00:00But that's just how good Shohei Ohtani is, and he is the number one overall pick in every fantasy draft,
00:05and he's going to be again this season.
00:07Some other DHs to consider, Aaron Judge, who gets outfield time.
00:11Jose Ramirez gets infield time.
00:13Tucker in the outfield.
00:14Raleigh, a catcher.
00:15Schwarber, primary DH, but in the outfield as well.
00:18Vladimir Guerrero Jr. does play the infield and showing off his stomach this spring, saying he's in great shape.
00:25But truth be told, with Vlad Jr., George, we've been here.
00:28I mean, he was the best postseason player this year.
00:30He was incredible in the postseason.
00:33But his regular seasons, I mean, when you look at the numbers, you would think, oh, it's Vladimir Guerrero Jr.,
00:38and then you see 20 home runs and 70 RBIs.
00:40You're like, wait a second.
00:41You're like, I thought this guy was going to be 50 and 100.
00:44It never really happened.
00:46Very true, right?
00:48But he certainly turned on the postseason last year.
00:50So maybe this will be the year for the regular season?
00:53I don't know if I'm going to bank on that.
00:55Then again, when we get to first base next week, first base is a little shallow here.
00:59When it comes to Otani, you made a great reference to David Ortiz, because I was thinking about it as
01:03well.
01:03But Mike, oh, here's what comes out of David Ortiz.
01:05We didn't want to take Ortiz because you didn't want to clutter your DH position, right?
01:09That's what we didn't want to do.
01:10We wanted to have that open for other avenues of moving players around here, rather than have Ortiz, who has
01:16to be there each and every game, because of how good he was.
01:19Ortiz is also not Otani, because Ortiz could steal a base.
01:22Otani could do it all.
01:23You got power.
01:24You got average.
01:26He's a freak.
01:27We haven't seen this.
01:28We just haven't seen this, of how good a player he is.
01:31It truly is amazing here.
01:33But yeah, I don't think there's any doubt that if I had the top overall pick, I'm taking Otani.
01:37I mean, it's easy.
01:38One, Otani, move on to the next there.
01:41When I think of the other DHs, I was actually thinking more regular DHs, guys who might only qualify at
01:46DH.
01:46Schwarber will be the next guy that comes to mind.
01:48Once again, this will depend on your league's rules, how many games does the player have to play in a
01:52position to qualify at that position.
01:54You know, is it 10 games, one game, five, 20, whatever it might be there.
01:58But Judge is the number two pick in most leagues anyway there, so away we go here.
02:03But yeah, DH is, if you would have asked me 10 years ago, Greg, I probably was on board with,
02:08I don't want to clutter my DH.
02:10But that changed, even though I didn't even do it in the Ortiz times.
02:12That changed.
02:12You know what?
02:13I'll take Ortiz.
02:13He's just too good to get the loan there.
02:15It did.
02:16It did.
02:16It did.
02:17And he kept rolling.
02:18I mean, even his retirement season, he had like one bad year.
02:21I actually had one bad half of one year in the history of his time in Boston, and he was
02:26just fantastic otherwise.
02:27All right, so a lot of these players qualified other positions too, but let's run through them.
02:31Cattell Marte of Arizona, back with the Diamondbacks.
02:34He is ranked eighth going into the season.
02:36James Wood naturally will play the outfield.
02:39Jordan Alvarez, yeah, plays a little outfield, but generally a DH and really banged up last season.
02:43Otherwise, he would be on the top of this list.
02:46Raphael Devers, first base, I believe, this season.
02:50Gets you a little qualification there.
02:51Brent Rooker of the A's.
02:53William Contreras, who we just talked about, a catcher.
02:56And then the enigma and the biggest question in all of fantasy baseball this season.
03:03Josh Naylor of the Seattle Mariners.
03:06Why is he the biggest question?
03:08Because out of nowhere, this guy stole how many bases, George, last season?
03:13Josh Naylor?
03:14Was it 30?
03:15Did he steal 30 bases last season?
03:18Something like that.
03:19It was more than I ever would have.
03:21Yeah, it was crazy.
03:22He was their best base deal.
03:24I'm looking at it now.
03:25We never saw this coming.
03:26I don't know what, when they decided to run all this.
03:2830.
03:29He did steal 30 even.
03:30You're right.
03:3030 bases?
03:31That's more than the rest of his career combined, by the way.
03:35All right?
03:36He's still 25 bases coming in.
03:38George, if he steals 30, he's probably after Aaron Judge at DH.
03:44But no one believes he's going to do it again.
03:48And I don't.
03:49Not 30.
03:49All right?
03:50I'll give him half.
03:52Half.
03:53You know?
03:53Because generally teams don't even want you to steal, right?
03:55Because they don't want, you know, those 27 hours of pressure, they get thrown out.
04:00Never would have thought it.
04:00Never would have thought it in a million years here.
04:03I'm not touching Rafael Devers, by the way.
04:05Not in that ballpark.
04:06It's just not built for left-handers unless your name's Barry Bonds.
04:09I'll pass there.
04:10Contreras, I would never play him at DH.
04:12He would always be a catcher for me.
04:14The guy, I'm not.
04:16Alvarez is another guy I'm not touching.
04:17You already said the reason why.
04:18He's been banged for a couple of years now.
04:20That wrist, right?
04:20The wrist is always bothering him there.
04:21So I'm not taking him.
04:23Once again, I'll let him be someone else's problem.
04:25He has to prove it to me before I'm going to grab him again.
04:28Cattell Marte, now it looks like he is going to stay in Arizona.
04:30I know he sort of went out his welcome a little bit there with some of his antics that are
04:34going on.
04:35So Rooker, I mentioned, Craig, I love every A.
04:39That ballpark, the ball flies out of there.
04:41They're all going to hit 30-plus home runs.
04:43So I'll take the whole offensive team and put it on my squad.
