00:00And simply put, he says if Alex Bregman wanted to be here, he'd be here.
00:04Maz, McCarthy, Maz, your thoughts?
00:08If only it were that simple, is how I would say it.
00:11If only it were that simple.
00:12And before I even get to the particulars of the comment, let me give you a more global perspective or
00:18a view from 10,000 feet, 30,000 feet, call it whatever you want.
00:23Now, I've said to you in the past, if I were John Henry, I wouldn't talk to the media because
00:28I think it only does harm.
00:30I've come to the conclusion this is now true of everybody in the Red Sox organization above Alex Cora.
00:37None of them should talk.
00:38Right.
00:38And even he, so everybody bitches like, yeah, Henry hasn't talked in six years.
00:44Then Kennedy talks and he is obviously a, what's the word I'm looking for?
00:50Like a replacement or a proxy for ownership.
00:53Surrogate.
00:53Okay.
00:54Surrogate.
00:54That's the word I'm looking for.
00:56Exactly.
00:57Surrogate's the exact word I'm looking for.
00:59That's what Kennedy is.
01:00Is anybody any less angry today or are they angrier?
01:02So here's my point.
01:04And I, and I, I'm not telling you you're wrong to be angry.
01:06If I were them, I wouldn't talk period.
01:10Stop talking.
01:11You make it worse.
01:12Now, look, I believe in accountability, but it doesn't really feel like there's ever a
01:16lot of accountability when they talk.
01:18Sam Kennedy should be talking only about the perspective from the club.
01:22And maybe he is, maybe he's offering that.
01:25But when he sits there and says, if Alex Bregman wanted to be here, he would be here.
01:30He's implying that there was nothing the Red Sox could do to keep him here.
01:34And I think that that is crazy.
01:36I think they had every chance to keep Alex Bregman here.
01:39I think that they had opportunities to negotiate with him before he even hit the market.
01:44And if you want to say Bregman was going to market no matter what, fine.
01:48But if they had been more aggressive from the beginning, because I believe a lot of the
01:53reports out there that they were kind of dragging their feet, waiting to see what the market
01:57was, dinking around, and I'm not even getting yet to talk about the trade requests or the
02:06no trade calls or what have you.
02:08It's just, it's a purely like, oh, it was on him.
02:11We had nothing to do with it.
02:13Maz, it's like my least favorite thing that these teams do.
02:15Who believes that?
02:16Yeah, who believes that?
02:20Who believes that?
