00:00Also, carnival celebrations kicked off as well in Venezuela as citizens take to the streets to showcase the national cultural
00:07richness.
00:09And now from Caracas, our correspondent Brian Mir is there. Hello Brian, what can you share with us at this
00:13hour? How would you describe the feeling of the people in the midst of these celebrations?
00:18Good afternoon Alejandra from a beautiful sunny day in the center of Caracas. It's Carnival Saturday and whereas Caracas might
00:26not have some of the huge street parades that some places like Trinidad and Brazil and Colombia might have, it's
00:33still a very important holiday here and there's stages set up around the city and all the different parks.
00:39There's going to be a lot of events tonight and I'm just going to walk you through what's happening here.
00:45This is an event going on for kids, you know, with a commodification of Carnival and a lot of the
00:50big Carnival tourist destinations.
00:53Sometimes kids seem to get left out of the equation, which is why the local government set up all these
00:59activities like jumping trampolines and clowns, circus performers, dancers.
01:08And other things set up, cotton candy and whatnot, so that kids and their families feel like they aren't left
01:17out during Carnival.
01:19This afternoon, the activities are going to go on in all of the parks until around 6pm and tonight there's
01:25stages in other parts of the city that are going to have live music.
01:28There are going to be Carnival balls going on and it's just the first day, official day of Carnival really,
01:34Saturday of Carnival.
01:35And as we all know, it's a holiday that started with the Catholic Church that ends officially on the first
01:43day of Lent, which is Ash Wednesday, next Wednesday.
01:47For now, so for now, this is it from Caracas.
01:51And as we know, Carnival is going on all around Latin America and Europe right now.
01:55So for you who are watching, have a good Carnival Saturday.
02:00Thank you, Brian, very much for your insights, for showing us the feeling of the people at this moment during
02:07these celebrations.
02:08For sure, we will be in contact with you throughout this celebration for all that it lasts here in Caracas.
02:14Bye bye.
02:14I'll be okay.
