00:00Everybody got to learn it with the feet so he knows when and why he's taking that risk.
00:10You know what I'm saying?
00:11Yeah.
00:12People like myself come in because I understand that.
00:15And they will say, why are you trying?
00:16The reason I don't say much more, Steven, because I don't know what guys think I'm trying
00:21to...
00:22You're hating on him.
00:23Yeah.
00:24This is knowledge.
00:25This is all it is.
00:27I was particularly anxious to fight Shakur because it's frankly, probably a fight that
00:43Shakur is going to win.
00:46Devin Haney, you know, Conor Benn, like there's a lot of fights that like Shakur can like be
00:55involved in and beat all these dudes, man, beat all of them, has a chance of beating
01:01all of them, right?
01:03And solidifying, you know, his mark in the sport, you know, being, you know, the great
01:12of his generation.
01:14Boxing pros are split on who would win the potential Shakur Stevenson vs. Devin Haney fight.
01:19Both are young, skilled, and unbeaten champions with smart styles.
01:23Stevenson is known for defense and sharp timing, while Haney uses speed, jab, and ring control.
01:29I actually don't know.
01:30I mean, my mind says Shakur will probably win.
01:38But then I see the great work that he did with Loma or that fight with Loma and overcome
01:45a lot of different obstacles in that fight.
01:51It could be hard for Shakur.
01:52Shakur, right?
01:53Shakur Stevenson.
01:58It'd be hard for him for the long range, the height, how big he is, stuff like that.
02:05And then what makes me think even more is when Shakur stayed spar with Crawford and he had
02:13lots of problems with Crawford.
02:17You know Crawford wasn't punching him hard, but you know what he had problems with?
02:20He had problems with the long arms and the height of Crawford.
02:24So he couldn't counterpunch like he wanted to for Crawford.
02:28Crawford probably wouldn't hit him hard, but it's different, it's different, you know,
02:32he's longer and stuff, it's harder.
02:34So that could be a problem for Shakur that we don't know.
02:38Devin Haney publicly called out both Shakur Stevenson and Keyshawn Davis as his next big fights,
02:43saying a matchup with Stevenson would be the next biggest fight in boxing and then targeting Davis
02:48as well.
02:49Haney shared this challenge on social media after Stevenson's latest win.
02:53The dream confirms what I've been saying, three division world champion, former undisputed
03:00lightweight, former WBC junior welterweight and reigning WBO welterweight world champion.
03:06First ballot Hall of Famer once he retires, superstar boxer, top five pound for pound best fighters
03:11in the world.
03:12Devin, the dream Haney, 33 wins, no loss, no draw, 15 wins by way of knockout.
03:17He calls out another first ballot Hall of Famer of his era.
03:22Ironically enough, Devin Haney is 27 and the person he calls out is 28 years old, who's
03:31another first ballot Hall of Famer, Olympic silver medalist, four division world champion,
03:35former unified super featherweight, who simultaneously up until yesterday held the WBC 135 pound title
03:44and the WBO 140 pound junior welterweight title at the same time, superstar boxer, four division
03:51champion, who will be a first ballot Hall of Famer, Shakur Stevenson, who has 25 wins,
03:57no losses, no draw, 11 wins by way of knockout.
04:00So Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney, as I said, and Devin Haney confirmed it as you see there,
04:05this is the next super fight in the sport of boxing.
04:09As both men rely on skill rather than raw punching power, boxing pros believe their fight
04:15would be extremely tactical.
04:16Devin Haney, of course, calling out Shakur, Steven, Shakur, Stan, anytime you want it, we
04:21can get it done.
04:21Bob, a little bit of this, a little bit of yakking back and forth, right?
04:25I mean, how awesome would that be?
04:27These two names, absolutely stunning about this fight for a while.
04:30It's tantalizing.
04:31It's tantalizing.
04:32It's juicy.
04:32I tell you, this fight now is even more juicy than it was the first time around when
04:38they were talking about it.
04:39When they were talking about it the first time around, Haney was red hot as an unspeated
04:42lightweight champion, and Shakur was the boogeyman who was very good, but was having trouble
04:47locking those big games.
04:48The insider boogeyman.
04:49Right.
04:49I gotta, I gotta be honest, man, like this, this, this could, if this happens right now,
04:53this is the, the right timing too.
04:55We both are at a, at a good moment in their careers.
04:57Very high.
04:57It's actually, it's actually simmered better than it had back then.
05:02Pauly Moline-Aji believes this is the right time for a fight between Shakur Stevenson and
05:07Devin Haney because both fighters are champions and established stars.
05:11He says their styles and achievements make the matchup big enough for fans and meaningful
05:15for boxing.
05:16Back then it was really, really something that, that you wanted to see, but now because
05:21of Shakur's recent performance and Haney still being undefeated and having, having righted
05:26the ship, winning as an underdog, winning as an underdog against Brian Norman, I rate
05:30that.
05:30I rate when you, when you take on a fight as an underdog and you win it, that I rate that.
05:34You know, that's why Haney, for me, got into the circle of trust because he wasn't trying
05:38to milk the whole business like, like John Davis has.
05:40So, so you, he's taking on these kinds of challenges.
05:43He's winning them.
05:44He, he, he built himself up to that level to now, okay, take on all, take on all comers,
05:49win or lose, take on all comers.
05:50He's, he's got that win over, over Norman as an underdog.
05:53You can say what you want post, uh, in hindsight, in, in foresight, a lot of people were picking
05:58against Haney.
05:58He gets that win.
05:59Shakur, in the meantime, makes his name bigger.
06:03Gotta pump those numbers up.
06:04And he pumped those numbers up by, by winning the Shakur, the, the, the Teofimo Lopez fight.
06:09Now, you know what?
06:10Okay.
06:11Now, now there's an interest from both fighters, a lot more money, a lot more at stake, a lot
06:15more, again, ambition.
06:17I like to use that word ambition today.
06:19And, uh, I think a lot more people will be interested in it than the first time around.
06:22Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson have known each other for a long time.
06:26Both started as young prospects, training and competing in amateur circuits before turning
06:31professional.
06:31Over the years, they have followed each other's careers closely, building respect as fellow
06:36champions.
06:37Yeah, no, I like Shakur.
06:38I think, I think he's good.
06:39Uh, I've been knowing Shakur since I was a kid, so, but I always knew that he was good.
06:43I knew that he would be at the top one day.
06:44So, yeah, for sure.
06:45Yeah, me and Shakur, we've been sparring since, bro, I think my first sparring session, we were
06:50like 12 years old.
06:51Maybe, maybe a little bit older, but something like around him, maybe, maybe like 13 years
06:55old.
06:57So, there's been times when he got the best of me and I got the best of him.
07:01But I cannot, you know, judge him off of those sparring sessions.
07:04I know he's gotten better.
07:05Just like I can't judge Ryan off of the fights we fought when we were kids because I know that
07:10he's gotten better and so have I.
07:12You know, if you're judging off a sparring session, I mean, you're going to be in for a long
07:15night, especially a sparring session when I was, when I was a kid.
07:17Roy Jones Jr. believes Shakur Stevenson needs to improve his footwork control.
07:22He says Shakur moves too far out of range after defending punches.
07:26Shakur Stevenson.
07:27Shakur Stevenson is a very good fighter, but you got to learn and I would hope he would
07:32pay attention to this because this is going to mean a lot for him.
07:35His feet are good, but sometimes they're taking him too far out of range to be able to come
07:40back and counter.
07:41The last guy he fought, the guy was a good puncher.
07:44So, when he was jumping back, he was jumping too far back out of range to where he couldn't
07:48come back and get something right away.
07:49And for the fans, it starts to look bored.
07:53That's how I feel like he was running.
07:55He really ain't running.
07:56He just don't understand that distance.
07:57Somebody got to teach him.
07:58And I would teach him if they were brought him to him and me teach him, but he got to
08:01understand what I'm trying to tell him.
08:03I'm not trying to criticize him.
08:04Right.
08:04When you say something bad, they take this criticism.
08:06Right.
08:07No, son.
08:07You got to understand how to knock jumps.
08:09Okay.
08:11People know where the thing that dig the hole, the excavator, right?
08:14Yeah.
08:14If you move that thing back too far, you can't reach the job.
08:18Right.
08:19It's got to work, but it's got to stay on the job while it works.
08:21You can't take it out of, if you're working with this, because this part keeps on the
08:25job.
08:26The feet.
08:27This do the work.
08:28If you take the thing and move it back, it's off the job.
08:31It can't work no more.
08:31Right.
08:32So, if you move it back every time off the job, it ain't going to ever get no work done.
08:35So, now it's going to become boring.
08:36Why?
08:37It ain't doing nothing.
08:38Because of that, he sometimes misses chances to counterattack.
08:41Jones thinks staying a little closer would help Stevenson land counters and take advantage
08:45of opponents' mistakes more effectively.
08:48It's start on the hole, then it moves to another one.
08:50When are we going to get a pawn duck?
08:51We're not.
08:52Because it's taking off the job too much.
08:55You got to leave it on the job for it to get a pawn duck.
08:57And that's his only thing.
08:58He a great fighter.
08:59He got great eyesight.
09:01He has great reaction time.
09:02He going to be a great fighter.
09:03He's just got to figure out how to use them.
09:05Is he the best defensive fighter out of all four of them?
09:08Right now, defensive, yes, because his defense is with his feet.
09:11Because those people don't understand, defense isn't with your hands, it's with your feet.
09:15And he has the best foot defense of the game.
09:17So, if he uses it for defense, when it's strictly defense, yes.
09:20But when you want to make it offensive, you can't do the same.
09:23You got to cut it in half.
09:24And that's the only thing he had a problem.
09:26Once he learns that, or figures that out, he going to be a killer.
09:30Would the skill he has now make him the best out of them four?
09:33Right now, no.
09:34Well, because some people are going to say he's bored, and the reason the rest of them
09:36don't want to fight him is because they know he knew that back foot game so well that he
09:41not going to engage until he wants to engage.
09:43And that's a good thing, too.
09:45But for the fans, and to be able to...
09:47Not right now.
09:48The Raiders, you got to be able to engage when they need you to engage.
09:51You can't, and you're going to become bored.
09:53But Shakur Stevenson is confident he can outbox Devin Haney.
09:56He believes his defensive skills, speed, and precise counterpunching give him the edge.
10:02Stevenson has said that by controlling distance, avoiding Haney's jab, and picking his shots
10:07carefully, he can dominate the fight technically and prove he is the superior boxer in the ring.
10:12For me, personally, I'm on a different level than everybody.
10:17Yeah.
10:17And when it comes down to boxing, because Devin, he's a boxer.
10:22Stevenson has emphasized that if he ever decides to move up to 147 pounds to fight,
10:27he would require a rehydration clause in the contract.
10:31Stevenson believes that post-weigh-in weight gains can create significant advantages,
10:35as some fighters grow substantially overnight, giving them extra power and size in the ring.
10:40By adding a rehydration clause, he wants to ensure a fair fight where both boxers enter
10:45the ring at a similar weight, preventing anyone from exploiting a size advantage.
10:49This approach reflects Stevenson's strategic mindset, showing that he not only relies on
10:54skill, but also on smart negotiation to maintain fairness and protect his chances against naturally
11:00bigger opponents.
11:01If y'all want me to come to 147, I'm coming in with rehydration clause.
11:06I don't even do that.
11:07Yeah.
11:07But why am I going up to these guys' weight classes if I'm not planning on going there?
11:12So any of y'all, y'all want to fight me at 147?
11:15Yeah, rehydration.
11:1510 pounds.
11:1610 pounds rehydration.
11:17Like the IVF rule, basically.
11:19You got to understand, I mean, on fight night, when we get in the ring, they're going to
11:24be 157, maybe 158.
11:29Max.
11:29No bigger than 160 that night.
11:32Right.
11:32I'm cool with that.
11:34So if we could get it like, all right, like the IVF rule, 10 pound rehydration.
11:37Yes, but think about it.
11:40If there's no rehydration clause, these guys going to give it up to 170 pounds.
11:47Yeah, 175.
11:48I'm in the 140s on fight night.
11:51Yeah.
11:52So if I'm 140, they 170.
11:54Bro, man, what am I in here wrestling around with these?
11:57Right.
11:58Come on, bro.
11:58How did you feel at 140, though?
12:00Like compared to 35, did you feel any difference?
12:03Or was it like in your body?
12:04Like does it feel any different at all?
12:06Roll for them, I'm going to be straight because the weight is easy to make.
12:09Bill Haney, Devin Haney's father and longtime trainer, has been very firm about his position
12:15regarding rehydration clauses.
12:17He has publicly stated that he will not accept any restrictions on how much weight Devin can
12:21regain after the official weigh-in.
12:23This stance reflects their philosophy that fighters should be able to rehydrate naturally and compete
12:29at their optimal strength without artificial limits imposed by contractual clauses.
12:33However, this position could create significant challenges if Shakur Stevenson insists on
12:38including a rehydration clause in any potential fight agreement.
12:41Is that, he's on the list.
12:43Is that a fight you guys are seeking or are you leaving it alone since he's saying that
12:48it would require Devin to get a rehydration clause?
12:54Is that something you're willing to get on the phone and discuss how many pounds exactly?
13:00Well, when you're speaking about Devo, you might hear a whole lot of shit that's inconsistent
13:07with things that you say about normal fighters.
13:11When you talk about a generational talent like Devin, you would expect those that are elite
13:19to look to have, you know, to be on a level playing field.
13:26What you weigh is what you weigh and how you get down the next day is, you know, it's what
13:33it's all about, you know?
13:36And that's what that is.
13:38Stevenson's team believes such a clause is necessary to ensure fairness, especially when
13:42moving up in weight classes to prevent opponents from gaining a drastic size advantage overnight.
13:47Bill Haney's refusal means negotiations would likely be complicated, potentially delaying
13:53or even preventing a Stevenson-Haney matchup.
13:55Trainer Wally Moses has weighed in on the idea of rehydration clauses, explaining they
14:00are designed to prevent fighters from regaining a lot of weight after the official weigh-in,
14:04which stops one boxer from entering the ring with a big size advantage over the other.
14:17People think he got so much power and he's so strong, you know?
14:21He ain't got no color, you know what I'm saying?
14:23She ain't like a color to you.
14:26It's not to me, so...
14:27Former world champion Tim Bradley believes Shakur Stevenson is on track to become one of
14:32boxing's biggest stars, possibly even more popular than Terrence Bud Crawford.
14:37Bradley argues that while Crawford will always be remembered for his elite accomplishments,
14:41he never fully crossed over into mainstream fame because he stayed out of the media spotlight.
14:46In contrast, Stevenson has been active on social platforms and consistently visible to fans,
14:51which Bradley thinks helps build his profile.
14:54He says Stevenson's skill, confidence, and willingness to engage with the media could
14:58elevate him beyond Crawford's popularity and make him one of boxing's defining faces of
15:03the next era, even if Stevenson isn't naturally charismatic.
15:06Just about Shakur and his, I would say, projection.
15:12You know, the irony is, it's crazy because, you know, back when, you know, I was helping,
15:23somewhat mentoring Terrence Crawford, you know, Terrence Crawford surpassed everything.
15:29I done did it more.
15:30Um, interesting enough, Terrence Crawford mentors Shakur, and Terrence Crawford is on Mount Rushmore.
15:42Yeah, he is for sure.
15:43But I feel like Shakur, just like Crawford was with me, Shakur has the ability to pass Terrence Crawford.
15:53Deontay Wilder has praised Shakur Stevenson as one of the smartest and most technically
15:58skilled boxers in modern boxing.
16:01Wilder highlighted Stevenson's remarkable ability to control distance in the ring,
16:05making it difficult for opponents to find their rhythm or land meaningful shots.
16:09He also noted Stevenson's timing, which allows him to counterpunch effectively and
16:13capitalize on openings while minimizing risk.
16:16According to Wilder, Stevenson's defensive skills are exceptional, using head movement,
16:21footwork, and positioning to frustrate opponents and force them into mistakes.
16:25This combination of intelligence, precision, and defense makes Stevenson not only difficult
16:30to beat, but also exciting to watch for fans who appreciate technical mastery.
16:35Wilder believes that Stevenson's approach demonstrates a level of ring IQ rarely seen
16:40at such a young age, suggesting that if he continues on his current path, he could become one of the
16:44defining boxers of his generation.
16:46I think Shakur is massively underrated in terms of his achievements and his ability.
17:00Everyone in boxing knows how good Shakur is.
17:01He is pound for pound, top five in terms of quality.
17:06But look at the achievements of the young man.
17:08At 28 years of age, he's already a three-division world champion.
17:11This is to become a four-division world champion.
17:13Quite remarkable.
17:15And Teofimo always rises to the occasion.
17:18Sometimes you see a little bit of a lackluster performance when he's not motivated, when there
17:23isn't kind of any legacy on the line.
17:25This is different.
17:26This is a sold-out Madison Square Garden between two of the elite fighters of our generation.
17:31And the best thing about this fight is we're seeing them in their prime.
17:34After Shakur Stevenson dominated Teofimo with a masterful performance at Madison Square Garden,
17:39Brian Bomek McIntyre reacted with high praise.
17:43Bomek called Stevenson's outing a masterpiece, saying he looks smooth, calm, and beautiful
17:49in the ring, and that young boxers should watch it as a textbook boxing lesson.
17:53He highlighted how Stevenson controlled the fight with smart jabbing, movement, and ring
17:57IQ, noting there was simply nothing Lopez could do to change the outcome.
18:02When asked what it would take to beat Stevenson, Bomek said frankly,
18:05you probably want to stay away from that kid, underscoring just how dominant the performance was.
18:11Masterpiece, man.
18:12He just, he looked so smooth, calm, and relaxed, man.
18:15That was beautiful.
18:16That was the one boxing lesson that you future guys, young guys, and amateurs just turning pro,
18:23watch that, man.
18:24That was beautiful.
18:25He heard his father say in the corner, what happened to your fast hands?
18:29That s*** didn't work, man.
18:30So overall, like, just given the styles that you know in boxing so well, like, was there
18:37any way that Teal could have put on a better performance, a better plan, and gotten a better
18:42result?
18:43No, I don't think whatever he would have brought to the table would have worked, but, you
18:46know, Shakur just got a great boxing mind.
18:49You know, that's just it.
18:51He's got a great boxing mind, and once he put his mind to it, he's going to get the job
18:55done.
18:56What is it going to take to beat someone like him?
18:58I don't know, man.
19:00Probably want to stay away from that kid, man.
19:02Yeah.
19:03In the ongoing debate over a possible fight between Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson, a
19:08major obstacle still prevents the matchup from happening.
19:10Nevertheless, both fighters remain at the peak of their abilities, consistently showing
19:15the skill, preparation, and discipline that make them formidable in any bout.
19:19Their recent performances and undefeated records highlight their professionalism and ability
19:24to compete at the highest level.
19:25Amid the speculation, Haney has openly expressed his readiness to face Stevenson, demonstrating
19:31confidence and a desire to take on challenges that could define his career.
19:35At the same time, he recognizes Stevenson's talent and the difficulty of the contest, acknowledging
19:40that a fight between them would be highly competitive and closely contested from start to finish.
19:45That's truthfully what he's doing because he's saying that he wants to fight and he's saying
19:51that he's willing to fight Devin Haney.
19:53He did an interview on Cigar Talk, said he's open and willing to fight Devin Haney.
19:58Devin Haney is an exceptional fighter, but he can't beat him, right?
20:04Shakur's saying, but I'll beat him.
20:07Devin Haney immediately responds and he says, you're an exceptional fighter, but 1,000%, I'm
20:15going to beat you, right?
20:17Now, here's the thing.
20:21Shakur Stevenson is saying he wants a 10-pound rehydration clause, which would mean Devin Haney
20:27can't weigh more than 157, the night of the fight.
20:31Is Devin Haney going to concede to that?
20:33I doubt it.
20:35So there's a major obstacle in the way.
20:38But nonetheless, as you watch these two fighters fight, you can clearly see, outside of cheating,
20:49they're more than likely not going to lose.
20:51Shakur Stevenson has responded to Devin Haney's recent comments, making it clear that he is
20:56fully aware of the ongoing discussion, and is ready for the possibility of a fight.
21:01Their exchange demonstrates not only mutual respect, but also the strategic thinking that
21:06goes into top-level boxing.
21:07Both fighters understand that a matchup of this magnitude requires careful planning, precise
21:12timing, and thoughtful negotiation.
21:14It is not simply about stepping into the ring, it involves managing weight, contracts, promotional
21:20considerations, and competitive strategy.
21:22Stevenson's acknowledgement of Haney's remarks shows his professionalism and
21:26readiness, while Haney's statements reflect confidence and determination.
21:31Together, their dialogue emphasizes that when these two elite champions eventually face each
21:36other, it will be the product of deliberate preparation rather than happenstance.
21:40Fans can expect a highly calculated, competitive, and technically advanced fight that reflects
21:45the skill and intelligence of both athletes.
21:48We had that 4-King era, but nobody mentions Wilfred Benitez.
21:53And the fact remains is Wilfred Benitez beat Roberto Duran as well.
21:58And Roberto Duran is 1-4 against those guys.
22:01He beat Sugar Ray Leonard the first time.
22:04Outside of that, Roberto Duran, he lost.
22:08He quit against Sugar Ray Leonard.
22:10He got knocked out brutally by Tommy Herms.
22:13He got outbossed by Marvin Hagelin and outclassed by Wilfred Benitez.
22:17Right?
22:18But he's overshadowing Wilfred Benitez.
22:23And I felt like these guys, Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Tank, and Tio, overshadowed Shakur
22:30Stevenson.
22:31And now Shakur Stevenson has shined a light by dominating Teofimo Lopez and asking him out.
22:39Who would come out on top if Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney finally meet in the ring?
