00:00We have a phrase that we use to call to Aggies, wherever we may be, and it's referred and it's
00:09said affectionately, Aggie pride. Hi, my name is Maria Rogers and I'm so happy to be a part of
00:16this experience with you guys. I am a graduate of HBCU. I am alumni of the University of Maryland
00:24Eastern Shore. I would just like to shout out the illustrious Florida Agricultural and Mechanical
00:35University, 1887. If you want to tell me what you know about the Jackson State University, 1400 J. Ireland
00:46Street, that's me. Hey, that's me. Shout out to Jackson State University Tigers.
00:58I came of age during the, you know, the time of a different world and it had a profound impact on me
01:04and nearly everyone I know who was at a historically college during that time. And we were all trying
01:11to figure out if we were going to be Whitney or Jaleesa or we were going to meet DeWayne or any
01:16of these people. And it really brought to our attention the ways in which you can have this
01:21really special racial experience that you couldn't get other places. You can't hide that Spartan pride.
01:28Behold, the green and gold.
01:39Hey everybody, I'm Patrick Mara Paul. You see me on HBCU, Grace Madden, Scandal, and currently at
01:48Darcia Lancaster on Ambition. I am a proud HBCU graduate of the Jackson State University. I
02:01had the most amazing time. When I came here, when I came to Columbia, South Carolina from Florida,
02:10I was not going to college. I was riding with a friend whose family decided to bring me along
02:15because I was sleeping on their couch that week. And I got a whole college experience because of
02:22Benedict College and they took a chance on me. And so forever in my life, I will promote HBCUs.
02:29Forever in my life will I tell people that if you come from a low-income area or an area where
02:36that's very wealthy, you are not going to ever find an experience quite like an HBCU. It just feels like me.
02:42When you go to the HBCU, you have an extended family. When you go across the world, any city,
02:48any state, and there's someone else from the HBCU, it's like you just meeting family.
02:54I think trying to figure out what makes Norfolk State homecoming the greatest on the planet,
03:01because I just do. Hands down, I just believe it's the greatest. People might tell me differently,
03:05but I absolutely believe Norfolk State is the greatest homecoming. But to try and figure out exactly
03:10what it is, I think it's almost like saying, okay, I'm drinking a Pepsi or something. I'm saying,
03:16okay, what's the greatest ingredient inside the Pepsi? No, it's no one greatest ingredient. It's like
03:21everything that comes together to make it the greatest experience. And to all of my people over
03:26Brad Howard. HU, you know. All the HBCUs out there, I love y'all. I'm just waiting for one of y'all to invite me to homecoming.
03:38businesses, they're gonna meet homecoming.
03:38They'll, they're gonna meet homecoming.
