He's in the attic.
01:02:26I wonder what he's doing up there.
01:02:28Just concentrate and don't take your eye off of him.
01:02:31I wish I knew what that darn fox was up to.
01:02:39Uh-oh, something just ripped up there.
01:02:41Hey, didn't you hear that?
01:02:56Oh, great.
01:02:59The fox didn't get the geese.
01:03:00They're both still here.
01:03:01But what happened to Fido?
01:03:03Oh, no, Fido!
01:03:05I'm here, Barney.
01:03:07I thought you were the one who was missing.
01:03:13Well, I'm certainly not thrilled about it.
01:03:16But I think it's a good time to find another place to live at.
01:03:20Yeah, and I say we make it as soon as possible, all right?
01:03:23But I didn't quite understand what he meant by that rug thing, did you?
01:03:26There's no time for explanations.
01:03:27Just follow me.
01:03:36What a story.
01:03:39Tell me what happened.
01:03:40Fido and Barney took off on an early retirement.
01:03:46I guess that means they won't be able to collect their pension, does it?
01:03:53Well, I wonder where they're going to live now.
01:03:55Did you hear the one about the two dogs and the flower shower?
01:03:59It forgik.
01:03:59Oh, my God, it's so fast.
01:04:05But, can I see it based on the layer that they're becoming more and more?
01:04:11Oh, my God.
01:04:20Oh, my God.
01:04:34This should do it
01:04:36One
01:04:41Two
01:04:46Three
01:04:50You find anything, Fido?
01:04:52Just a snail
01:04:53I don't know anything about a cooking French style
01:04:57What did you find?
01:04:59A frog, that's all
01:05:00But he got away
01:05:01Hey, don't worry about it
01:05:03Well, let's go over by the lake
01:05:06Maybe we can find something there
01:05:08All right
01:05:09Hey, this is a lot of fun
01:05:13I think it's a steak
01:05:15But you know we're not supposed to eat steak, don't you?
01:05:18The rule is, steak is only for the master
01:05:22In an emergency, the rules are completely different
01:05:25And I hereby declare this an emergency
01:05:28Come on, let's go
01:05:32Now I've got that fox
01:05:38What?
01:05:39Barney, Fido, what are you doing here?
01:05:45Ah, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
01:05:53oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
01:05:53oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
01:05:54oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
01:05:54oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
01:05:58oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
01:06:20The snow fell and welcomed in the winter, but then the sun melted away the frost, and
01:06:28again the sounds of spring and the birth of a new season were in the air.
01:06:47Okay now, son, let's go. He sure is a frisky one.
01:06:52He reminds me of you the most. I hope he'll be safe here.
01:06:56Well, what did Karak say when he left us this place? It's safe, okay?
01:07:02And he also said there's plenty of room, and we really need that. Don't you think, Vic?
01:07:07No.
01:07:09No.
01:07:10No.
01:07:10No.
01:07:11No.
01:07:23No.
01:07:24No.
01:07:25No.
01:07:36No.
01:07:37No.
01:07:39No.
01:07:40No.
01:07:40No.
01:07:44No.
01:07:46No.
01:07:48No.
01:07:49No.
01:07:52No.
01:07:55The incredible Captain Schnauzer in an all-new adventure Captain of the Forest.
01:08:04Famed canine detective Captain Schnauzer has really bitten off more than he can chew this time
01:08:09as he doggedly pursues the most fiendish felon he has ever tracked.
01:08:13I must be going. We'll stay in constant touch through the radio.
01:08:17There's a despicable crime afoot,
