Horbury MP consults families on social media impact

00:00A West Yorkshire MP recently held an event to hear local views on the impact of social media

00:07on young people. Jade Botterill, representing Osset and Denby Dale, invited children and

00:13parents to Holbury Methodist Church to discuss concerns about screen time, online safety,

00:19and the role that schools play in social media use. More than 235,000 people nationally have

00:26written to their MPs, calling for action after a government consultation on a possible social

00:31media ban for under-16s. Ms Botterill will share findings with the Department for Education

00:37and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology to help inform guidance and policies.
