04:28Well, one thing I know we will have our eyes on tonight is the Lakers defense.
04:33We have spoken about in the, well, first off, we got to, what's going on here?
04:37This is why he plays so long.
04:40The joy.
04:42Get the hips loose.
04:43We've talked a lot in the first half of the season about how bad the Lakers defense has looked,
04:48but they have certainly improved as of late.
04:51What have you seen, Gucci?
04:52Yeah, I think they've done a really good job of implementing zone.
04:54You know, JJ has sort of figured that they need to mix it up a little bit.
04:59Excuse me.
04:59There's not a lot of point of attack defenders on that team.
05:04Not great on-ball defenders.
05:07So mixing in zone has been great for them.
05:09I mean, they have implemented over the last 10 games a lot, and it's been super helpful.
05:15So what you see here, they've over doubled the amount of times they're running zone.
05:21And what it does is really just closes driving lanes down.
05:24It keeps players in their spot.
05:25It keeps players active.
05:26And they do a really good job of matching up out of that zone.
05:29So they're not having to play 20 seconds of man-to-man defense.
05:33They're able to, you know, disguise it, hide a little bit, and then finish the possession with a man-to-man defense.
05:39Yep.
05:40They're playing almost 16 possessions of a zone defense over the last 13 games.
05:44That's up from a little over three to start the season.
05:47So big adjustments there.

07:54I think the hesitation it causes other teams puts them on the clock, gets them out of their first primary action, and allows the Lakers to have more success right there.
08:02But I think going forward, it's important for them going into a playoff series.

08:07How can they have different options out of the zone?
08:09Right, and I think they're working on that.
08:11But one of the things it's done is it's taken away the first option from a lot of teams.
