A 57-year-old Taiwanese scuba diver has died in western Japan on after an equipment failure. He was part of a volunteer group searching for the remains of 183 people who died in a 1942 undersea coal mine disaster.

00:00A Taiwanese scuba diver died in Japan on Saturday while on an international volunteer mission to salvage World War II-era remains.
00:0857-year-old Xu Wei lost consciousness and suffered convulsions after his diving equipment failed.
00:14Xu was pronounced dead at a hospital later that day.
00:17His volunteer group was diving in western Japan at a site of a 1942 undersea coal mine cave-in that killed 183 people, most of them Koreans.
00:27The dive group will pause dives this month in light of the incident.
