00:18After years of stalled diplomacy, rising tensions, and even military threats, Iran is now signaling
00:26it's ready to compromise. But there's a catch. Tehran says it's willing to scale back parts of its
00:32nuclear program if the United States is prepared to lift sanctions. Is this the breakthrough moment
00:38or just another diplomatic standoff? Let's break it down. In a new BBC interview, Iran's Deputy
00:45Foreign Minister Majid Taqdravanchi said Tehran is open to compromise, including potentially
00:51diluting its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. That's significant. Iran is currently enriching
00:58uranium up to around 60%, close to weapons-grade levels. While Tehran insists its program is
01:05peaceful, that level has alarmed Western powers. Taqdravanchi said the ball is in America's court,
01:11adding that if Washington shows sincerity about lifting sanctions, we will be on the road to an
01:17agreement. But Iran made one thing clear. Zero enrichment on Iranian soil is not negotiable.
01:24Tehran considers uranium enrichment a sovereign right under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
01:30So while dilution is on the table, dismantling enrichment entirely is not. That's where the
01:36gap remains. A second round of indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran is scheduled for February
01:4317 in Geneva. The negotiations are being mediated by Oman, following earlier discussions in Muscat
01:50that both sides described as constructive. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi participated in the
01:57first round alongside U.S. envoys. So far, the talks have been limited strictly to nuclear issues,
02:04not missiles, not regional proxies. U.S. President Donald Trump says he prefers diplomacy and
02:10wants a deal. But he's also warned that failure to reach an agreement could lead to something very
02:16tough, keeping military options on the table. The U.S. has reportedly strengthened its military
02:22presence in the region as leverage. You're meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday.
02:26Has your thinking changed at all as it relates to these negotiations with Iran or the timeline with
02:32Iran? We have to make a deal. Otherwise, it's going to be very traumatic. Very traumatic. I don't want
02:38that to happen. But we have to make a deal. They should have made a deal the first time. They
02:42got
02:43Midnight Hammer instead. And this will be very traumatic for Iran if they don't make a deal. Look,
02:49if they don't make a deal, then it'll be a different story. But we had a very good meeting yesterday
02:55with
02:55Bibi Netanyahu. And he understands. But it's ultimately up to me. If the deal isn't a very
03:04fair deal and a very good deal with Iran, then it's going to be, I think, a very difficult time
03:09for
03:09them in the back. I guess over the next month, something like that. Yeah, it shouldn't take,
03:17I mean, it should happen quickly. They should agree very quickly. Yeah. Washington continues to push for
03:23strict limits, with some officials advocating zero enrichment while accusing Iran of delaying
03:29meaningful concessions. There are still major obstacles. Iran is fortifying underground nuclear
03:35facilities. Sanctions remain crippling to its economy. Trust between the two sides is extremely
03:41low. International observers, including Rafael Grossi of the International Atomic Energy Agency,
03:48have warned the time is running short to prevent further escalation. Iran's Atomic Energy Organization
03:54has hinted it would dilute its 60 percent enriched uranium, but only in exchange for full sanctions
04:01relief. That's a major bargaining chip. So here's the real issue. Can sanctions relief and nuclear
04:09rollback happen at the same time? Or will both sides wait for the other to move first? Iran says it's
04:15ready
04:15to compromise. The U.S. says it wants a deal, but with strict conditions. With a rough one-month window
04:22being discussed and military pressure lingering in the background, the upcoming Geneva talks could
04:27determine whether this turns into a breakthrough or another escalation.
