00:00:00Oh
00:00:30Oh, my God.
00:01:00Welcome to my Hapkido training video, Volume 1, which includes International Hapkido
00:01:29Federation requirements for achieving your yellow belt.
00:01:34The techniques presented on this tape will include stretching and conditioning, basic
00:01:44kicks, basic punching, basic blocks, and defense against punches.
00:01:57Now carefully follow along with my chief instructors.
00:02:02And I personally teach you these important requirements.
00:02:07I wish you great success in your training.
00:02:15Now I would like to introduce my chief instructors, who has been trained with me for the last
00:02:2121 years.
00:02:23They are all 50-degree black belt.
00:02:29On my right-hand side, Eric Friske.
00:02:36Next, Danny Cruz.
00:02:41Next, Mark Ganon.
00:02:48Now I would like to introduce Tan Jun breathing.
00:03:07The definition of Tan Jun means Tan represents red.
00:03:14Red represents fire.
00:03:17Fire means power, which means natural key power we have lived with it.
00:03:24The Chan means base, foundation, which means we develop key power through your lower abdomen, which
00:03:34is one inch below your navel and circle around one inch.
00:03:41That's what we call Tan Jun.
00:03:43Now we inhale with your Tan Jun through nose, and then hold them down, and then exhale with your nose.
00:03:53Now I would like to have him to demonstrate here.
00:03:58Inhale four seconds, and then hold them down to lower abdomen for four seconds, and exhale
00:04:07another five seconds, and repeat this for roughly half hour whenever you can.
00:04:20Okay, next, stand up.
00:04:29This time, we are going to show you with the movement.
00:04:34The same thing, get ready.
00:04:40As your hands move, same thing, inhale with your nose for four seconds, and then hold them
00:04:47down here, and then another four seconds for hold them, and then exhale for five seconds.
00:04:55Go ahead.
00:05:00There are two types of key powers, internal key power and external key powers.
00:05:20These are more towards external key power.
00:05:23The first one we will show you, the former one, is internal key power development.
00:05:33Also you do this for roughly about ten minutes, and again and again.
00:05:53We are going to begin with the warm-up exercises of HEP KITO.
00:06:03It is very important that you warm up properly to avoid injury.
00:06:06Put your feet apart, shoulders width, relax, and rotate the wrists.
00:06:11Wrist flexibility is very important for the throwing and wrist locking techniques.
00:06:16Concentrate on being limber and relaxed.
00:06:24Follow along with Master Han's students.
00:06:29Do each wrist exercise equally, left and right side.
00:06:35Take your hands to the floor, palms flat, and stretch back, hands on the buttocks.
00:07:00These exercises will help loosen up the leg muscles and the hamstrings for the kicking techniques
00:07:13to follow.
00:07:22Keep rotations for the throwing and falling techniques are very important.
00:07:44Now the side squat stretch, sit down on the right leg, keep the left toes straight up.
00:07:53The main thing is to concentrate on being relaxed.
00:07:59This will have a great effect on keeping the muscles loose and warm.
00:08:04Don't force the stretch.
00:08:06Just do what you can and eventually you go into the full sit position.
00:08:11Okay, now for the runner stretch, just step out.
00:08:22Keep your left foot flat on the arch.
00:08:27Lean all your body weight forward.
00:08:28Switch.
00:08:30Okay, same technique to the other side.
00:08:36This will loosen the groin and hamstring muscles.
00:08:39It's very important to keep your head up and back arched.
00:08:48Again, warming up the hip.
00:08:57Just kick it out.
00:08:58Stay loose and relaxed.
00:08:59It's a little more advanced stretching exercise sitting down in a split position.
00:09:08Again, do the technique as far as you can do it and don't force it.
00:09:13You don't want to injure yourself.
00:09:17Notice how the students hold the split position.
00:09:32This opens the muscle and this creates the stretch.
00:09:36Do not stretch with quick jerky movements.
00:09:40Slow movements holding the position for a minute or two.
00:10:01The sitting Chinese side split.
00:10:08Back leg is flat.
00:10:10Front leg, the toes are facing up.
00:10:13And you're sitting straight down.
00:10:18Okay.
00:10:19Get up.
00:10:20Move up.
00:10:21Move up.
00:10:22Shake your leg.
00:10:23Then arms down.
00:10:25Get your feet together.
00:10:27Go back.
00:10:28Now the crab stretching position.
00:10:48Pull your feet in.
00:10:50Soles of the feet together.
00:10:53Grip your feet underneath and pull your head forward.
00:10:55Again, staying relaxed, trying to touch your head to your toes.
00:11:00This will have a great effect on loosening the groin muscles and hamstring area.
00:11:14All the way.
00:11:24Now bring your feet forward.
00:11:27Okay.
00:11:28Legs out straight.
00:11:29One.
00:11:30Two.
00:11:31Three.
00:11:32Pull your toes back, stretching the calf muscle and hamstring.
00:11:37Seven.
00:11:38Eight.
00:11:39Nine.
00:11:40Ten.
00:11:41Now pull your toes.
00:11:43Exhale.
00:11:44Go down.
00:11:45One.
00:11:46All the way.
00:11:47With your hands over your toes, bring your head forward to your knees.
00:11:52And up.
00:11:53This may be a very difficult stretch for a beginner, but eventually, within three months,
00:11:58you should be able to hold this position for at least two or three minutes.
00:12:02Breathe.
00:12:03With your head to your knees.
00:12:04Keep the knees locked.
00:12:08Up.
00:12:09One.
00:12:10Very slow movement.
00:12:11Head forward.
00:12:12Okay.
00:12:13This also stretches the back muscles.
00:12:14Back to the seated split position.
00:12:16This also stretches the back muscles.
00:12:28Back to the seated split position.
00:12:34Okay, fourth hand on your left toe, ready, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, reverse, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, that's now, now, and forward.
00:13:04This time bring your head to the floor and hold the position.
00:13:18Now to warm up the shoulders and triceps, push-ups, very basic effective strength building exercise.
00:13:26Do them on the fist of your hands.
00:13:32Now the scooping push-up from the split position, dip down, back, and stretch.
00:13:42Working the arms and leg muscles for flexibility.
00:13:56Setups for strengthening the abdominal area to withstand punches and kicks to the body.
00:14:01Very basic effective exercise that should never be neglected.
00:14:06Do a minimum of at least 100 a day.
00:14:11Now rotate your body.
00:14:14This will effectively work the oblique muscles.
00:14:18Relax.
00:14:19Relax.
00:14:20Body twist.
00:14:21Keeping the body warm and loose.
00:14:25Okay now.
00:14:26Loose now.
00:14:27Okay.
00:14:28Relax.
00:14:29Body twist.
00:14:30Keeping the body warm and loose.
00:14:31Okay now.
00:14:32Loose now.
00:14:33Finishing with hip rotations.
00:14:40You are now completely warmed up for the next series of training exercises.
00:14:56Here.
00:14:57Yeah.
00:14:58I would like to explain about fighting positions.
00:15:11First of all, you stand with shoulder width and then you balance 50-50 both legs instead
00:15:21of leaning forward or backward.
00:15:25And then now turn shoulder naturally just because one foot front and let it out the same
00:15:33way.
00:15:34Now your left hand, point it out to your opponent's center.
00:15:38Then right hand, guard your left side.
00:15:43And from there on, if someone attacks from left side, all he has to do is up arm to block.
00:15:56Like so.
00:15:57And then lower.
00:15:58If I kick, let's bring it down here.
00:16:01Again.
00:16:04Now same thing here.
00:16:06Go.
00:16:07One.
00:16:08Oh, down.
00:16:10And then from there, you could use both sides evenly.
00:16:15Or front kick.
00:16:17Or take a step to the side either way.
00:16:30Now I'd like to show you footworks in Habgito.
00:16:34The steps are very important.
00:16:36Watch carefully.
00:16:39Watch 3 out.
00:16:41And then four.
00:16:51Now, opposite direction,
00:16:55Now slide backward.
00:17:07Now step, half-seid foot backward.
00:17:37Now I would like to show you some basic kicks.
00:17:49There are three basics, front, side, and roundhouse kicks.
00:17:56The front kick is executed with the ball of the foot.
00:18:00Push your toes out, curl them back, and lock the foot straight, hitting with the pad or
00:18:04ball of the foot.
00:18:07From here, we have three different targets, basically, lower, and then middle, and then
00:18:16high front.
00:18:17And then, let's go all together, ready, right foot front, slow, now speed it up, key up,
00:18:36switch, slow, now, strong, now, ready, go.
00:18:49Ready, go.
00:19:02Ready, go.
00:19:03One more time, ready, go.
00:19:15Okay.
00:19:16Ready, go.
00:19:17Okay.
00:19:18Ready, go.
00:19:19Ready, go.
00:19:20Ready, go.
00:19:21Ready, go.
00:19:27One more time, ready, go.
00:19:28One more time, ready, go.
00:19:29Ready, go.
00:19:30Ready, go.
00:19:31Ready, go.
00:19:32Ready, go.
00:19:33Ready, go.
00:19:34Ready, go.
00:19:35Ready, go.
00:19:36Ready, go.
00:19:37One more time, ready, go.
00:19:41Ready, go.
00:19:43Ready, go.
00:19:45Ready, go.
00:19:46Ready, go.
00:19:52Ready, go.
00:20:06The proper foot position for the sidekick is to push the heel out and curl the toes back.
00:20:19You're hitting with the edge of the foot.
00:20:23Sidekick, also lower, and then middle, then high-kicks.
00:20:36Ready?
00:20:38My foot front, slow down first.
00:20:41Ready?
00:20:42No.
00:20:49Ay!
00:20:52Speed it up.
00:20:53Ay!
00:20:54Ay!
00:20:55Ay!
00:20:56Ay!
00:20:57Ay!
00:20:58Ay!
00:20:59Ay!
00:21:00Ay!
00:21:01Switch.
00:21:02Now, there's the most important thing in this sidekick and roundhouse kick.
00:21:08As you kick, you must pivot turn.
00:21:13If you don't pivot turn around, the body is not free to turn all the way around.
00:21:20So make sure as you kick turn.
00:21:23Okay?
00:21:24Ready?
00:21:25Slow motion.
00:21:26Slow down.
00:21:27Slow motion.
00:21:28Slow down on me.
00:21:30No!
00:21:31Okay.
00:21:34Ay!
00:21:36Ay!
00:21:37Okay.
00:21:38Strong.
00:21:39Ready, strong.
00:22:01Ready, go.
00:22:05And one more time.
00:22:09Ready, go.
00:22:39Ready, go.
00:22:41Ready, go.
00:22:43And one more time.
00:22:45Ready, go.
00:22:47Ready, go.
00:22:49One more time.
00:22:51One more time.
00:22:53One more time.
00:22:55One more time.
00:22:57One more time.
00:23:05When striking with the roundhouse kick, you kick with the instep of the foot. Keep your toes curled down as you strike around with the top of your foot.
00:23:13Roundhouse kicks.
00:23:17It's the same thing.
00:23:19From lower, we could kick side or middle of the body.
00:23:27And then now we could kick the head from here.
00:23:31Okay, ready?
00:23:33Slow.
00:23:35One.
00:23:37Two.
00:23:39Three.
00:23:41Speed it up.
00:23:43One.
00:23:45Two.
00:23:46Three.
00:23:47Speed it up.
00:23:49Easy.
00:23:50Easy.
00:23:51One.
00:23:52Two.
00:23:53Three.
00:23:54Okay, now.
00:23:55Speed it up.
00:23:56Easy.
00:23:57Easy.
00:23:58Easy.
00:23:59One.
00:24:00Two.
00:24:01Three.
00:24:02Okay, now.
00:24:03Speed it up.
00:24:04Easy.
00:24:05Easy.
00:24:06Easy.
00:24:07Easy.
00:24:08Easy.
00:24:09Easy.
00:24:10Easy.
00:24:11Easy.
00:24:12Easy.
00:24:13Easy.
00:24:14Easy.
00:24:15Easy.
00:24:16Easy.
00:24:17Easy.
00:24:18Easy.
00:24:19Easy.
00:24:20Easy.
00:24:21Easy.
00:24:22Easy.
00:24:23Easy.
00:24:24Easy.
00:24:25Easy.
00:24:26Oh
00:24:56Oh
00:25:14Yeah
00:25:26Well, I would like to explain the most important thing in punches
00:25:36Your posture
00:25:38First of all, explain about step by step
00:25:42Step to the side to move into your opponent
00:25:46Would you face me here?
00:25:48From this fighting position
00:25:51Step to slightly angle
00:25:54And at the same time
00:25:56Move your center
00:26:00You have to move your center first
00:26:02Otherwise, you're going to lean forward or lean backwards
00:26:06So with this
00:26:08Move together
00:26:10As you do that
00:26:12The solid balance
00:26:14This is the most important thing
00:26:18As you punch here
00:26:22Straight forward
00:26:24That's very important
00:26:26That's very important
00:26:28All these black fist
00:26:30And rich hands
00:26:32Knife hands
00:26:34Everything has to be the same position
00:26:36Can you do that
00:26:38That's very important
00:26:40You can come to the next
00:26:42Question
00:26:44About
00:26:46You can take place
00:26:48You can take place
00:26:50The first target area is the solar plexus.
00:27:13Strike straight out into the center of the chest area.
00:27:16It's the soft circular spot of the body.
00:27:18This will knock the wind out of your assailant.
00:27:23Next area is directly into the nose.
00:27:33With the backhand, you can also strike across the jaw or nose area.
00:27:43Another lethal area is to strike the temple.
00:27:46This will immediately disable your opponent.
00:27:53With the inside ridge hand, you strike across the throat or jaw area.
00:27:59The strike comes around and in with the inside of the hand.
00:28:02It can also be applied to the temple.
00:28:10It's a very powerful striking technique.
00:28:17Another power strike is the palm heel.
00:28:19Again, directly into the body, striking into the solar plexus.
00:28:25Or coming right underneath the jaw.
00:28:27It's a very effective strike for women.
00:28:31It generates a lot of power and avoids breaking the hand as opposed to a punching strike.
00:28:39Now with the chop, come around striking into the neck area or temple.
00:29:01The chop strike into the body or rib cage using the outside edge of the hand, keeping your fingers
00:29:07tightly pulled together.
00:29:13Head-in strike to the temple.
00:29:22The chop strike can also be used to the neck area, striking straight down.
00:29:26Another technique is the hammer fist, coming directly down on the neck or head area.
00:29:43One of the most powerful strikes is the upward elbow.
00:29:53This is for close-in fighting techniques, coming in and also striking across the body, across the face area.
00:30:13This is for close-in fighting techniques, coming in and also striking across the body.
00:30:43of the enemy.
00:30:44This is for close-in fighting techniques, coming in and watching.
00:31:11Slide in.
00:31:23Switch.
00:31:36Same position, knife pen.

00:32:13Next switch.
00:32:15Next switch, palm here.
00:32:27Switch.
00:32:36Next, back fist, same position.
00:32:49Ready?
00:32:56Switch.
00:33:05Now, downward knife bend.
00:33:08Ready?

00:34:02Get the same position.
00:34:32Okay, snap. Hammer, B.
00:34:44Switch.
00:34:55Okay, snap.
00:35:02Now let's review the techniques of the punches that the master just demonstrated with his class.
00:35:11Let's concentrate on the straight punch. The proper technique is as follows.
00:35:17Assuming a strong stance, strike out, and as you strike, hold the other fist back in perfect harmony.
00:35:26This will generate tremendous power you're striking into the solar plexus area.
00:35:32Notice how the head stays steady and strikes directly inward into the target.
00:36:02The next striking technique is the reverse punch. A very powerful straight punch. Extra power is generated from the stepping motion.
00:36:23You're sliding in with your lead foot and striking with the opposite hand.
00:36:35This strike covers distance and allows you to come in on your attacker, generating tremendous force.
00:36:43Instructor Cruz will show you how to strike with power.
00:36:50Use your body weight and momentum to strike forward into the target.
00:36:57Concentrate on striking at least four inches into the target area. You don't want a surface strike.
00:37:03Concentrate the same way you would as if you were breaking a board, striking through the target area.
00:37:13One of the quickest striking techniques of hapkido is the back fist.
00:37:34You make a tight fist position. You strike with the back knuckles of the hand. It's a snapping motion.
00:37:41Striking out and back very quickly. Watch carefully.
00:37:44The target area is the jaw or temple or nose.
00:37:59Watch the power generated on the striking mitt. Take your position, sliding in and snapping out and back.
00:38:06The snapping motion generates tremendous speed, which in turn creates the power.
00:38:18One strike quickly across the nose and your opponent is virtually finished.
00:38:36Keep your eye on the target. Keep your head steady. Let your hand do all the action, all the work.
00:38:46Concentrate on speed.
00:39:06A very deceptive and powerful strike is the ridge hand strike.
00:39:20You're striking with the inward part of the hand, the edge of the hand.
00:39:25Keep your fingers tightly pulled together, thumb down, making a very powerful striking position.
00:39:32The motion is to come around and into the target. The target could be the temple, jaw, neck, even lower rib cage.
00:39:49Watch the power generated on the mitt.
00:39:51He slides in and strikes across the head area.
00:39:57Very effective technique. If someone were to grab your left hand, you come around with your right hand into the head area.
00:40:06Very hard technique to block.
00:40:11Very hard technique to block.
00:40:39Now follow along as Instructor Cruz gives you a very detailed lesson on the palm heel
00:40:46strike.
00:40:49As mentioned earlier, pull your fingers back and strike upward with the palm of the hand.
00:40:57This is directed to the jaw, solar plexus, throat or rib area.
00:41:05It can also be used to strike up to the groin.
00:41:07If you're on the ground and your opponent is standing over you, very, very destructive,
00:41:13powerful strike.
00:41:18Use your body's momentum to slide in and strike.
00:41:33Notice how he strikes from the shoulder area.
00:41:37He pulls the palm back and snaps upward.
00:41:53This is one technique you would not want to get hit with.
00:42:07A knife hand strike or chop is a versatile technique you will want to perfect.
00:42:16Follow along now and master each important movement when executing the chopping technique.
00:42:24As you come forward, bring your left hand around to your ear and with a sharp motion, strike
00:42:29out and across.
00:42:33Target areas include the neck, jaw and temple.
00:42:42The chop or knife hand generates tremendous power in a very short motion.
00:42:54Unlike the ridge hand, you're striking with the outer edge of your hand.
00:43:00Keep the fingers tightly together, thumb tucked in and strike with the edge.
00:43:05Concentrate on that area.
00:43:11You're not striking with the fingers, you're striking with the edge pad of the hand.
00:43:20The reverse knife hand or chop strike is done across the body going outside and in.
00:43:42Watch carefully now as Instructor Cruz takes you through this very important technique.
00:43:50Swing in from the outside across the body, striking at head level to the jaw, neck or nose
00:43:59area.
00:44:10Watch the power generated with this very lethal technique.
00:44:17This is an excellent technique if someone were to take you from behind and spin you around.
00:44:26You could spin around with the open reverse chop or knife hand into the vital areas of the
00:44:33head or body.
00:44:40Because of the angle of attack, the chopping downward strike has tremendous force, one of the most
00:44:45powerful strikes in Hepkido.
00:44:52Raise your left hand above your head, keeping the fingers tightly together, coming down with
00:44:58the outer edge of the hand.
00:45:00Again, striking with the outer pad of the hand, not the fingertips.
00:45:07Focus your power on this area.
00:45:15This is an excellent technique to disarm an attacker who has something in his hand, you'd come down
00:45:22on his wrist or if he has dropped to his knees, you can come down to the neck or collarbone.
00:45:28This is an excellent technique to disarm an attacker who has something in his hand, you'd come down
00:45:35on his wrist or if he has dropped to his knees, you can come down to the neck or collarbone.
00:45:58One of the most powerful hand strikes is the hammer fist.
00:46:19Keeping a very tight fist, the motion is to strike downward into the target area.
00:46:25Watch carefully.
00:46:39Raise your hand high, making a tight fist, coming straight down into the target.
00:46:48It can also be used across the body into the jaw.
00:46:54Women and children should concentrate on perfecting this technique because it causes the least amount
00:47:12of injury when striking with the hand out of all the hand weapons.
00:47:18Keep the fist tight, striking with the edge of the hand or the padded area of the hand.
00:47:27The tight fist in downward motion absorbs most of the shock as opposed to an open hand strike,
00:47:33which would catch the shock into the finger areas.
00:47:54Elbow strikes are excellent for in close fighting, where you cannot extend out with your hand or kick.
00:48:00They're very powerful and effective techniques that are easy to learn.
00:48:05Watch carefully.
00:48:07Come across with your elbow, striking into the head area, which would be the jaw, nose, temple, or even neck.
00:48:15The motion is short and quick.
00:48:20Bring the elbow around, pulling your fist into your body as you strike with the outer edge of the elbow.
00:48:27Not the exact tip, but the side of the elbow.
00:48:31Witness the power of this technique.
00:48:36Follow along and drive your body forward, coordinating the elbow as you step.
00:48:43The strike is into the ribcage, the solar plexus.
00:48:50Very few assailants could withstand the strike.
00:48:53Very few assailants could withstand the strike.
00:48:57And they're very few assailants could withstand the strike.
00:48:58And, their arm is AP.
00:48:59And they're using AP.
00:49:00And, their arm baby's Akash.
00:49:01Don't see any damage, might fall off the ball too.
00:49:02In that and, their arm andド-onkid slid the strike.
00:49:03The arm number too lags pessoa, nobody canatten his hadi.
00:49:04And, their arm's goes have Scaredor.
00:49:05The enemy will override thexe in the line there.
00:49:06The enemy will HELP.
00:49:07Deepia from the bag.
00:49:08And the number two to buckle out of the Michael Awhiah.
00:49:10The enemy gan Dung.
00:49:11Part and the last attempt has been cholerned in the clutch.
00:49:12It went away from the shotgun use.
00:49:13AwhiAHHHDoRIKH!
00:49:145m dt hook needs minunk%ere disable us.
00:49:16Yeah.
00:49:24Yeah.
00:49:32Yeah.
00:49:40Yeah.
00:49:52Now let's concentrate on the upward elbow strike. This comes underneath and strikes up into the jaw area.
00:50:04This simple technique may one day save your life. Watch carefully.
00:50:09As you slide forward, drive upward and keep your eyes on your assailant.
00:50:19Keep your left fist tight and you're striking with the underside of the elbow or point.
00:50:32Now watch carefully.
00:50:34It's very important that you train on the power pads. You must get a feel for striking and assailant.
00:50:42This way you won't panic in a real street situation.
00:50:46You won't be afraid to make contact. Look at the force this elbow generates.
00:50:56It's a very hard technique to see because it's coming from underneath under the jaw.
00:51:04Very hard technique to block.
00:51:06Well, I would like to show you some basic defense against punch deflecting instead of blocking.
00:51:16Let me show you how we do.
00:51:28As it's coming at me, step to the side. At the same time, use palm to deflect instead of blocking this weight.
00:51:42So here, one, two, and then I could go from here to the other direction.
00:51:54From here, one. Then I can counter any way I can do it.
00:52:00Now, the other forearm to deflect either. Instead of pushing away, I take a step to the side and deflect.
00:52:10And then the other side too. From here, moving.
00:52:16And so I can do a lot of other things from here.
00:52:20Based on this, we defend against all different types of punches.
00:52:40Look at the timing of Master Han's movements.
00:52:42With very little effort, he sidesteps the strike and redirects it with his open palm.
00:52:50His opponent remains vulnerable to any strike he wants to hit him with.
00:52:55In slow motion.
00:52:58Slight body shift to the left.
00:53:01He gets out of the direct line of the power.
00:53:04Totally controlling his opponent.
00:53:06He can throw him, strike him, put him in a lock, choke hold.
00:53:10Whatever he wishes.
00:53:13So when someone lunges at you, sidestep the force.
00:53:19Control the situation with your hand.
00:53:22You don't always need to hard block.
00:53:24Open hands, slap away.
00:53:25From another angle, watch carefully.
00:53:35The simple move can only be mastered by practicing daily.
00:53:40Timing is everything.
00:53:42Without proper timing, you'll get hit.
00:53:55It's as simple as that.
00:53:56It's as simple as that.
00:54:09This is one of the many advantages of Hapkido, controlling your opponent through simple footwork.
00:54:14Through simple footwork.
00:54:15Through simple footwork.
00:54:17Locate...
00:54:18In the middle finger...
00:54:19...and just come on and out of the situation.
00:54:20It's not a good way.
00:54:22One...
00:54:25One...
00:54:26Two...
00:54:27One...
00:54:28Two...
00:54:30Four...
00:54:31One...
00:54:33One.
00:54:36Now sidestep, locking upper with the open hand, redirecting the force of the opponent,
00:54:53controlling the opponent.
00:54:54You are not grabbing this time.
00:54:57Very simple movement, coming to the outside, hand open.
00:55:04You must stay loose, relaxed and calm.
00:55:10Follow along with Master Han.
00:55:22These are the basics of Hapkido.
00:55:24You must master the basics.
00:55:26Build the foundation for the more advanced techniques to follow.
00:56:01Well, after the fact of his attacking, anything comes.
00:56:20And then we counter with various hand strikes.
00:56:35I will show you about five of the basics.
00:56:47One more.
00:56:49Two more.
00:57:07Okay.
00:57:11One more.
00:57:17Ah!

00:58:01Ice!
00:58:07Ice!
00:58:12Ah!
00:58:17I hope you enjoyed this lesson, and remember, in order to perfect each technique, you must practice every day.
00:58:40Hapkido techniques are extremely lethal, so you must exercise extreme coercion and control when training with your partner.
00:58:51And always remember, your Hapkido skills are never to be misused, and are only to be applied in a self-defense situation when there is absolutely no other means of escape.
00:59:06I wish you great success in your training, and look forward to seeing you on the next tape. Thank you.
