00:00Uses of artificial intelligence are soaring across the globe, and India is no exception.
00:06Businesses and individuals have rushed to AI to boost efficiency.
00:10Educator Swetong Punde teaches at a civil services coaching centre, helping young Indians
00:16take the incredibly competitive test for a civil service job.
00:19Due to the huge number of students needing coaching, AI helps to personalise questions
00:24and lessons as necessary.
00:26So if we just define a particular situation, AI gives us a good example, which is more
00:33relatable, makes it easy for us to explain the things and also for the students to comprehend
00:39the things.
00:40Aniruth Singh, a master's student at Delhi University, has found AI very helpful to deal with what
00:45used to be painstaking work.
00:47I think AI is just reducing the tedious work that students generally had to do, like look
00:54at various studies and then come to, for a single line or for a single crux of that article,
01:02we had to read the whole article.
01:04Last year Microsoft announced a $17.5 billion investment over four years to expand AI infrastructure
01:11in India, following Google's $15 billion investment over five years, including plans for its first
01:18AI hub in the country.
01:20While these investments create more opportunity, the country is still behind in developing its
01:25own large-scale AI model, like those built by companies such as OpenAI or DeepSeek.
01:31This is due to challenges including limited access to advanced semiconductor chips, data centres
01:37and hundreds of local languages to learn.
