00:51Oh, my God.
01:01No!
01:16Police?
01:21Is it the police, Dan?
01:24Who else would it be, boy?
01:35No!
01:35Now listen, I want us treating these people with respect, okay?
01:39No wicker man jokes, then?
01:41Robbie, that was really loud.
01:42I mean it. A murder in a wee place like this, the whole island's gonna be in shock.
02:07Sergeant Sean Mackay.
02:10DCI Burke.
02:11I've just spoke on the phone.
02:13You based here?
02:14Uh, mainland, but I look after half a dozen islands too. Quiet life, usually.
02:18Where's the body?
02:19About half a mile inland.
02:22Borrowed a couple of four by fours from the islanders, little eager to help.
02:26You secured the crime scene?
02:27Left Reverend Campbell there.
02:28The minister?
02:30I don't have much in the way of support staff.
02:32Look, I'm now a mug. I was eight years in Edinburgh.
02:36I'm sure nobody made any offence.
02:38Look, I've seen dead bodies.
02:40I've never seen anything like this.
02:42Come in.
02:51Indentation march in the stone by both wrists.
02:54Some kind of axe, maybe, or a meat cleaver.
02:57Jesus.
02:58I don't think he's got anything to do with this.
03:00Well, I can see how it looks.
03:01Standing stones, mutilations.
03:03Yeah.
03:04Some kind of ritual.
03:05What, just because we're a few miles offshore?
03:08Might only be a few miles, Jackie.
03:11It's a different world up here.
03:13Okay, so his hands have gone, but that could just be to conceal fingerprints.
03:17His mouth's been smashed in, so we can't check dental records.
03:22Yeah, no idea on him either.
03:23No mobile phone, nothing.
03:25If the point was to conceal his identity, then why not just ditch the body in the sea?
03:31Whoever did this wanted people to know about it.
03:36Sir, the Reverend Campbell here reckons he knows everyone on the island.
03:40And I can tell you he's not from here.
03:42I'd recognise him.
03:44Well, even in this state?
03:46Even then.
03:47I know my people.
03:49Thanks for your help, Reverend.
03:50I know Sergeant Mackay's grateful.
03:52Glad to do it, Chief Inspector.
03:54I wouldn't leave the poor soul out here alone.
03:58Stuart, check with the harbour master on the mainland.
04:01See if anybody's sailed out here in the last 24 hours.
04:03Yes, sir.
04:04Not everybody reports in.
04:06Especially if it's just a short trip.
04:08Turned out to be quite a long one for a friend up there, didn't it?
04:11You're the boss.
04:12Happy to see it.
04:14Who found the body?
04:16Wendy Nugent.
04:16She's out walking her dog first thing.
04:34Hello?
04:37Hi.
04:38Detective Inspector Ross.
04:40Sorry to disturb you, Miss Nugent.
04:44Wendy.
04:45It's okay.
04:48You, er, had a bit of a shock this morning.
04:52I feel fine now.
04:55I try to never be overwhelmed.
05:01Shall we go inside?
05:18So you didn't see anyone else in the union?
05:22Nobody, except the dead man.
05:24You knew he was dead?
05:27I didn't check for a pulse, but yes.
05:30I came back as quickly as I could and I called Sergeant Mackay.
05:33So why were you at the Stones this morning?
05:35It's beautiful that time of day.
05:37I've only been on the island a couple of hours,
05:39but I can think of more picturesque spots.
05:42I guess I like the Stones.
05:44So you're, er, you're into all this stuff?
05:48I don't subscribe to a particular belief system.
05:51I pick and choose what's right for me.
05:53And what's right about the Stones?
05:55I find them reassuring, peaceful.
05:58Not anymore, though, eh?
06:01They were here before me.
06:02They'll be here when I'm long gone.
06:04One death isn't going to change that, Inspector.
06:09This place getting to you, Robbie?
06:12Well, I can handle murder.
06:14But if this is some kind of ritualistic killing...
06:17And you really think that's what we're dealing with here?
06:19Well, it doesn't matter what I think, does it, Jackie?
06:22I mean, what matters is whether the killer believes in this superstitious, mystical shite.
06:30The harbour's this way?
06:34Robbie?
06:35Watch your pop.
06:37Yeah, well, I think I can do better than that.
06:48Jets.
06:49Excuse me, Jets.
06:54Hey.
06:55You pay on the board.
06:57Tom, is it?
06:59Tom Kim?
07:01Aye, Officer.
07:07That's just Reecey.
07:08He helps me out a bit.
07:09I'm DCI Burke.
07:11I know you guys have a living to earn, but I need you to stay put in the island for
07:13the time being.
07:14Glasgow?
07:15Are you questioning my jurisdiction?
07:17Just thinking of all your posh restaurants going without their lobster if I don't empty my pots.
07:21Oh, I'm sure they'll manage somehow.
07:24Come on, son.
07:24Out the boat.
07:31We don't know anything about the murder.
07:33You heard about it, though?
07:34Of course.
07:35These two live at Wendy Nugent's place.
07:37So you'd have been the first to know that?
07:39Pretty much.
07:41So how long are you going to keep us on shore here?
07:43Just as long as it takes to question everybody thoroughly.
07:46My officers will be in touch.
07:49Something to look forward to, eh?
07:51Go on, boy.
08:05Oh, good afternoon, officer.
08:08Is it that obvious?
08:09You don't look like the usual visitors we get here.
08:12I'm Shona, by the way.
08:14This is my place.
08:15Oh, DS Reid.
08:17So tell me, who are your usual visitors?
08:20Fishermen?
08:20Bird watchers?
08:22Campers?
08:23People.
08:24Well, they come for the stones.
08:26A lot of people.
08:28Enough for me to keep a vegetarian option on my menu.
08:30God love them.
08:32I think it's something out of a bunch of old rocks, but...
08:34Oh, God, what do you think?
08:36Oh, I'm sorry.
08:38I'm really not able to discuss the investigation.
08:40No, of course not. Sorry.
08:45Oh, business might be a bit slow today.
08:47My boss is trying to keep the island sealed off.
09:09Okay.
09:10Thanks for that.
09:12The hammer master says that no one's set off to her from the island in the last 24 hours.
09:15As far as he's aware.
09:17It's not exactly an enforced rule.
09:19Yeah, but I don't suppose the odd visitor or standing stone fan's going to bother about procedure, are they?
09:24Nah, Robbie. He found us.
09:27We'll catch you.
09:28I just wanted to get a sense of the whole island.
09:31Well, you'll have plenty of time for that, because you're staying here.
09:34You too, Jackie.
09:35Shoot me, I'll get the body back to the mainland.
09:37Is there somewhere we can put these two up?
09:40I've crashed at the pub a few times when the weather's turned.
09:43I'll give her a call.
09:44Oh, yeah, Shona. I met her. She seems nice.
09:46Okay, we'll fire back any information we pick up in Glasgow.
09:49In the meantime, keep talking to the islanders.
09:51We're going to love that.
09:53I'm sure you'll win them over, Robbie.
09:55Oh, that natural charm.
09:58See you later on.
10:04Chief Inspector.
10:07I wanted to say a few words.
10:08I've got no objections, Reverend.
10:11Could you maybe ask for a calm crossing?
10:13Of course.
10:15Okay, this is ready.
10:17I'm sorry you saw our home under such dreadful circumstances.
10:31Lord, accept your son as he passes from this life into the next.
10:36May he find the peace there he was denied in life.
10:39And may his soul enjoy eternal rest.
10:52I don't want to go on a boat again.
10:54Well, at least we got him back in one piece.
10:56More or less.
11:00Well, I hope he's not feeling neglected.
11:02Where's that old bugger that's up here to now?
11:04Carnoustie.
11:05Golf, I think.
11:07We all have our addictions, I suppose.
11:09I mean, I cannot live without these things.
11:11Keep the blood sugar up, but it's not the same as a proper lunch.
11:14Still, they're tasty.
11:16And it's better than a packet of crisps.
11:18Would you like one?
11:19I'll take a few seriously.
11:21Save me for myself.
11:22I'm sorry, who are you?
11:23I'm Ellis.
11:24I'm just filling in.
11:25Holiday cover.
11:26Did you not get the email?
11:28I don't always have time to check every email.
11:30Busy man.
11:31Got you.
11:32Our friend here.
11:32Preliminary findings.
11:34Do you want me to talk you through it?
11:35Headlines should do it.
11:36We can just refer back to this.
11:38Well, headline number one.
11:40Severe blunt force cranial trauma.
11:42Cause of death?
11:44Basically, yes.
11:45But headline number two.
11:46It wasn't quick.
11:48Blood loss indicates he was still alive when the mutilation took place.
11:51Heart was pumping when they took his hands.
11:53Was he conscious?
11:55I mean, is there a chance the mutilations were torture?
11:57I'd say no.
11:58He was probably unconscious due to the head injuries and certainly from shock when the first hand went.
12:03Anything else?
12:05Headline number three.
12:06From our sports desk.
12:07He's a local boy.
12:10Partick Thistle Football Club.
12:12And no disrespect, but I don't think they've got a huge fan base outside of Glasgow.
12:16Or inside.
12:18Alright.
12:19Come on, we'll eat your toxicology results.
12:22I know they can't pull up.
12:28Oh, thank you, Sharon.
12:30Thanks, that's lovely.
12:31Well, you're lucky.
12:32It's not a high season yet.
12:33And people pop in for a few hours.
12:35We most prefer camping anyway.
12:37Stuart.
12:38I need a room too.
12:39I'll give you this one.
12:40Arctic Thistle.
12:45Oh, my fingers and thumbs.
12:47Hey, hey.
12:48Sean.
12:49What a terrible, terrible thing.
12:51I know.
12:53I'm glad you're staying.
12:55Hey.
12:58Or would it be anywhere else?
13:09Thanks, Stuart.
13:09Talk to you later.
13:12Anything?
13:13It's looking more and more like he was from the mainland.
13:17Alright, gents.
13:19Look, the charm offensive seems to be working.
13:22Nice day.
13:25Yeah, it's not bad.
13:26Are you open?
13:27I could use a drink.
13:28Aye.
13:29Aye, aye, I think.
13:29You heard.
13:31There's been a dead body found.
13:34Rumour has it.
13:35What happened?
13:36I'm sure the locals will fill you in.
13:39Well, you're probably a bit more clued up, Inspector Ross.
13:43If you wanted to share any unique insights.
13:46I see you're taking a professional interest in this.
13:50Guilty.
13:52Gavin Keane.
13:54Proud member of Our Majesty's gutter press.
13:57And don't worry.
13:58I won't be getting in your way.
13:59No, I am.
14:00I'm looking to turn this into something substantial, you know.
14:02A feature.
14:03Well, good luck.
14:05Just hope we haven't taken all the rooms.
14:06Oh, I brought a tent.
14:07Be prepared, see?
14:09I'm an ex-boy scout.
14:12You, er...
14:13You got here quick.
14:14You've got underpaid colleagues, Inspector.
14:17There was no problem getting across.
14:21So much for the island being sealed off.
14:31Find any rituals to match our murder?
14:34It's hard to know what's fact and what's folklore.
14:36But there are stories of human sacrifice going back centuries.
14:39Anything specific?
14:40Blood loss could be significant.
14:42Letting it soak into the earth was seen as an act of purification.
14:45Nothing involving hands or facial disfigurement?
14:47There's dismemberment, decapitation.
14:49But I'd say if this was someone's idea of a ritual killing.
14:52They're making it up as they go along.
14:54Let the others know what you've got.
15:03From Shona.
15:04Keep your strength up.
15:05Oh, brilliant.
15:06Thanks, Sean.
15:07This is cheese and a homemade pickle.
15:09Bacon and brie, banana.
15:11Oh, great.
15:11Robbie.
15:13Do you recognise this one?
15:18Yeah.
15:19It's at Wendy Nugent's place.
15:22Celtic druid symbol commonly associated with sacrifice.
15:28Come on.
15:29Sure, I'll get you the keys.
15:34Do you think Wendy Nugent has the physical capabilities to drag a body up to some standing stones?
15:39She might have had help.
15:41The rumour has it the two guys that live with their cairns and reese.
15:45Well, apparently the washing up isn't the only thing we've got a rota for.
15:56Police.
15:57Here?
16:00Will you relax, boy?
16:02He's right.
16:04You mustn't worry.
16:05I'm not worried.
16:07And I'm not a boy.
16:10You should just leave us a bit of you mainland bastards.
16:14Wendy.
16:15Come on.
16:15Wight your feet.
16:20Mr. Cairns.
16:23Uh, D.I. Ross, this is D.S. Reid.
16:25I believe you spoke to our boss.
16:26Yeah, we had that privilege.
16:28Thought that was the end of it.
16:30Some other factors have come to light.
16:32Yeah, we've been having a look at some pagan symbols.
16:35And we came across this one.
16:37It's connected to ritualistic human sacrifice.
16:41That might be the original meaning, but now these symbols, they show up all over the place.
16:46They're part of the mainstream.
16:48Well, you're not though, are you?
16:49I mean, you three lead an unusual lifestyle.
16:53We don't expect you to understand.
16:56What's to understand?
16:58Well, it's quite simple, Inspector.
17:00Sometimes Tam shares my bed, sometimes reese, sometimes neither and never both.
17:05We haven't done anything wrong.
17:08Well, maybe not.
17:09We're investigating what appears to be a ritualistic murder here.
17:13And since you three have got your own little cult going...
17:16We haven't done anything wrong.
17:17Yeah.
17:18That's what you keep saying.
17:24It seems our boy might have been a bit more well-travelled than we thought.
17:27There's a bite in his ankle.
17:29Recent.
17:30Not more than a week or two old.
17:32A bite?
17:33Hmm.
17:34Deep too.
17:35No, just a nibble.
17:36Who could have done something like that?
17:37A spider.
17:39Rare.
17:41Exotic.
17:41Tropical.
17:42Can you narrow it down a bit?
17:44Country of origin, I mean.
17:46Well, it's not something I've seen before, as you can imagine, but I've done my best.
17:50South America.
17:51Probably Brazil, but I couldn't swear to it.
17:54Stuart, check it out.
17:55I can tell you one thing for certain.
17:56Judging by the tissue damage under the bite, the poison was nasty.
18:00As in, potentially lethal nasty.
18:03So whoever cleaned the wound saved his life.
18:06Not for long.
18:07Hm.
18:14Do you mind if I say something, Robbie?
18:17Too serious if you need to ask.
18:19I don't think you're acting in a professional manner.
18:22What?
18:26I think you came to this island expecting weird cult stuff.
18:29And that's all you're seeing.
18:31Uh-huh.
18:32And what do you call a mutilated corpse on top of a standing stone?
18:36A victim.
18:37Until we know otherwise.
18:39What about the happy threesome back there?
18:41That doesn't make them killers.
18:42It makes them weird.
18:44Yeah, but we can't let that cloud our judgement, Robbie.
18:48Well, Jackie, you can see them all as lovable eccentrics if you like.
18:52There's something about this place that gives me the creeps.
18:58Nothing like this found in Europe.
19:00Thank God.
19:01They can be imported by licensed collectors.
19:03But no-one in the Glasgow area has bought anything like this in the last year or two at least.
19:07Well, a boy got bitten somewhere.
19:09Could have happened abroad.
19:11Didn't have much of a tan.
19:13Look into any South American ship that birthed in the Clyde over the last month.
19:16Could be he was handling cargo, came across a wee stowaway.
19:19Sir.
19:20Monsieur.
19:20Sure.
19:20Yes, sir.
19:21Put something else up on the screen for God's sake, will you?
19:25I'm out there on the boat, risking...
19:27It's a murder investigation.
19:27...a life and all the way that I was enjoying.
19:30Yeah, tonight at least.
19:32Have you seen the price?
19:33I don't know.
19:34But when I know it, you'll know.
19:37Nearly.
19:38Nearly.
19:43Look, I've got to go, love.
19:44Yeah, bye.
19:45Bye.
19:46Bye.
19:46Get you a drink?
19:47Yeah, that'd be nice.
19:50I think my wife will be used to the hours by now, eh?
19:52Well, at least you know she misses you.
19:54Yeah.
19:55Takings will be up tonight, Shona.
19:57You know what these journalists are like.
19:59Oh, I thought you said you were on holiday.
20:01Oh, the news never rests, Shona.
20:05Same again.
20:06Aye, let me get that, pal.
20:07No, easy enough.
20:09I mean it, Sam.
20:11Yes, ma'am.
20:19What is the deal with him?
20:23Look, I'm gonna tell you.
20:26A phobia is an irrational fear.
20:29There's nothing irrational but being fear of something that can kill you.
20:31So you can cope when you find one in your bath?
20:33I cope fine.
20:34Just out the wee bastard where I rolled up newspaper and flush it down the plug hole.
20:40I got nothing from customs.
20:42But there was a story online.
20:44A greengrocer opening a box of bananas.
20:47Huge spider inside.
20:49Maybe that's what I'm talking about.
20:51Except there was nothing from the hospitals about a spider bite.
20:53Which means that it wasn't reported.
20:55Now, if something like that happens at your work, you're gonna be suing for compensation.
20:59Unless your work's not legit.
21:00So what do people bring in from foreign parts that they don't want the authorities to know about?
21:05Do you want me to go into the drug squad?
21:06Nobody ever get killed over a box of bananas, son.
21:28Don't go yet.
21:29Don't go yet.
21:33You're good.
21:34I'm sleeping.
21:35Shh, shh, shh.
21:41One more kiss.
22:05One more kiss.
22:32Listen, Sean, under normal circumstances, I'd mind my own business, but we are in the
22:39middle of a murder investigation.
22:42And?
22:43And I know there's something going on between you and Shona.
22:48Look, she's not just my bit on the side.
22:50I'm going to get divorced and move over here.
22:53Good.
22:54I'm glad to hear it.
22:56But until this case is sorted, we're going to have to treat her as a potential suspect.
23:00Now listen, there's no way she's involved.
23:03Let's hope not.
23:05Because you've just stayed your career on it.
23:09Come on, then, gents.
23:12Ooh, breakfast looks good.
23:14It's wonderful.
23:16Jackie, thought you were having a long life.
23:19No, I've been up for ages.
23:22Checking out our three amigos.
23:26Now, I know this makes me a bad hostess, but I'm going to have to leave you to your own
23:30devices.
23:31Charge.
23:33Tell me this, Shona.
23:34A place like this does most of the community turn out.
23:37More or less.
23:40Can you touch the door, Inspector?
23:42No.
23:43But it might be a good place to check out Wendy Nugent's criminal record.
23:50Evil has visited our home, my brothers and sisters.
23:54Our Eden has been tainted, corrupted, but we must stay resolute.
24:04Only together will we have the strength to put these dark hours behind us and reclaim our
24:11our earthly paradise.
24:21Please, take a seat.
24:23All are welcome.
24:25Uh, no, it's okay.
24:26We're fine.
24:27Standing.
24:28Sorry, we don't mean to interrupt.
24:31As I was saying, brothers and sisters, our purity, our innocence, they can be restored.
24:41Life can and will be good again.
24:46I ask you to stand together.
24:49Literally and metaphorically, I ask you to join me in prayer and in the shared belief that
24:55all will be well.
25:01Our father.
25:04Correct.
25:05Okay, great.
25:09DS Duggan.
25:10DCI Buck.
25:12Thanks for coming up.
25:13You're all right, mister.
25:14I didn't have much choice.
25:15Well, at least we know where we stand, eh?
25:19I don't mean to be.
25:20We just let the big case go tits up, sir.
25:23We'll try not to keep you any longer than we have to.
25:29White male.
25:30Late twenties.
25:31Probably from Glasgow.
25:33Ring any bells?
25:34Could be any foot soldier in the country.
25:36You've run DNA.
25:38Of course.
25:39No match.
25:40All the big boys try and get people without records now.
25:43You must have them under surveillance.
25:44So nobody got them missing.
25:46At street level, you're talking hundreds of guys.
25:49Well, all we know about this one is that he was a Partick Thistle supporter.
25:52At least his suffering's over.
25:54And he might have a link to South America.
25:58Are you taking the piss?
26:07Wendy.
26:08Did you find God in the jail?
26:11It was six months in an open prison.
26:14I had a few substance abuse problems.
26:16But you're clean now.
26:17No more chemicals allowed.
26:19No more toxins of any kind.
26:22Is that why you came to the island?
26:23To be closer to nature?
26:25Away from temptation?
26:27It's a place of healing.
26:29Our Wendy's a very spiritual person.
26:32And what about your mate, Tan?
26:35Is he not the religious type then?
26:36We don't know where he is.
26:41He didn't come home last night.
26:43Not at all.
26:44He'll turn up.
26:46Wouldn't be the first time Tam Cairns slept off a drinking session.
26:51Should you not be a bit more concerned that he's gone missing the night after a gruesome murder?
26:56I think you're being alarmist, Inspector Ross.
27:00Well, we'll see.
27:01But with Everend.
27:12I wish we could get him kicked off the island.
27:20There's some sort of connection out of Sao Paulo.
27:22Every dealer in Glasgow is supplied by the same courier.
27:26Who?
27:26That we don't know.
27:28We thought we had the bastard.
27:30We're going to take him when he dropped off some powder at Danny Cunningham's place on the south side,
27:34but he just never showed.
27:35Tipped off.
27:36We were watertight on this one, Chief Inspector.
27:40We get him, he rolls over, we nail everyone he supplies.
27:43Could the guy in this lab be your courier?
27:46I hate to judge a corpse by its cover, but I'd say no.
27:50That man's smart, savvy, know some wee ned.
27:54And I still don't know how you'd tie a body on that wee island to South American cocaine.
28:00Sure, zoom out on that thing, would you?
28:04Shipping lanes.
28:05The freighters don't have to dock.
28:07You just needed someone on a wee boat to pick up the drugs.
28:10And there's no customs to face when you get back to the mainland.
28:13Just looks as if you've been out on the island for the day.
28:15You'd need to know the waters to find a prearranged spot.
28:24Could Cairns have slept here last night?
28:27He has before.
28:29Wendy, it's over 12 hours since you saw him last.
28:32Well, time to sleep off the effects of a bottle.
28:35I'm not his mother, you know.
28:36He's not my responsibility.
28:39Listen, my boss thinks he's mixed up in some very nasty business.
28:42He's not?
28:44We're some very nasty people.
28:46Tom can take care of himself.
28:48Okay, so what is it?
28:50He's not mixed up in anything dodgy, or he is,
28:52but that's okay, because time can look after himself.
28:56Well, he's...
28:59It's...
29:01I don't know.
29:03Okay, folks, if he does show up,
29:06you get in touch.
29:08He'll be back.
29:11Bad penny or time?
29:40Anything?
29:42No, bugger all.
29:44Due respect to your gaffer, but a drug smuggling here.
29:48So you don't think Tam has the know-how to meet a freighter in the shipping lane?
29:51He just wouldn't.
29:52These people aren't like that.
29:54Well, cocaine is coming in from Brazil on ships that pass by close enough to be met,
29:58and our victim has a bite from something tropical on his leg.
30:01A bite?
30:03The spider bite.
30:05Sean, you should try reading all the reports.
30:07You're not just a glorified driver, you're part of this investigation.
30:12Yeah, yeah, definitely.
30:37Look, Mr Butt, I don't know if this is all going to tie together.
30:40Even if your dead guy was working with my courier.
30:43Maybe they fell out over Partick Thistle.
30:45If the courier had killed him, you'd never have found a body.
30:47He's a pro.
30:48Even pros have off days.
30:50We can, but hope.
30:52I'll see what I can dig up.
30:53Appreciate it.
30:56Partick Thistle.
30:59What about them?
31:01The Jags.
31:02The Jags.
31:03I'll be back.
31:09Jonah.
31:11I thought you weren't coming.
31:13What's going on here?
31:14I don't know what you're talking about.
31:15Yes, you do.
31:16You got me to bring antiseptic and surgical dressings over a week back.
31:19Who were they for?
31:20I told you, one of the fishermen had an infection, so...
31:22Don't lie to me.
31:25It was for a bite, wasn't it?
31:26A spider bite.
31:29I...
31:29I can't, I'm sorry.
31:30Hey.
31:31Shona.
31:32Tam Cairns is missing.
31:34You have to tell me everything.
31:36This is a murder investigation.
31:37Please, Sean, I can't.
31:40I have to go home.
31:53What are you doing?
31:55Oh.
32:03Yes?
32:05You know, I used this on your pal, the big man.
32:08Took him a long time to talk.
32:10Let's hope, for your sake, that we can start to communicate a lot faster.
32:30Look, I'm not having you on.
32:34Something's not right here.
32:37I was just talking with her on the beach.
32:39So what were you talking about?
32:40What?
32:41Nothing.
32:42Look, she's missing, for God's sake.
32:45Listen, Sean.
32:46It's less than an hour since you last saw her, and there's no sign of any struggle.
32:50Her phone's off.
32:51Okay, so...
32:52Where might she be?
32:54Of her own free will, I mean.
32:57She helps out at the church, cleaning.
33:00We'll go there.
33:01Fine. Good. Let's just do something.
33:03When was this taken?
33:05A couple of years back.
33:06She worked in a hospital on the mainland before she inherited this place.
33:09She's a qualified nurse.
33:11What does that matter?
33:12It matters if she was the one that cleaned the spider bite.
33:15Did she treat the dead man, Sean?
33:17I don't know.
33:19Look, we don't have time for this. Please.
33:21We've got plenty of time.
33:26Look, I don't know about the spider bite for sure.
33:29It's possible.
33:32She wouldn't tell me.
33:34Right, we still go to the church.
33:36If she's there, at least we can question her.
33:42This was recorded 12 weeks ago.
33:46Listen.
33:47Here's Jack.
33:49Hi. Stick with Jack.
33:51Directional microphone. Never the best.
33:53Who's talking?
33:54You set up yet?
33:56Two seconds.
34:03That's Danny Cunningham.
34:05One of the biggest dealers in the city.
34:07So who's the guy in the hood?
34:08We don't know.
34:10We had Cunningham under surveillance, but we thought he was trying to off-road some stolen cars.
34:14Jags.
34:15But that's what part of this will get called.
34:17Could be our dead guy's nickname.
34:19Ties into Cunningham.
34:20So that guy in the hoodie...
34:22Is not our victim.
34:24No.
34:25But it's probably your victim's boss.
34:28Sure. Can you bring that up?
34:32Any clearer pictures of the hooded guy?
34:34We didn't spend time enhancing the image.
34:36We thought it was stolen cars, no use to us.
34:39You do end with it?
34:40There's a couple of programs I could try.
34:42Don't try. Just get it done.
34:46I'm afraid I've not seen her since the service this morning.
34:51Reverend, we found out that Shona's a nurse.
34:54Has she mentioned to you lately about treating anyone from the mainland?
34:58Shona is a kind, giving person.
35:01It wouldn't surprise me to hear she'd offered her help.
35:03Oh, for God's sake, that doesn't answer the question.
35:05Listen, did Shona treat a man for a spider bite?
35:09Not to my knowledge.
35:11Why is that such an issue?
35:12Because our victim had a spider bite and Shona seems to have joined Cairns on our list of missing persons.
35:20I see.
35:23Why does none of this seem to bother you, Reverend?
35:26I have faith that all will be well, Detective Sergeant.
35:35Any luck?
35:36Better.
35:37But not perfect.
35:38You can definitely see the guy's face now.
35:40Did you give one to Duggan?
35:41Yeah, he's circulating it now.
35:43Alright, email one to Robbie too.
35:44See if this guy's ever been spotting the island.
35:46Don't we think Jags was the one who went out there?
35:48Aye.
35:49Still Jags is dead.
35:50So maybe his boss will have to get his own hands a wee bit dirty now.
35:53Sir.
35:59All I'm saying is, it's been too long.
36:02Anything could have happened to Shona.
36:03She could be dead.
36:04Is that an official statement?
36:06We're busy, Mr Keene.
36:07You're busy doing nothing as far as I can see.
36:09I mean, we've got one victim, two people missing.
36:12Are we talking a serial killer?
36:14Try not to get too excited at the prospect.
36:18Shona's a good looking woman.
36:19That would sell a few papers.
36:24You're scum, you know that?
36:25Living off other folks peeing like a parasite.
36:27I don't know what that said to me and worse.
36:32Shona sends her love, by the way.
36:36That's nice, isn't it?
36:37She really didn't want me to have it.
36:38That must mean a lot to her.
36:40Where is she?
36:43What do you want?
36:44Only what is rightfully mine.
36:50If you ever want to see her alive again,
36:53keep those two away from me.
36:56How am I supposed to do that?
36:57I wonder if Sergeant Mackay's wife knows how devoted he is to Shona.
37:01Well, she's going to find out soon enough.
37:03He's getting a divorce.
37:05How do you know that?
37:07Told me at breakfast.
37:09And you didn't think to tell me?
37:13Oh no, of course not.
37:16Boys sticking together.
37:18Even if it gets in the way of an investigation, Robbie.
37:31Come here, boy.
37:32Come on.
37:33Come here, boy.
37:35Come on.
37:38Come here.
37:39Come on.
37:40Come a way back.
37:40Come on.
37:43This is Thomas.
37:47When?
38:11If there's a drugs courier behind all of this
38:14I doubt it's anyone we've come across so far
38:16Well we'll soon know Stuart's sending the photo through any minute
38:20Anything Sean?
38:22Nothing
38:24Dear Shreed
38:27It was...Wendy?
38:30Caden's...
38:31No it's okay, it's okay
38:34Right I want you to tell me exactly where you are
38:44I've never done anything bad
38:47Can you think of anyone that might want to harm him?
38:49No
38:50Is she answering for you, Rhys?
38:52Oh leave him alone, he's upset
38:54Yeah of course he's upset
38:56His mate's lying and they're dead
38:59You know he was tortured, Rhys
39:01And the same thing could be happening to Shona
39:03Unless we find her
39:05Now do you want that on your conscience?
39:11Oh dear
39:14The action taken was just and justified
39:18Doesn't sound like your words, Wendy
39:20Who's been brainwashing you?
39:22Nobody
39:23I've seen what drugs can do to you first hand
39:25What they did to me
39:26We couldn't let that poison taint our island
39:29Who's we?
39:32Tam
39:32Shona, all of us
39:34So why not call the police?
39:36Oh please
39:37They've had decades to stop drugs getting into the country and got nowhere
39:40So you turned vigilante?
39:43Execute the smuggler?
39:45We didn't know that was going to happen
39:48You killed that man
39:49No
39:50So who did?
39:52Who killed the man at the stones?
39:54Reverend Campbell
39:59It's gone too far
40:00They need to know
40:01Come on
40:02I'm not sure I'll cut to the church
40:12This isn't the way
40:15What?
40:16The church is over there
40:17I know what I'm doing
40:18Yeah but that's what worries me
40:21Stop the car, Sergeant McKay
40:23Sean
40:25For God's sake man, pull over
40:31What the hell are you doing, Sean?
40:33He said he was going to kill Shona
40:35Who? Who's got her?
40:37That reporter guy, Keane
40:38Where?
40:39What he did to Cairns
40:41Oh God
40:43What the hell say man
40:44You've already lost your job
40:45Do you want to lose Shona as well?
40:47No
40:48Right
40:49Then tell us where she is
40:52The church
40:54He's got her in the church
41:05I'm getting tired of waiting
41:13I have what you came for
41:15I don't see it
41:22And you're a man of God
41:28Show me
41:41Why did you keep it?
41:43You killed my courier
41:44You could have chucked that in the sea
41:47I killed your courier
41:49And I laid him out
41:51To get you here
41:54I want a share
42:00What are you doing?
42:01You stay in here
42:02But I love her Robbie
42:04Yeah I know
42:05But maybe enough to get her killed
42:07Stay
42:09Ah
42:12You think you're a player
42:13Is that it?
42:15The cities are cesspits
42:17Do as you wish there
42:19But people here
42:20My people
42:21Need money
42:22If you want to keep using the island
42:24We want a share
42:26And reverend
42:29Who's to stop me
42:30Killing her
42:33And then killing you
42:36And keeping doing as I wish
42:37Too many people know
42:40You can't kill us all
42:41Oh I don't know
42:44I like a challenge
42:45He's right keen
42:48Or whatever your name is
42:49Does it matter?
42:51No not really
42:52Because it's over
42:54No
42:57You are going to let me walk out that door with my friend
43:01And then what?
43:03This is an island
43:04And we've alerted the coast guard
43:05Yeah they've got nobody else to run
43:08Sure enough
43:10Sure enough
43:12Let her go
43:13Please just let her go
43:15You're going to take her place
43:17Yeah
43:17So maybe I'll just shoot you
43:20Or her
43:21Or you
43:22Or any, me, me, me, me, me
43:25It's okay he won't shoot
43:26Won't I?
43:27You're not a psycho
43:28You're a pro, right?
43:30Maybe
43:31And pros don't just gun down amateurs
43:33When they've got nothing to gain
43:35So what do you suggest?
43:37You make a deal
43:40You have connections, yeah?
43:42Dealers
43:43Suppliers
43:45Grants
43:45Grants
43:46Grants them up?
43:48No
43:52Pros don't do that either
43:57KENDALE!
44:11KENDALE!
44:14May I say a few words for the dead?
44:18You say whatever the hell you like
44:25Okay, dump your bags, folks
44:27First round's on me
44:29What, we'll get to the pub?
44:30The case is closed
44:32Yeah, I know
44:32It's hardly a great result though, is it?
44:35There's one killer dead
44:36Another killer gone to jail
44:37That'll do me
44:38Yeah, I know boss
44:40But, um
44:41Listen, I just need to make a call about Sergeant Mackay
44:44Why?
44:45Robert's going to try and use his natural charm on the PSU
44:48See if he can get him his job back
44:49Well, there won't be much chance of that then
44:51Yeah, but I'm going to give it a try, Stuart
44:54All right, Robbie, you do what you have to do
44:56Okay
44:56Don't leave it too long though
44:58Second round's on you
44:59Thank you
