00:00Now, as technology advances in such a fast pace,
00:05our needs and wants also change as employees and as employers.
00:11Now, just think about, for example, five years ago
00:14when the flexibility of remote work was almost unheard of.
00:19Today, it is almost the norm.
00:23So, how are companies adapting and reshaping their strategies
00:28and operations to the wants and needs of this transformative workforce?
00:35I don't think there's a better person to talk about this
00:38than Bertrand Dumasie, CEO of Eden Red.
00:43Welcome.
01:02Your company is in 46 different countries
01:08and serving 52 million employees and 1 million corporate clients.
01:16So, you have a great perspective of the evolution of the working world.
01:23So, before we get into that discussion,
01:25I just want to briefly tell our audience a little bit more about Eden Red.
01:28Can you tell us what it is about?
01:30Okay. So, Eden Red is the leading digital platform for the working world.
01:35So, we propose benefits programs.
01:37So, some of you know the ticket restaurant,
01:40but we also have programs for mobility.
01:43So, we have energy cards quite everywhere around the world.
01:47And we are the leading player of what we call specific purpose payment.
01:52So, it's a little bit technical, but to make a long story short,
01:56as an employee, your life is much better
01:59if you have an Ethernet card in your wallet, in your digital wallet.
02:03As you said, we do that in 45 countries.
02:05We are growing super fast.
02:07So, last year, 25%.
02:08And we just entered the CAC 40 last Thursday.
02:14Nice.
02:15So, basically, this is when your company tells you,
02:18okay, come to our company because we're going to give you all these benefits.
02:22with this card, you get discounts for restaurants,
02:25you can get mobility, you can buy things on Amazon,
02:29and so on and so forth.
02:30So, that's what Eden Red does.
02:32Now, let's discuss about what the new norm is then.
02:36Where are we heading with the future of work?
02:39Yeah. In fact, as you said, Ariane,
02:41we are super lucky to observe, in fact,
02:44the new trends of the working world
02:46because we are serving 52 million employees around the world.
02:49and we are seeing four major trends.
02:53The first one, as you said, is the remote work.
02:56So, you have, for example, in Europe,
02:5940% of the workers that are working remotely at least one day per week.
03:04The second trend that we see is a higher need for recognition.
03:08When we talk to all the employees around the world,
03:11and it's true in Latin America, North America, in Europe, in Asia, and also in Africa,
03:17everybody is craving for more recognition.
03:2150% of the employees are saying we are not recognized enough,
03:24and if we were enough recognized,
03:27our commitment, our engagement will be higher.
03:30The third trend that we are seeing is an increase in need for a purpose.
03:3670% of the employees that we serve today are saying,
03:40I will not work for a company without a strong purpose.
03:44And I will say the fourth trend that we are seeing is a huge need for individualization.
03:50So, for example, as to benefits,
03:53more and more employees are saying we want benefits that are customized to my needs.
03:58And when I'm 25 years old, it's not the same needs as I am 50 years old.
04:04It's very different if I have a family or not a family.
04:07So, individualization of the benefits,
04:10we have today 72% of the HR directors around the world that are saying we need to individualize.
04:17We cannot continue with the same program.
04:20And finally, and probably the biggest wave,
04:23and it has been discussed a lot today,
04:25is about artificial intelligence.
04:28And what does it mean for the reskilling and the upskilling of the employees?
04:33And what does it mean in terms of productivity gains?
04:36So, I will say five major trends that have accelerated since the COVID.
04:41So, where does ChatGPT4 fit into all of this?
04:44Yeah, in fact, ChatGPT is one application of artificial intelligence.
04:48And, in fact, this wave is going to be super huge.
04:53Why?
04:54First of all, it's well-founded.
04:55Billions of US dollars are invested in that technology.
05:00The second thing is the adoption rate is super fast.
05:04When you look at the total number of people that have used ChatGPT in less than one year,
05:10it has never happened in this story of mankind.
05:14The third thing is, in fact, it's all about learning on the normative language,
05:20which we were not able to do before.
05:22So, it's well-founded.
05:24It's spread super fast.
05:25And, you know, it's a learning machine.
05:27Every day, it's more intelligent.
05:30Not intelligent, but let's say coming with more and more inferences as compared to the day before.
05:35And so, the applications are huge.
05:39It can be on many different functions.
05:42Think about customer operations.
05:44Think about sales and marketing.
05:46Think about software design.
05:50And think about all the other things you can do.
05:55So, it's many, many functions for many, many different companies.
05:59So, when I look at the size of the wave, the speed of the wave, it's super exciting.
06:06There are some threats, but there are also tons of opportunities.
06:10So, you were talking before that machines are getting more intelligent, smarter with the passing day.
06:16So, what does the future hold for humans then?
06:19Are we going to all lose our jobs?
06:21No.
06:22No, no, no, no.
06:23Once again, there's a great future for all of us.
06:25Because I believe in a few things.
06:27First of all, a machine is always better than a man, but a man with a machine is always better
06:36than the machine.
06:37What does it mean?
06:38It means that it's a tool that we're going to take control of, use, and it's going to augment our
06:45capabilities.
06:46So, no, I truly believe that, in fact, those technologies are a great catalyst for more productivity.
06:55And if we are more productive, and I open a bracket here, for many years, the productivity has not decreased,
07:04but the growth of productivity has decreased year after year.
07:08So, it means that every year, we are more productive, but the gain of productivity is smaller every year.
07:16Thanks to those technologies, it's going to create another area of productivity gains.
07:23And if we are more productive, then we're going to create some wealth, and the wealth could be shared with
07:32everybody.
07:33But it's true that it's a big change in the working world, because for a long time, automation was for
07:41the blue colors.
07:42And the white colors were not totally impacted by the automation or the efficiency or productivity gains.
07:52Thanks to those technologies, there are many, many functions that used to be the functions of the white colors on
08:00which we're going to save time.
08:0225% on average, on the functions, you know, I mentioned before.
08:06So, we will be able for the white color functions to focus on some other things, and to benefit from
08:14those productivity gains.
08:15But it's going to need a lot of upskilling and reskilling of the workforce to get adapted to that.
08:23But I want to be super positive with it.
08:26And let's make a parallel.
08:29A long time ago, I contributed to a survey when on the market was launched the CDs.
08:37And the conclusion of the survey was to say, the CD industry is the end of the live music.
08:45And we were totally wrong.
08:48A new technology, a new format, more affordable to many people, did not kill the live music.
08:54In fact, it developed the live music market because most people had access to music.
09:02So, most people loved music and were craving for new forms of music.
09:07To make a long story short, the glass is more than half full.
09:11So, those new technological capabilities will be good for productivity, so for growth, so for wealth of mankind.
09:21Bertrand, so how can workers adapt to the new era?
09:27Do you have some tips that we can use?
09:30Well, the thing is, when I look at the trends, and it's our job at Aidenred, in fact, to serve
09:38those needs.
09:40So, for the employers, but also for the employees, you could ask for more Aidenred solutions.
09:46Why?
09:46Because we propose digital benefits that you have directly on your cell phone.
09:51So, for an employer, it's easy to put in place.
09:54It's easy to modulate, depending on your employees, your cycle in which you are.
09:59So, if you want more individualization, use Aidenred.
10:04If you want more solutions to help you in the remote working, so for example, to commute at a lower
10:12cost, use Aidenred solution.
10:15So, if you look at those changes, you have many providers, Aidenred being one of them, that could help you
10:23as an employer, but also as an employee.
10:25And then, all of us here, as employees, we will need to work on our upskilling and reskilling.
10:33Because it's coming.
10:35And based on what is coming, let's take the best out of it.
10:39So, we need to get more trained on a more regular basis.
10:43We need to better understand what's going on.
10:45And if we adopt those new tools, then there are many good things that we can do.
10:51So, my advice is, first of all, not to give any advice.
10:55But after that is, take that as an opportunity.
10:59Let's get upskilled and reskilled, and it's going to be more than fine.
11:03So, I want to hear your personal perspective at Aidenred.
11:08How exactly is your team innovating and keeping up with all these emerging technologies?
11:14And, of course, with the wants and needs of the employees?
11:17Well, first of all, for us, it's a question of investment.
11:20So, in digital technologies, including, you know, ChatGPT, we invested for the last six years, 2 billion euros.
11:272 billion euros.
11:28It means that every year, we are investing 400 million euros.
11:33So, it's a question of investment.
11:35Then, it's a question of skills.
11:36So, we have at Aidenred today, 200 data practitioners that are working the data.
11:43And I see Dave, our Dutch, you know, fly man.
11:48We work the data because, once again, we have teradatas every day that are coming on our servers.
11:54So, we create the data lake and we learn how to play with the data and to bring more value
12:01to our client.
12:03So, it's a question of investment, but it's also a question of skills.
12:06And, a few years ago, we had only a handful of data practitioners.
12:12200 today, and very soon, we will move to 500.
12:16So, the combination of investments and skills within the company is the only way to keep up the pace.
12:24But then, there is one last thing is, we cannot do everything by ourselves.
12:28So, what does it mean?
12:30It means that, yes, we need to use some other channels.
12:34First of all, we invest a lot via some partners in venture capital.
12:40So, Tomcat Factory, RAISE, Partec.
12:43Second thing is, we have our own venture capital company.
12:48So, we have Aidenred Capital Partners.
12:50We started with 25 million, 50 million, and we opened a new fund at 100 million euros.
12:57And we invested in 15 different start-ups or scale-ups.
13:02So, it's a mix also of humility and ambition.
13:06Ambition is, we want to grow fast.
13:08And we have the humility to say, we will not do it alone.
13:12So, we need to have the right ecosystem around us.
13:16All right.
13:17Now, how can, you know, if there is a major tip to companies out there.
13:22We talked a lot about employees as well.
13:25But, for companies, what would you tell them?
13:30What would I tell you?
13:32Once again, my advice is not to give advice.
13:35So, do it your way.
13:37Do it your way.
13:38Do it your way.
13:38But what has worked for you that people can probably analyze and imitate a little bit?
13:45Yeah.
13:45No, but the first thing is the market is always right.
13:50So, the job market is right.
13:52If the employees are looking for remote working, there's no way you can go against that.
13:58So, but then, what does it mean?
14:00How do we get organized?
14:02Because remote working, there are many benefits, but there are also some drawbacks.
14:07We know that it's by being together that we are more creative.
14:12We know that if you want to be engaged, you need to have the sense of belonging.
14:17So, yes, remote working, but when we are together, it means that we need to work on the creativity and
14:25we need to work on the community and the sense of belonging.
14:28If it's not done when we are together, then the absenteeism and the turnover is going to skyrocket.
14:35So, us leaders and managers, we need to make sure that we make the promotion of being together.
14:41And when we are together, creativity, community is the top priority.
14:47It's a top priority.
14:49It's a top priority.
14:49Thank you so much, Bertrand, for such an insightful conversation.
14:53It really has been a pleasure having you here.
14:56Thank you, Ariane.
14:58You're welcome.
14:59Time is up, but for our next conversation.
15:02You know, so many concerns have risen lately on the lack of privacy and security that artificial intelligence could bring.
15:10But whatever the view is, it seems that artificial intelligence and AI is here to stay and to progress.
15:20But the real question is, how can we develop AI for the benefit of all working sectors?
15:28And above all, all humans.
15:30So, to spy things up, we're going to go to our next panel of speakers.
15:35Thank you so much, Bertrand.
15:37Thank you.
