00:00:00avec Simon Harding.
00:00:21Il y a beaucoup d'interesse,
00:00:43si c'est branching out.
00:00:44Et où je suis maintenant,
00:00:46c'est avec un start-up appelé ArtPoint,
00:00:49qui est juste ici.
00:00:51Et peut-être que vous avez les grands noms,
00:00:53Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Picasso, etc.
00:00:56vous n'avez jamais pensé que l'art et l'art
00:00:58pourrait se faire ensemble.
00:00:59Mais vous êtes très misqués.
00:01:00Et en train de me parler un peu plus,
00:01:03est Lorie Bonin, le co-founder de ArtPoint.
00:01:05Lorie, merci beaucoup d'être avec nous.
00:01:08Vous pouvez commencer par nous
00:01:10ce que c'est et ce que vous faites ?
00:01:13Of course, well, thank you for inviting me
00:01:16and hello everyone.
00:01:18So at ArtPoint, our mission is to bring digital art
00:01:21into living spaces such as hotels, corporate offices
00:01:24or retail spaces.
00:01:25And to do so, we represent more than 350 digital artists
00:01:29coming from all over the world.
00:01:31And we have built an exceptional catalogue
00:01:34of more than 4,000 digital artworks
00:01:36to be displayed directly on any screen.
00:01:39So we provide a streaming solution to transform the experience
00:01:42we have on living spaces.
00:01:44And Lorie, what would you say to perhaps the art purists
00:01:47that would say, ah, technology and art
00:01:49shouldn't have mixed together.
00:01:50But clearly, a lot of artists are trusting you with their art
00:01:54and spreading their work to many places across the world.
00:01:57Yeah, I think artists have always used the tools they have
00:02:03to just push the boundaries of creation
00:02:05and also to be the reflection of the world we're living in.
00:02:10So in a society that is more and more technologic,
00:02:12we definitely need the vision of the artists
00:02:15to just understand how these technologies change
00:02:19our relationship with the world.
00:02:21So today, digital artists can create new emotion.
00:02:24Those artworks are very immersive.
00:02:26they're living and also they can just share very interesting views
00:02:31on, for instance, I don't know, AI data or 3D, for instance.
00:02:38Well, speaking of AI, Lorie, we can see you've got a beautiful
00:02:41collection here of some of the work you do.
00:02:43Is there perhaps one in particular that you could tell us about?
00:02:47Yeah, definitely.
00:02:48So today, we have an exhibition on nature
00:02:51and we really want to present those artists that are trying
00:02:56to understand the frontier between our digital world and nature.
00:03:00So our organic world and we have different artists.
00:03:04So this artist is Ronk SS.
00:03:06She's an artist from Dubai.
00:03:08We have here Saeko Ehara and Tohu Izumida.
00:03:13So they have different approach.
00:03:14this is 3D, this is generative art, this is glitch, different technique.
00:03:19I guess what is very interesting with digital art is that we see
00:03:23that there are as many forms of art as there are technologies.
00:03:27So it's really diverse and I think that digital is a way to distribute art
00:03:36everywhere because first, screens are everywhere and they have a soft power
00:03:41and we can transform today any digital screen into an immersive digital art experience.
00:03:46And also with digital, there are no frontier, so we can present the works of artists
00:03:51from all around the world and I think that's very powerful for the audience.
00:03:55And we can see here, there is a very good energy on the booth and people are just amazed
00:04:01to see how the artist can use those technologies that we use every day to work
00:04:07but in a creative way.
00:04:10And talk to us a little bit about the technology, Laurie, because we know that,
00:04:14for example, there's a big emphasis this year on AI here at Viva Tech 23.
00:04:17So, does AI come into this? To what extent are artists really pushing AI work that they do?
00:04:24Yeah, definitely. It's a very interesting point because we have more and more artists
00:04:29that are embracing this technology, again, to offer new emotions and new aesthetics
00:04:36but also to help us understand how AI may change creativity, change also our relationship
00:04:45with the world, our environment, how we work.
00:04:49So, I think we definitely need the point of views of the artist and here, for instance,
00:04:55we have one of our artists that is working with AI.
00:04:58He's named Benjamin Bardou.
00:05:04So, you have here one kind of AI, it's a prompt to image, but we have different techniques
00:05:11and the artists are really, they are not just, you know, using mid-journey, putting a prompt and et voila.
00:05:22So, our goal at ArtPoint is to identify the artists that are interesting to share and when they are exhibited
00:05:32in our network of clients, they perceive royalties. So, we help them live off their work.
00:05:38We identify the base digital artists worldwide and then we connect them to the rest of the world.
00:05:45And, Laurie, final question from me. It's the third year that you're here at VivaTech.
00:05:50How have you seen, you know, this space evolve? What is it that you're looking for for ArtPoint going forward?
00:05:58As a co-founder of the company, obviously, what do you need, do you think, to reach the next step?
00:06:04What we see is a growing interest towards digital arts and what is very interesting is to see that last
00:06:10year,
00:06:10everybody was asking us, is it NFTs? Can we buy it? And today, people are asking us, is it AI?
00:06:18How is it done?
00:06:19So, here at VivaTech, I think we can see where technology, how technology is evolving and we are just…
00:06:30But does that make it difficult, the fact that it continuously evolves? Does it make it difficult for someone like
00:06:36you or does it make it easier?
00:06:38No, it makes it easy because the artists are also evolving with their time and they are always trying to
00:06:45just think of what they are observing.
00:06:51So, of course, today they are observing AI and they are thinking of this new technology.
00:06:56So, we are evolving also at the rhythm of new technology and we definitely see a growing interest towards exhibiting
00:07:07digital art.
00:07:08Today, we work with many corporate offices, with hotels, with retail spaces as well and we are not only in
00:07:17France because from last year, we also developed in the US and in Asia.
00:07:22So, we see that we can push the boundaries also with this streaming solution.
00:07:28Laurie Bonin, the co-founder of ArtPoint, thank you so much for speaking with us.
00:07:32Well, there you go, a little dip into the art world and a really streaming platform for digital art.
00:07:37Thomas, back to you.
00:07:38Thank you.
00:07:38Thank you.
