00:01Minister for Emergency Services Jiha Dib has been in Ballina all morning.
00:06He laid a reef earlier. His message was simple.
00:09It's about being present for those families that have been affected by this tragedy.
00:13He said the NSW Government will help fund to replace that new boat that was only a few months old.
00:19We're working with the Commissioner of course and he'll have more to say about this,
00:24but there will be obviously a replacement boat.
00:27And I know that he's got the team working on that, but that in itself will take some time.
00:32In the meantime there is an interim solution that's being worked on.
00:36The Government will provide the support that's required to make sure that this community is not lifted out of boat.
00:41Marine Rescue Ballina Unit Commander Peter Hill gave us an insight to what the two men who lost their lives
00:46were like.
00:47He said they were both hard workers and heroes and loved being out on the water in Ballina.
00:52The team here are still very much coming to terms with what took place on Monday night.
00:57Bill loved getting on the boat, training or on missions.
01:02You had to have a crowbar to get him off the boat.
01:05So he really, really loved it and we're going to miss him terribly.
01:08Frank was a yes man. If you needed anything done, Frank would say yes.
01:13He was a very strong man and it's hard to believe he's gone.
