00:00On the occasion of the 2026 Carnival, Caracas celebrates the last day of the celebrations.
00:04Our correspondent, Brad Meir, has the details.
00:08Carnival Tuesday, Fat Tuesday as it's known in a lot of places around the world that celebrate
00:14Carnival, here in the city of Caracas, which means it's the last day. Tomorrow's Ash Wednesday,
00:20that marks the official end of Carnival. And it's been a pretty subdued Carnival here,
00:25but people are still out having a lot of fun on the streets, especially the children.
00:30I talked to a couple of people during the last few days who told me that in their neighborhoods
00:35they weren't going to have their regular parties because they're still so angry about the U.S.
00:40violation of Venezuela's sovereignty on January 3rd when they murdered 100 people in bombing raids
00:46and kidnapped the elected president, Nicolas Maduro, and First Lady Celia Flores.
00:51But this hasn't stopped the children from having fun. There's still kids everywhere.
00:55They're engaging in the traditional squirt gun fights, spraying aerosol foam at each other,
01:02kids wearing costumes, adults wearing costumes too, and people just trying to make the best
01:08of a situation in a city that's still in shock due to the aggression that happened on January 3rd.
01:15But life goes on and another Carnival comes to an end here in Venezuela.
