00:00Now, firefighters are continuing to battle several wildfires burning across the Southern Plains, including here in Texas.
00:05This fire near Avarillo called the Eight Ball Fire scorched 13,000 acres and is 55% contained.
00:12Anna, it's been a tough week there in the Southern Plains.
00:14It certainly has. Unfortunately, the increased fire danger is continuing throughout this evening.
00:20There is a break in sight, though.
00:22So, first of all, throughout the rest of today, this is what we're concerned about.
00:26Now, this area in the red, that's where the risk is the greatest, that high risk.
00:31Really, Amarillo kind of right on the line here. Same with Lubbock and Odessa.
00:35But some highly populated areas that are part of this increased threat.
00:40Now, the wind is one of the big issues here.
00:42That's one of the factors that really increases that fire danger.
00:45Watch what happens as we move through time here.
00:49The darker the purple, the higher the wind gusts.
00:52That's what you want to watch here.
00:54We're going to really get into the lighter purple.
00:56Tomorrow, we do see a little bit of an increase once again tomorrow morning.
01:00So, a little bit of an elevated fire threat once again.
01:03But then, things start moving in the right direction once again.
01:06It's the lighter purples that we're seeing.
01:08And conditions will improve at least for a bit.
01:13And we can see some increases once again.
01:15Now, we have some rain across the south tomorrow.
01:17But not where we need it the most.
01:20It's a little bit further to the east.
01:22So, places like New Orleans, you're going to see some showers, but not into Texas, not into New Mexico, not
01:27into these areas that really could use the rain.
01:30You can see a little bit throughout this evening, but not enough to make a big difference.
