02:15lacy and lovey hey ladies hello hello
02:20okay before we jump into the pageant i want to talk to you guys a bit about hair okay you know we
02:27got to talk about keisha right yes because the girls love keisha do we not love keisha on forever
02:32on netflix yes and so we love the hair evolution of keisha i mean she can pull off braids she can pull
02:41off sleek looks she can pull it all off she can she can okay so as an actress who is constantly
02:48stepping into these new roles how has your relationship with your hair evolved both personally and
02:53professionally well when i started my career it was really me starting to understand my hair more
03:00so starting off personally understanding it and then taking that to a professional lane and learning
03:05how to actually respect it and then love it was how i kind of go through my phases in life personally
03:11but also through these different characters that i'm playing yeah we identify with our hair so much
03:16as black women yeah and lacy you have created so many looks that just they've shaped culture it's
03:24inspired everyday beauty looks and so how do you think the perception of black hair versatility
03:29is shifting in beauty spaces and beyond and what do you think still needs to change
03:35well i think you know we are starting to we're starting to be a part of the change what i love
03:41about us is that we're not afraid of change you know we do so much with our hair we're always it's
03:47always evolving and you know working with shea moisture that has such a broad range of products it
03:52really gives me you know the range to like really do what i need with different you know styles and
03:59create different looks that i have to do well you created some real good looks for for our pageant
04:04show today shall we shall we bring them out we are going to kick things off with miss trailblazer
04:12miss trailblazer represents our roots honoring the styles that laid the foundation the nostalgia of this
04:19up to yes love this is miss kianci carter okay period she looks great this is a nod to heritage
04:28legacy i love it so let's talk about being a trailblazer a little and so lovey i just love to hear from
04:35you i think your character keisha we really as black women can all see ourselves in her and it's just a
04:42different way of seeing black women portrayed in coming of age stories and so for you what does it mean
04:47to be a trailblazer to be a trailblazer is to be unapologetically yourself and to allow others to
04:54be that way for themselves as well so just to help you know encourage them to be them and that's all i
05:00think a trailblazer is like yeah yeah and lacy we have to talk about this bold 90s let's talk about it
05:08i mean can we give it up yes so you use shea moisture jamaican black castor oil styling and oil
05:15and styling gels right yes as we were doing it i was like girl i'm sending you to like i feel like
05:21i'm getting her ready for obviously you know so tell me you use the jamaican black castor oil yeah so
05:28tell me a little bit about what it means to trailblaze the world of black hair artistry so you know it's
05:35great when you've lived it because you really get to see you know things evolve so what it also means
05:41to be a trailblazer you know with hair is just you know going for it you know understanding the hair
05:48history and taking the knowledge that you've learned and and creating something new with it so you know
05:53i've i've lived this moment like i was this girl like i had this hairstyle in the fifth grade i probably
05:58had in the eighth grade graduation like i've had this hairstyle but you know now you know today 2020
06:05five you know having access to products you know like shea moisture to help me create these looks
06:10you know and to just take it to another level you know this is a nostalgic moment but you know using
06:17the products to you know keep the edges smooth and to keep her edges moisturized really just helps
06:22take it to the next level well it looks great let's give it out one more time for miss trailblazer
06:27okay next up we have miss kara theodore who is miss versatile yes let's see
06:42this look is limitless and breaks the rules because we love breaking rules what are meant to be broken
06:50she like every black woman she's ever evolving this is a nod really to black creativity
06:56and innovation in hair exactly and so we're coming back to you we're going to talk about a little
07:01bit about versatility lovey tell me how has versatility in your roles and in your hair helped
07:07you really explore dimensions of yourself well every person has come like hairstyles they're comfortable
07:15with and we all like go to those two or three maybe when even when our hair isn't acting right but
07:21that's different for every girl so all of these characters that i'm playing they'll have you know
07:26there are two to three different hairstyles and getting to be familiar with that through my
07:30characters just allows me to just expand more on knowing what i like and knowing how to move forward
07:37with my hair just to like give me ideas just like this like this right here this is it's both i'm already
07:43like plotting in my head we're gonna see you in this style listen baby um please
07:49okay and lacy for a woman who loves to switch it up love to be versatile what is the best advice you
07:58can give for maintaining hair health because i think that matters too like we can switch it up we
08:03can do the braids we can do the weaves we can do all the things we can do these yeah creative looks
08:07but what is some advice for maintaining hair health yeah i think maintaining hair health is a you know
08:13getting the knowledge you know if you don't have them for you know doing the research going to a
08:18stylist that really understands how to take care of your hair is important and and having products
08:24you know that can help you maintain your hair health as well so you know with this versatile style
08:30um you know we use the coconut hibiscus you know um edge gel to really just keep love you know to you
08:38know keep maintaining her edges as she you know wears the style yeah i love it well thank you so
08:44much miss first style you look great yes and and shout out to to kara because she she we collaborated
08:53on this look together she also is a hair stylist and she does hair art on herself so i just wanted
08:58to give her a shout out that you know i have seen her work actually before shout you out kara okay
09:05and lastly but certainly not least the moment we've been waiting for she is it all she's a
09:11trailblazer she's versatile she's limitless please welcome the miss who embodies it all miss shaversity
09:19okay kiara isaiah
09:24this look blends the classic with the modern but it embraces every side of yourself
09:30i love right it is just like like when we talk about breaking rules this is it like you embrace
09:37what you want to embrace and so go ahead no i was just saying i love this hair i should do it with my
09:43afro the colors everything and so today's pageant on forever everything is about self-discovery authenticity
09:52and so tell me lovey what is one piece of wisdom about embracing beauty your beauty through hair your
09:58journey your artistry that you'd share with your younger self and your fans i would share with my
10:05younger self as well as my fans to be comfortable in your skin and in yourself and to find yourself in
10:14spaces that allow you to further feel that comfort within yourself and find places that celebrate you
10:21that's what i would say i love that i agree we only go where we are celebrated only going where i'm
10:26celebrated and lacy this final look it just it feels timeless but it's bold it's edgy i know you like to
10:33add a little edge you know we gotta add a little razzle dance always so what does it mean to find your
10:39signature look when it comes to your hair yeah i think you know sometimes something we've seen before
10:44like you know a traditional afro we've seen this you know it's like if if that's who you are like you
10:51know celebrate who you are you don't have to change who you are but you know adding a modern touch to it
10:56you know so we use the curl enhancing smoothie to you know just really help you know get some moisture
11:03into her fro and and and then we you know we added a little razzle dazzle as you can see yeah so it's
11:10really just about celebrating yourself and your individuality you know i love it yeah well thank you so
11:16much miss shaversity let's give it up again for all three of our queens miss trailblazer
11:22miss versatile and miss shaversity and a huge thank you to both lovey simone and lacy redway for reminding
