Children across the West Midlands could face new limits on social media, as ministers consider tougher rules for under-sixteens. The government says action is needed to improve online safety, but it has not yet confirmed whether that will mean a full ban or more limited restrictions.

00:45looking up porn, they're looking up, it's not what it's meant for. Yes you can play a video
00:52game on there or whatever it is they do on there but they can abuse the system.
00:59Ministers say under-16s could face new restrictions on social media but a full ban has not yet
01:05been confirmed. The government is consulting on options including age limits, curfews,
01:11changes to addictive features and stronger age checks by platforms. The proposals follow
01:17concern about online safety, harmful content and the amount of time children spend on apps.
