00:01The Iranian delegation were greeted with insults from protesters following the
00:06second round of talks with the US in Geneva. But that didn't stop the talks
00:11from moving forward. According to the Iranian foreign minister, they were even
00:16more productive than the previous ones in Oman.
00:22There is not yet a true roadmap but we now have a clearer picture of what
00:26needs to be done and what steps should follow. Of course, both sides still hold
00:32positions that will take time to narrow. But at least we now have a set of guiding
00:37principles and a clearer path on which to move forward.
00:44A third round of talks has already been considered. For Tehran, the goal is for the US to
00:49lift its sanctions that continue to stifle Iran's battered economy. To achieve that,
00:54the government could make concessions on its nuclear program. For its part,
00:59Washington hopes to restrict Iran's ballistic missile arsenal.
01:02There are a lot of ways in which they endanger America's national security but
01:05the most important way they could is if they acquired a nuclear weapon and that
01:10is the red line the President of the United States has consistently set.
01:13Tehran has repeatedly said its missiles program is off the negotiating table.
01:17While the talks seem to be fruitful, the risk of conflict between the US and Iran looms in
01:23the background as their heads of state continue to trade threats. Since Monday,
01:27Tehran has been conducting military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz which it
01:32has even decided to partially close. Meanwhile, Washington has continued to
01:36bolster its military presence in the region.
01:38throw it out of the region.
01:39Coming in.
01:39.
