00:00In France, authorities say they arrested a total of 11 suspects over the killing last week of a far-right
00:06activist.
00:07Quentin Derog, aged 23, died after sustaining a severe brain injury when he was attacked on the sidelines of a
00:14far-right protest.
00:15The far-right group were protesting against a left-wing politician speaking at a university in the city of Lyon.
00:22Let's get you the latest on this.
00:24It's France 24's Olivier Bizot standing by at the National Assembly, where talks are underway, centred on this issue today.
00:31Olivier, what are you hearing? What are we expecting to come out from today's question time?
00:40Hi, Rochelle. While the atmosphere here is incredibly intense and heavy, as you can imagine, the questions to government have
00:46now begun.
00:48There will be some debates over public policy, but they will mostly be centred today on the death of the
00:5423-year-old Quentin Derog, who was killed last week.
00:57And they will also be centred around the legitimacy of the far-left France unbowed party.
01:02Now, the scenes are chaotic. The party's headquarters were evacuated this morning after bomb threats.
01:08And just before the session began, an MP from the party, Éric Coquerel, told journalists that he obviously condemns these
01:16threats.
01:16And he also said that he and lots of other members of his party have been receiving many death threats.
01:22He said that his party is being unfairly targeted in a political trial that has been orchestrated by the government
01:31and the far-right.
01:33Now, this comes after Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu called on the France unbowed party to clean its ranks.
01:39Yesterday, these calls were reiterated by a government spokeswoman this morning, who also called on the party to formally exclude
01:47MP Raphaël Arnault.
01:49Now, Arnault is a sitting member of Parliament whose assistant is one of the 11 people who are being interrogated
01:56for murder.
01:57And the president of the National Assembly today banned Arnault from entering the building in a very rare move.
02:03Now, this is a political earthquake. We're no longer just talking about a very violent and deadly attack in Lyon.
02:10The crisis has entered these very corridors of political power here in Paris.
02:15And we'll have to see throughout the afternoon if Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu is able to maintain order.
