00:06But we have a more radical plan.
00:10Today I can announce that we Liberal Democrats don't just want to get rid of this anti-growth Chancellor.
00:17We want to get rid of this anti-growth Treasury.
00:21And as part of our plan for government, we would break up the Treasury and replace it with a new,
00:28powerful Department for Growth.
00:31A new Department for Growth with a mandate to boost long-term prosperity, improve living standards and end the cost
00:39of living crisis.
00:40Under our plans, the new Growth Department wouldn't just have a focus on spreading growth beyond London.
00:47The new Growth Department itself would be based outside of London, in the heart of the UK's second city, Birmingham.
00:57And this would send a strong signal because a significant indicator of the imbalance in our economy is the yawning
01:05gap between the UK's capital city and every other city and every other part of the UK.
