00:00partial shutdown over DHS funding has the president personally spoken to the
00:05Democratic leaders in Congress can we expect to see them at the White House to
00:08try to make a deal on this not to my knowledge he hasn't had any direct
00:12conversation or correspondence with Democrat lawmakers recently it doesn't
00:16mean he's not willing to I'm just not aware of any conversations that have
00:19taken place I do know the White House and the president's representatives have
00:24been in direct conversations with both Democrats and Republicans but of course
00:28Democrats are the reason that the Department of Homeland Security is
00:31currently shut down they have chosen to act against the American people for
00:36political reasons and now we have FEMA workers the men and women of the United
00:40States Coast Guard men and women of TSA who keep our airports moving who will be
00:45working without paychecks for no good reason other than the Democrats wanting
00:50to pick a fight with Donald Trump and the president thinks that is irresponsible
00:53and despicable he wants the government to be open we've been been engaged in
00:57good-faith negotiations with the Democrats last night they sent over a
01:01counter-proposal that frankly was very unserious and we hope they get serious
01:05very soon because Americans are going to be impacted by this sure
01:11president Trump has talked about a forthcoming executive order on voter ID there
01:16more details you can provide about up for that and can you talk about any steps
01:20that you're taking to overcome court challenges that you've kind of faced in
01:23this area before I'm going well as the president said in that true social post he's
01:27discussing and exploring legal options for a potential executive order with
01:32respect to voter ID but this is something he's made very clear he wants
01:35Congress to get done the Save America Act is a common-sense piece of
01:40legislation that has now passed the House of Representatives to ensure that
01:44voter ID is a requirement in the United States of America this is a
01:48common-sense policy that nearly 90 percent of the country agrees with you need an
01:53ID to go and purchase alcohol you need an ID to go to the library and check out a
01:58book and so the president thinks you should have an ID to vote in our nation's
02:02elections and I know the vast majority of Americans agree with him on that and he
02:06wants Congress to move and move quickly to get it done
02:09on Cuba you know it's increasingly being described as a humanitarian crisis what
02:17is a successful outcome for the US that the US wants to see in Cuba is there
02:24anything less than regime change that would be considered success I think as
02:28secretary Rubio has articulated and the president himself we obviously want to
02:33see flourishing and prosperous democracies all over the world especially in our
02:39own hemisphere I'm not dictating any actions the United States may take to get
02:43there but I of course that's in the United States best interest to have Cuba be a
02:48truly free and prosperous democracy unfortunately right now that is not the
02:52case they are a regime that is falling their country is collapsing collapsing and
02:57that's why we believe it's in their best interest to make very dramatic
03:00changes very soon and we'll see what they decide to do
