00:30...that really depicts our vision, why we're building, what we are building, so if we can put the music louder.
00:39What is this?
00:41Duh, just a sad monkey.
00:43It's an ape, not sad, bored.
00:45Okay, whatever.
00:46Whatever? Watch out!
00:48Okay, a bit too much.
00:51Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
00:53A portal? I dig it!
00:56Whoa!
00:56Whoa!
00:58Oh, my God.
00:59Wow!
01:03Whoo!
01:05Whoo!
01:05Ouch!
01:06Good shit, nephew.
01:07No way!
01:09Paris Hilton!
01:11Oh, they let children in here!
01:14Yeah, it's a birthday, can't you see?
01:16Makes total sense!
01:18You don't get it, do ya?
01:19Who cares? Let's f***ing go!
01:25Yes, let's go in the metaverse.
01:27We want to make it a place where we have fun, where we make new friends, when we discover a
01:31new form of entertainment that is going beyond gaming.
01:34And so, maybe, let's start by defining a little bit what is the metaverse and sharing with you that now
01:42more than half of the world population is a digital native, a Gen Z.
01:48That means that they are born with technology, with smartphones, with tablets, that, like, they have a different way to
01:54consume content.
01:55No, they are no longer reading books or newspapers.
01:59They are no longer watching TV.
02:00They are already spending more than 12 hours a week in virtual world, interacting, learning, playing, socializing.
02:08And they have different expectations, like, not only they want to play and consume content, but they want to be
02:15creators.
02:1675% of them actually wants to engage, not passively in front of the content that they like, not just
02:23streaming the games they play.
02:24Actually, they want to create their own level, their own characters to keep bringing more life and engage further with
02:33their favorite games and with others.
02:34And so, thanks to a new technology, blockchain and NFTs, that exist now for several years,
02:41all the time that they are spending, all the value they are contributing by creating on those platforms,
02:47is now stored on the blockchain and can be exchanged among themselves.
02:52So, NFTs, digital assets on the blockchain, can be art, can be profile picture, can be virtual land, avatars, or
02:59game items.
03:00And they are already buying, spending, and trading those.
03:04That represents more than $40 billion of revenue since 2022, which is already just the beginning.
03:12And what is the mission of Sandbox in this field?
03:16Like, we have started Sandbox in 2011. Originally, it was just a mobile game.
03:21Our mission from the beginning has always been to empower anyone to become a creator.
03:27So, we want any player to become a creator, to develop new form of entertainment, new form of experiences,
03:33and to be able to truly own them and monetize them thanks to that technology.
03:38I want to clarify a little bit. Like, we are not the metaverse.
03:42We are just building a small part of it, contributing.
03:44The metaverse, it is that concept where you, as a user, with your avatar,
03:50you will be able to access a myriad of virtual worlds and platforms.
03:54There will be thousands, hopefully millions of them.
03:58But unlike what we've seen before, like, you will own your avatar,
04:01you will own all your digital assets and content,
04:04and you can move from one world to another in full, like, fully seamlessly,
04:09without having to ask permission to a developer.
04:11And that's really the new thing. However, the metaverse might be quite empty at the beginning,
04:17so we have to provide, like, the creation tools.
04:19It will be massively user-generated content-oriented.
04:23I think 99% of the content UGC will be present in the metaverse.
04:28That's why we provide tools that are very simple, very accessible for content creation,
04:32almost like digital Lego.
04:34We also want to bring and bridge culture with your favorite brands from the physical world,
04:39not just a traditional brand from the Western culture, but like global brands from all other regions.
04:45And we are developing a new format of entertainment that is not just game,
04:50but really a hybrid between socialization, exploration, and more,
04:54where users can own content, build, play alone or together, socialize,
04:58and actually even earn from the time they spend and the content they contribute.
05:03All of that is leading to the development of a new digital economy,
05:06where assets, services are contributing to new jobs, including, like, decentralized finance,
05:14and even leading to a world that is owned and governed by the players through a DAO.
05:22We have over 400 brands in sandbox.
05:25So this has been expanding a lot since the last couple of months.
05:30Brands, you know, we started in entertainment.
05:32We felt like gaming, music, fashion, sports.
05:35They were like the first industry that will attract players in the metaverse,
05:39but rapidly we've seen that brands from also like media, from culture,
05:45from banking, from finance have been present.
05:48And it's been also very successful in not only in Europe or in the U.S.,
05:53but also in other regions of the world, in new countries.
05:56So we have more than 12 regional offices around the world
06:00who brought, like, more than half of the brand in sandbox from Korea,
06:03from Japan, from Hong Kong, from Turkey.
06:05And that creates a new digital world where we are connecting,
06:09where we're playing, and we're interacting without any frontier.
06:12We're all, with our avatar, citizens of a new world without any border.
06:18Something new, as well, and how video games can leverage the metaverse
06:22is this notion of virtual land.
06:25So until now, video games, they were on stores,
06:29like the App Store, the Google Play Store, Steam,
06:31and you were, like, discovering a game through its icon,
06:35through the description, but there was no relation
06:38between two games icon next to each other.
06:42In the case of a virtual world, actually,
06:44there is a lot of connection between two neighbors.
06:47So Lens is a piece of digital real estate
06:50where users can publish their experience,
06:52make it accessible to others with their avatar.
06:56We are already seeing a lot of different content present on the Lens.
07:00and this map, in the case of Sandbox,
07:03it's a finite map of 166, 464 Lens,
07:06but some other virtual world might have different infinite number of Lens, etc.
07:12The strength of this map is really the notion of neighborhoods.
07:15Neighborhoods become the new social layer there
07:18where you can discover content,
07:19and where users, with their avatar,
07:21as they move across the border of one land,
07:24they enter into the land of their neighbor,
07:26which means, like, as a community,
07:29we are creating a new space
07:30where what my neighbor does
07:33and what I do in my land
07:34is beneficial for both of us.
07:36We can attract more users,
07:38we can make them discover,
07:39and we can also, like, complement the content
07:42and the stories we are developing.
07:45The Sandbox using blockchain NFT
07:48started in almost 2017, 2018,
07:51and we launched, for over a year now,
07:54we've been launching a number of experiences
07:56through season and events.
07:57We've had social hubs,
07:59we've had dance clubs,
08:00people attending some virtual shows and concerts.
08:03They bought virtual houses
08:04and invited their friends into it.
08:06We were able to have various places
08:08that they could visit virtually as tourists.
08:12They could discover real museums in the metaverse
08:15or attend fashion shows with their avatar.
08:17So all those activities are already possible,
08:19and that's exciting
08:21because that's really showing that even we can apply
08:24gamification mechanics on top of them
08:26to engage people to play more and more,
08:30to compete, to complete quests,
08:32to earn rewards,
08:34whereas, like, those content
08:35were not necessarily thought to be game.
08:37And so we have been expanding it
08:39toward education,
08:40toward even the banking and finance sector,
08:42and onboarding new users,
08:45a new audience into Sandbox.
08:47Here you can see, like, the game maker in action.
08:50So we also believe that providing tools,
08:53no-code tools,
08:54where anyone can make their own games
08:56without any program knowledge,
08:58has been an essential part
09:00to attract more creators,
09:02to bring more diversified content,
09:05and hence, like, to attract new audiences.
09:08And this is why I believe, like,
09:10user-generated content is so important
09:12for the future of gaming.
09:13It means, like, really we are going to see
09:16a greater diversity,
09:18a greater inclusivity as well,
09:20and offer new opportunities.
09:22Those opportunities,
09:23you can see already some of them here,
09:25like jobs,
09:26hundreds of thousands of jobs
09:28already been created
09:29within the Sandbox ecosystem,
09:31and I believe millions of jobs
09:33will be created
09:33over the next ten years in the metaverse.
09:36Jobs related, of course,
09:37to content creation,
09:38like avatar fashion designers,
09:40architecture, house designers,
09:43game designers,
09:44but not only.
09:45Like, we already saw people
09:47organizing virtual events,
09:49virtual weddings,
09:50or job recruitment events.
09:54Also, like, being a community manager,
09:57host, tour guide,
09:58or even, like, curator of content,
10:01and virtual real estate agent.
10:03And for the first time,
10:05I've kind of, like,
10:05my childhood dream,
10:07I can also earn a revenue as a player,
10:10exploring, completing quests,
10:11collecting resources
10:12that I have the option
10:14to keep, to use,
10:16or even to resell
10:17on marketplaces outside.
10:18So it develops a whole economy
10:20with a real utility behind Attach
10:23around the avatar
10:24and around the digital assets.
10:26Talking about the avatar,
10:28that's also something very important.
10:30Like, for the first time ever,
10:32we have this opportunity
10:34to be reborn.
10:35Like, we can choose
10:37our new digital identity,
10:39whether we want to be a man,
10:40a woman,
10:41a non-gendered,
10:42or a non-human creature.
10:44And the avatar is at the center
10:46of the user experience
10:47in the metaverse.
10:48Like, you use a digital identity,
10:50it holds, like,
10:51how you look,
10:52which community you belong,
10:53and also, like,
10:54your reputation
10:55through the community you participate,
10:58and all the experience
11:00you accumulate.
11:01And that experience
11:02should not stay within one world.
11:05Imagine, like, right now,
11:06you play hundreds of hours
11:07in Fortnite,
11:08in Roblox,
11:09this experience
11:10stays stuck.
11:12They are existing at silo,
11:14closed world.
11:15The idea is,
11:16your avatar is an NFT,
11:18you own it on your wallet,
11:19you should be able
11:20to use it seamlessly
11:21across all the world.
11:23And not only use your avatar
11:27created in sandbox,
11:28but use avatars created
11:29outside of sandbox.
11:30Again, this idea
11:31of being an open metaverse
11:32means, like,
11:33your identity
11:34in other worlds
11:35should become playable
11:37in sandbox,
11:37and that's why we support
11:38more than 60 collections
11:40from the most popular
11:41web-free collection,
11:42and we're always so open
11:44to support more projects,
11:46to interact,
11:48to become interpretable
11:49in sandbox.
11:50Because we believe
11:52in the network effect
11:53in web-free,
11:54that's when other companies,
11:57when other worlds
11:57and games grow,
11:59so can we through that.
12:01I love that,
12:02like Snoop Dogg
12:03in Gucci,
12:04there's only one in the world.
12:05We've launched
12:06other official collections
12:07like Paris Hilton,
12:08like the rabbits,
12:10has been very popular.
12:12Frankly speaking,
12:13I never could have imagined
12:14that I could have
12:15a rabbit avatar,
12:16which I could play
12:17in sandbox,
12:18and now,
12:19every time I enter
12:20an experience,
12:21I'm seeing people
12:22playing with their different
12:23Gordon Ramsay,
12:24Hell's Kitchen,
12:26Paris Hilton,
12:27rabbits,
12:28or Snoop Dogg
12:29all around,
12:29and that creates
12:30this very diverse
12:32cultural virtual world
12:33that also contributes
12:35to the unique identity
12:36of sandbox.
12:37You never saw that
12:39in any other game.
12:40It's like a modern
12:41Disneyland,
12:41where anyone can choose
12:43how they look like,
12:44how they interact
12:44based on their
12:45favorite web-free community,
12:47and with our creation tools,
12:49they also can develop
12:50their own adventures,
12:51their own stories,
12:52and expand that world,
12:53all of that supported
12:55by web-free
12:56and true digital ownership.
12:58We're still at the
12:59early stage
13:00of the metaverse.
13:02Some of you
13:02might have already
13:03entered it,
13:04played with an avatar.
13:05If you come back
13:06six months later,
13:07it's already quite different
13:08because the tools
13:09have been upgraded,
13:10the experience
13:11have been upgraded.
13:12Still, I believe
13:12it's important
13:13to put creativity first.
13:15We are not looking
13:16at monetization so far.
13:18We need to build
13:19more of the audiences,
13:20create the engagement,
13:21and that's why we are
13:22focusing on this,
13:24on giving value
13:24to fans and loyal users,
13:26rewarding people
13:27for their time
13:28and their engagement,
13:29showing what is
13:30a web-free culture,
13:32and encouraging
13:32co-creation
13:33with user-generated content.
13:36The success
13:37of the metaverse
13:38and the success
13:38of a platform
13:39is going to come
13:42from the success
13:42from the studios
13:43that are building
13:44in the metaverse.
13:44so we count more
13:46than 230 studios
13:47around the world
13:48that are growing.
13:50They were,
13:50a year ago,
13:52they were like just one,
13:53two.
13:53I have some of them
13:54now in the audience.
13:55They are like teams
13:56of 10, 20 people.
13:58Some of them
13:58have been acquired,
13:59some of them have worked
14:01with the best brand
14:01in the world,
14:02and their creativity
14:03is what brings the fun
14:05and the new content
14:07in the metaverse.
14:08And our role
14:09is to encourage them,
14:10train them,
14:11bring them more revenue
14:12opportunities
14:13and make all together
14:15the metaverse
14:16a very exciting place.
14:17That's why we believe
14:18as a platform
14:19we should grow
14:20and support
14:21that whole ecosystem
14:22whether in agencies,
14:24in brands,
14:24in education,
14:25and tech platforms.
14:26We provide
14:27that certification program.
14:28Talk to us
14:29if you want to learn more.
14:30We are really happy
14:31to onboard more
14:33than 230 studios.
14:34And we try
14:35to provide
14:36workshops,
14:38showcases
14:39by industry,
14:40success stories,
14:41articles,
14:42video documentaries,
14:44and the first recipe
14:45for how to successfully
14:46enter the metaverse.
14:48Buying land,
14:49showing you there,
14:50creating your experience,
14:52starting your contest
14:54to engage
14:54with your community,
14:55and launching your own
14:56NFT collection
14:57that users will be able
14:58to own.
15:00One last thing,
15:01I have already run out
15:02of time it seems,
15:03so one last thing
15:04is the big milestone
15:06for this year
15:07is self-publishing.
15:08So Sandbox has been
15:09a platform available
15:10in beta
15:11until now,
15:13like our 3D editor
15:14of Voxedit,
15:14our game maker,
15:15our marketplace,
15:16our map,
15:16all of that has been available.
15:18Today,
15:19by end of Q3,
15:21any landowner,
15:22there's more than 23,000
15:23landowners already
15:24in Sandbox,
15:25will be able to publish
15:26their experience directly,
15:28open it to their community,
15:29start engaging it,
15:30and start monetizing it,
15:32which means more content,
15:34more people,
15:34more fun,
15:35and potentially more revenue
15:36for all creators,
15:37again supporting this ecosystem.
15:40So I really encourage
15:41to start building,
15:42start creating your experience page,
15:45start creating your avatar
15:47if you haven't won,
15:48and hopefully we see you each other
15:50in the metaverse.
15:51Thank you very much.
15:52Thank you very much.
15:54Thank you very much.
15:54Thank you.
15:54Thank you very much.
