00:06Hi, I'm Rina Lopez, the President and Founder of the Knowledge Channel Foundation.
00:10I'm a smart parenting game-changer awardee.
00:18We started the Knowledge Channel 26 years ago.
00:21I used to work for Sky Cable.
00:23We wanted to use the infrastructure that we had with Sky
00:27for the education of children all over the country.
00:31In some areas, they don't even have the books.
00:35So it's easier also to provide the videos and the learning resources.
00:40We also installed the Knowledge Channel in schools outside of cabled areas
00:47through a huge satellite dish on the rooftops of remote schools,
00:53in the mountains, in the islands.
00:55And it would be their window to the rest of the world.
00:59And they would say,
01:00Thank you, Ma'am.
01:01What you bring to us is hope.
01:03What you bring to us is love.
01:04Because they feel very isolated,
01:07we've faced many challenges.
01:09In the early years, they thought it would replace the teachers.
01:13But they said,
01:13No, we will never replace you.
01:16But we make that choice,
01:18you know, to continue to help the children,
01:20their teachers, their parents.
01:22We encourage everyone to be a lifelong learner.
01:26Thank you, Ma'am.
