00:00Hello, I'm Angela Scanlon and welcome to The Apprentice Unfinished Business,
00:04the companion show that picks up exactly where Lord Sugar's pointy finger leaves off.
00:08I'll be joined each week by brilliant guests to dissect the tasks and get some business tips and insights too.
00:14We'll also bring you exclusive chats with the fired candidates.
00:18Now, a quick word of warning, if you haven't watched episode one of series 20,
00:22what are you doing frankly, but stop.
00:24Head over to iPlayer to catch up and save yourself from some very fiery spoilers.
00:30Coming up, to celebrate the launch of the 20th series, I'm joined by Apprentice superfan Richie Anderson
00:35and my brand new friend from when I did Celebrity Apprentices, have I mentioned it?
00:40Yeah, we won.
00:41Apprentice Royalty Mike Zootar is here too.
00:44And after a double firing, Georgina and Nicky will be here with The Apprentice Lowdown.
00:49So, boardroom doors unlocked, let's get into some unfinished business.
00:53Richie, Mike, welcome.
01:00Oh, thanks for having us.
01:01So excited to be here. The very first unfinished business, right?
01:05Thank you very much. Do my job for me, Mike. You'll be back.
01:09Honestly, I cannot quite believe that it is the 20th anniversary of The Apprentice.
01:14Things have changed a lot, let's be honest.
01:16Since the show started, there's been eight Prime Ministers since Lord Sugar started firing people.
01:21Eight!
01:22It was also pre-smartphone, pre-Instagram, pre-side hustle.
01:26It was basically a historical drama at this point.
01:29So, 20 years ago, Richie, what were you up to?
01:31So, 20 years ago, 2005, I don't know if I was born actually, Angela.
01:36I'm joking, obviously.
01:38What were you doing?
01:39I remember when The Apprentice first came on, the iconic orchestral theme tune.
01:45And because we didn't go and rush off to Instagram and TikTok and Facebook and all that.
01:49You weren't double screening.
01:50We were sitting there in the cafeteria at college talking about The Apprentice.
01:54Who are these new candidates in their suits, running around, Lord Sugar, back on television.
02:00And I just remember it was a great time when I had all my dreams laid out in front of me.
02:04Obviously, I was 18, so it was pre-braces.
02:07So, I had the big teeth, the glasses, the big...
02:09I looked like a Guess Who character.
02:10But it was a good time for me, you know what I mean?
02:12It was a great time.
02:13I was in Copenhagen at a full moon party topless.
02:16Okay.
02:17Yeah.
02:17That was me last week.
02:19Listen, if it works, it works.
02:21Mike, what were you up to?
02:23I remember The Apprentice starting.
02:25Back there, I was...
02:27At the time, I was on the board of Britain's biggest magazine publishers.
02:31I had the most cushy job you could possibly imagine.
02:34Did you?
02:35And The Apprentice did this amazing thing.
02:38I think alongside Dragon's Den, which came out in the same six-week period, it kind of transformed the way that people look at business.
02:47All of a sudden, people started to think in a more entrepreneurial way.
02:51Business wasn't a thing that just business people understood.
02:54And interesting fact here, within a year, I had left my cushy corporate job and started my own business.
03:01And do you think that was because of what you saw?
03:05I think that was a period where everybody began to think life could be more than just having a straightforward nine-to-five job.
03:13It really inspired so many people.
03:16And it's incredible, I think, to be sitting here 20 years on and to look at just how much it's changed.
03:22Yeah.
03:23And it did make business sexy.
03:25Yes.
03:25You know, it was like, oh, those characters, you started to understand the complexity and how glamorous, although, you know, the day-to-day.
03:33But listen, you think back then, right?
03:35You had people like Paul Teresi was in the first series, was a massive name.
03:40Yeah.
03:40Sayurna Khan.
03:41Tim Campbell.
03:42I mean, where is he now?
03:43I don't know.
03:44It didn't work out for him.
03:45He has not aged a day.
03:48Right.
03:49Episode one.
03:49Let's get into it.
03:51It did not mess about, did it?
03:52It was absolutely supersized.
03:55We had a double firing.
03:56We had Lord Sugar given at the 007 and an apprentice first, a boardroom out of London.
04:03Oh, yeah.
04:05And because it's 20 years, it wasn't just 18 candidates like usual.
04:09Lord Sugar dropped two more in, bringing us to a lovely round 20.
04:15And, I mean, what a bunch they are.
04:18We've got Ciaran, the a bit sexy estate agent.
04:21A bit.
04:23He's a low-key, humble kind of man.
04:24Roxanne, the chilli pepper pocket rocket.
04:26Try saying that after a few glasses.
04:28And Daniel, who made his first meal at 25, but kind of didn't.
04:33Yeah.
04:33Really.
04:34It's a big thing to say when I made my first million and then you find out that would turn over.
04:40Yeah.
04:40That's before costs.
04:41So, shall we talk about the profit?
04:43Oh, a profit of maybe a tenner?
04:45It doesn't matter.
04:46Sounds good on Instagram.
04:47Do you know what I mean?
04:48Times are changing.
04:50It's all fluff.
04:51Richie, who stood out?
04:53Well, every year when The Apprentice comes on, me and my family have like a apprentice sweepstake.
04:58So, we put all of the candidates into a hat.
05:00We put 50p in each and then we all draw out a name.
05:03So, I've got Ciaran this year.
05:04And also, because there's two extra candidates, it rounds up to 20 quid this year.
05:08No, a tenner?
05:09This is why I'll be bad on The Apprentice.
05:1050p each.
05:11Is that a tenner?
05:12It's a good few.
05:13A tenner.
05:13Who knows?
05:13I mean, look, have you got any room for any more people to join the sweepstake?
05:17Well, this is it.
05:18Because we were blindsided by the two new candidates, we do need two more.
05:21I'll give you 50p.
05:22Oh, there you go.
05:23You've got my 50 as well.
05:24I will have to take it away with me.
05:25So, I absolutely love Ciaran.
05:27I think he's brilliant.
05:28Do you love him or do you love him because you got him?
05:30I love him because I got him.
05:30Great.
05:31So, you know, I've got to back my boy.
05:32Yeah.
05:32But I'm loving Karishma.
05:34I mean, she's just fabulous.
05:36She's so fierce.
05:37And also, the way she was able to think on her feet with that negotiation.
05:42I love Conor.
05:43He is the ultimate, like, passenger seat driver.
05:45Oh, dear.
05:46And I feel like Ciaran was the PM, but Conor was the CEO on this challenge.
05:50Conor was 100% CEO.
05:53Mike.
05:53I really like Priyash.
05:55I just think he's got that kind of bubbly sense of enthusiasm that's going to get him through the process.
06:02Yes.
06:02Okay.
06:02Does he have killer instinct, though?
06:04Well.
06:05To me, he's like teddy bear material.
06:07I mean, I wonder whether he might toughen up.
06:10Well, let's talk about the specifics of this week's task.
06:13A fan favourite.
06:15Discount buying.
06:17The candidates were tasked with finding nine items for the very best price.
06:22Yes.
06:22In Hong Kong, it's my absolute favourite as well.
06:25Why do you think this is such a gem of a task?
06:28For me, the discount buying task in The Apprentice is like Blackpool to Strictly.
06:33You know what I mean?
06:34I feel like it's the one that all the candidates want to be involved in.
06:37And because it's the first task, they don't really know each other and their personalities.
06:40Yeah.
06:41So you're kind of thrown into the bear pit with this one.
06:43But it's almost like the discount buying aspect of this task was somewhat forgotten because they couldn't, like, find the things.
06:53So the actual negotiation was less of an issue in a way.
06:58But I think, you know, a task like this, it's a procurement task, right?
07:01So if you're in procurement, what you need to know is what's the spec of the product that you're trying to buy and how much are you willing to pay for it?
07:08And that is the basis then for all the negotiation.
07:11And it does feel like there was a, maybe that's like first week, you know, first task panic.
07:16You know, I think both sides struggled.
07:19Yeah.
07:19But I just think there was no, there was just no structure to follow with it.
07:23It was given supermarket sweep.
07:24It's as if they thought Hong Kong has got four walls.
07:27We're going to be contained and all we have to do is womble around and find these.
07:30But no, no, no.
07:31Also, it's, you know, Hong Kong is an extraordinary place.
07:34You know, it is the absolute center of commerce and deal making.
07:38But it's vast.
07:39Yeah.
07:40When they were looking at those maps in the brainstorming at the beginning, they're going, well, we'll start in the north and you guys start in the south.
07:46There are tens of miles between those things.
07:49The travel time that it takes between those.
07:52They just didn't grab the bull by the horns from the very beginning.
07:55If they'd started small, then maybe they could have managed to build up more items as they went along.
08:03But you know what?
08:03In their defense, I do think it's so hard when you are following an actual map.
08:08So last year when me and Dean, we went on a cruise.
08:10And before we got on the cruise.
08:11Are you saying you got lost on a boat?
08:13No, no, no.
08:14On a boat.
08:14Before we got on the cruise, we boarded the boat in Athens.
08:17Okay.
08:17So we had a couple of days in Athens.
08:19And I said, because it's a beautiful country, a beautiful city we've never been to, let's go around without our phones and just follow a map.
08:25And it's easy.
08:25Honestly, Mike, you're looking at me.
08:27It's easily done.
08:28You did it by choice.
08:29We were nearly in another part of Greece.
08:31Honestly, I was two hours late for the boat, nearly.
08:33I mean, I'm not investing.
08:36Let's talk about the winning team, the boys.
08:38Even though they won, they didn't exactly cover themselves in glory, did they?
08:42They were kind of like the least bad of the two teams, weren't they?
08:48Ultimately, Lord Sugar was completely unimpressed.
08:53Have you ever seen him so despondent?
08:57Week one, especially.
08:59I've never seen him so disappointed so early on.
09:03But listen, you know, if you're going to disappoint Lord Sugar, definitely don't make him fly 12 and a half hours to Hong Kong.
09:12Exactly.
09:12Especially not in economy.
09:13I mean, there's no leg room back there.
09:16And he's got long legs.
09:19Absolutely.
09:19Do you know what I mean?
09:21A little something special.
09:22Okay.
09:24I did a celebrity apprentice.
09:25I don't know whether I've mentioned it.
09:26I may have won or I may have not.
09:27Google it.
09:28Anyway, Lord Sugar has since followed me on Instagram.
09:32Big time.
09:33I know.
09:33And we've kicked it up a notch.
09:35He sent me a voice memo.
09:37No.
09:38Here's what he would have done differently.
09:40Oh, hang on.
09:41I play him at 1.5.
09:42Don't tell him.
09:43Please.
09:44Now, Angela, this is one of my favourite tasks because it should be ridiculously simple.
09:51Yet every year they make the same mistakes.
09:54Now, the first thing I'd do is don't panic.
09:58Read the paperwork I provide.
10:01All the clues are in there.
10:03And make sure at least one person can read a bloody map.
10:07The split, the list.
10:10Then you split the list.
10:12Get on the phone.
10:14Find an item.
10:15Have a clear destination.
10:18Don't assume.
10:19Running around like headless chickens gets you nowhere.
10:23Remember, don't be afraid to walk away from a bad deal.
10:28Just say no.
10:29Fair points.
10:30All of them.
10:31He's still fuming.
10:32Absolutely.
10:33Live it.
10:34Absolutely.
10:35He's like, 20 of you.
10:37One of you.
10:37Impress me.
10:39Yeah.
10:39I mean, I think he's spot on with it.
10:43The point he makes is you start with a plan.
10:46You start with a strategy and you go from there.
10:48OK, I think it is time that we meet our first candidate
10:53to face Lord Sugar's famous firing finger.
10:57Let us remind ourselves of that very moment.
11:00Yes, you put yourself forward as the project manager.
11:03Very brave.
11:04But you was two hours late and you only got one item
11:12and you were the overall project manager.
11:16Lord Sugar, can I ask you?
11:16No, you can't.
11:19And so it is with regret that you're fired.
11:24Thank you, Lord Sugar.
11:25I'm afraid you.
11:26It's Nicky, everybody.
11:35Welcome.
11:36It's so, so lovely to have you here.
11:38I'm sorry it's so soon, Nicky.
11:40I know, I know, I know.
11:41How was it watching the task back?
11:43That whole process is such a long...
11:45We were there for, like, almost a week.
11:47So for it to be condensed down into just one hour
11:50and it's the whole meeting Lord Sugar to begin with,
11:53flying out to Hong Kong, doing the task, the firing, everything.
11:57And then it's literally 60 minutes.
11:59It's crazy.
12:01But no, it was fun.
12:02We did have lots of fun doing it, so.
12:04It looked like you did not.
12:08I was stressed watching you.
12:10But you did put yourself forward for PM first task.
12:13A very, very brave move so early on.
12:17Looking back at that decision, do you stand over there?
12:21Are you happy with that?
12:23I went in saying I'm going to put myself out there straight away.
12:28Regardless of the task, I wanted to be bold and make a statement.
12:32And I just thought I could take control.
12:35I felt like we weren't really a team.
12:37Everyone was very much individual, paying for themselves.
12:41And I didn't know anyone's strengths either.
12:44But I did what I said I was going to do.
12:47And I said, I'm just going to go in and I'm going to be strong,
12:50put myself out there.
12:52Obviously, it didn't pay off.
12:54But I like the energy.
12:56You were like, I don't care what the task is, what skills are required of me.
12:59I'm going in.
13:00Kim Kardashian is an inspiration of yours.
13:03That feels quite Kim K.
13:04She's like acting sure.
13:06I'll do it.
13:07Billionaire, sign me up.
13:10Yeah.
13:10With like the whole Kim K thing, like, as in, I know she's got a lot of negative media and press.
13:15But if you look at her, she is a powerhouse.
13:18She's a mom.
13:19She's a billionaire.
13:19She's a businesswoman.
13:21She's got a law degree.
13:22Like she's got everything going on.
13:25So I look at her and think she is an inspiration.
13:27I'm a mom.
13:28I was like the only one on there with like two like really young kids as well.
13:33So, yeah.
13:34And again, it's that in itself is a challenge, you know, like leaving your kids.
13:39And again, they're so little.
13:40So it's a lot.
13:42It's a lot.
13:42Did the two kids enjoy watching you or did they understand it?
13:47They will see me on a screen.
13:49But again, they're still very little.
13:51So I don't think they'll fully understand like what I've gone away and done.
13:55But obviously now we're in this generation.
13:57I can record it.
13:58I can save it.
13:59I can show it to them later and just show like, you know, you can do it all.
14:03And also maybe what you can say to them is, you know, Lord Sugar points at the people he really likes.
14:11That's a beautiful way.
14:12I can tell them anything.
14:13I won.
14:14I was the winner.
14:16I think you should be so, so proud yourself.
14:20And I'm sure they will be too.
14:22I just wanted to go in and just show like, you know, being a mom isn't end of everything.
14:26You can still do everything.
14:27So that's why I just wanted to go in strong and lead everyone.
14:33Very inspiring.
14:34Did you kind of, do you think in retrospect, you missed out on the planning part of the task?
14:40Because it's all very well being brilliant and negotiating.
14:43Yeah.
14:43But unless you're actually in a position where you can show how good you are at negotiating, it's a bit difficult.
14:47It felt to me like the girls team were out there without really having an operational plan to go alongside the negotiation strategy.
14:56Yeah, definitely.
14:57I think when we was in like the brainstorm, we supposedly had this good idea.
15:02We thought we had mapped out the items and we said we can start in this location, you know, the heart, the sub team can start at that part of the island and we'll start at the other part of the island.
15:10And we felt like we had a really good, strong idea of where the items were.
15:15But it felt like you didn't really look at the information.
15:21Like there was quite a bit of information.
15:24You're like, shrimp paste, anyone, let's go looking for, you spent a lot of time looking for shrimp paste.
15:29So with the shrimp paste, tell me, Nikki.
15:31It's supposedly really common in Hong Kong.
15:35So it's like we could.
15:36Supposedly.
15:37Supposedly.
15:37Supposedly.
15:38We could get it anywhere.
15:40And it was an easy.
15:41Who said that?
15:42All the locals that said that.
15:44Everyone we spoke to said, oh, yep, shrimp paste, you know, like there's fish markets.
15:47They're known for fish that, you know, they like their seafood.
15:51So we thought it was an easy win.
15:53And the areas that we were in supposedly had shrimp paste, but we were just running around like headless chickens.
16:00We don't have anything.
16:01We don't have any phones.
16:02So we're just going with local knowledge, which obviously completely sent us down the wrong ways.
16:08But literally down the wrong way.
16:10Into a spot of trouble, actually.
16:13Let's have a look at this.
16:16Guys, I don't know.
16:18Keep going.
16:19There are guard dogs everywhere.
16:21Guys, where the hell are we going?
16:23I don't know.
16:24Guys, I'm scared.
16:25I don't deal well with dogs.
16:27I don't either.
16:28We think it's directly.
16:29I thought we'd lost you, Nicky.
16:31So did I.
16:32So did I.
16:33First ever.
16:3520 years in.
16:36Gone.
16:37Ravaged by wild dogs.
16:39You also lost your driver.
16:40I mean, that's a bit of me, to be fair.
16:42If I had one.
16:44You know.
16:44So with the driver scenario, every time we went somewhere and exited or left the shop, the driver was always there.
16:52This time, we went to a location, came back out and the driver wasn't there.
16:56It was the driver's fault.
16:57What was the first thing that popped into your head when you got to the top of the stairs in front of the Buddha?
17:01It was night time.
17:03Karen had gone home.
17:04Tim had gone home.
17:05The boys weren't there.
17:07What was the first thing you thought when you got to the top?
17:09We asked great.
17:11And you were right.
17:14OK.
17:15Nicky, thank you so much for being such a brilliant sport.
17:18We wish you the very best of luck in whatever is next for you.
17:21Nicky, everybody!
17:25Well, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for sub-team leader Georgie either.
17:30Let's remind ourselves of her firing.
17:32I think you're your own worst enemy.
17:36You come in here, you bring two people in and you say they shouldn't be here.
17:43And so you leave me nowhere to go.
17:47So, Georgina, regretfully, you're fired.
17:51Thank you, Lodger Girl.
17:53Thank you very much, Reggie.
17:54Thank you, Tim.
17:54Georgie!
18:03Yay!
18:04Lovely to have you here.
18:06That's you.
18:07You are way too nice for business.
18:09Karen said that you were a little emotional.
18:12But you didn't come to play.
18:14You went straight in for PM and ended as sub-team leader.
18:17Exactly.
18:18That's, you know, punchy.
18:19Yeah, I don't think I'm too nice.
18:21I think kindness is, you know, it's cool to be kind, right?
18:24I don't think kindness is weakness at all.
18:26And I definitely think everybody thought that was the case.
18:28But, you know, maybe everyone's opinion of what a businesswoman should be is wrong.
18:34Should change.
18:34Should change.
18:35And it's not me.
18:36I felt like you were the ultimate hype girl.
18:39Yeah.
18:39The ultimate hype girl.
18:40You're passionate.
18:41You're beautiful.
18:42You're brilliant.
18:42You're powerful women.
18:44I was like, that's the kind of woman you want to wake up with in your head.
18:47Well, there you go.
18:48You know?
18:48I loved it.
18:49What went wrong?
18:51Well, what didn't go wrong?
18:52No, I don't know.
18:54I think I put myself forward to BPM, obviously.
18:56And I was really looking forward to doing that because I, you know, I don't know.
19:00I didn't necessarily know exactly what we were going to do, but I do feel like I'm a good
19:03leader and I'm good at bringing people together, you know, and we could have all used our heads
19:07to find out the answers for it.
19:09And I don't know.
19:10I just think, yeah, they didn't believe in me from the get, which is fine.
19:13It is fine.
19:13It happens.
19:14Well, I think that we have got to go straight to one of the most memorable moments of the
19:20entire task where you performed a little jingle on the spot for a Marjong set.
19:24Now, I have form in the jingle space, if you saw the celebrity version.
19:31Gary the Penguin.
19:31If I say Gary the Penguin, what do you say?
19:35Gary the Penguin.
19:36Do-do-do-do-do.
19:38Gary the Penguin.
19:39Do-do-do-do.
19:40Gary the Penguin.
19:42Do-do-do-do-do.
19:43You're holding me hanging, Georgie.
19:44Do-do-do-do-do.
19:46Limp.
19:47I was duping.
19:47Let's remind ourselves.
19:49Okay.
19:49Are you ready?
19:51And five, six, seven.
19:53Global Mahjong is where it begun.
19:56Global the media is Global Mahjong.
19:59Global Mahjong is where it began.
20:03The leader of the media, Global Mahjong.
20:08I'm so good.
20:11I honestly was shouting at the screen when I saw you go, five, six, seven, eight.
20:17Oh, it was supreme.
20:20It was described as an incredible bespoke one in a million tagline.
20:24So your hype girl was kind of, you know, that was bleeding out into the rest of the group.
20:29But was having an effect.
20:31Yeah, definitely.
20:32I was buzzing when Karishma said, hey, Georgie's going to sing you a song.
20:36I was like, let's go.
20:37Yeah, no, that was really fun.
20:39And it was a great song.
20:40Can I just say, on Radio 2, when people put out a new song, all new songs out, get straight to the hook.
20:46Straight to the point.
20:46And you did that.
20:47There was no build-up.
20:48There was no bridge.
20:49It's a hit.
20:50It is an absolute banger.
20:53It's Richie's Record of the Week.
20:54It is.
20:55There we go.
20:56I was surprised that that woman was like, I'll give you 10%.
21:03Like, 10% is a student discount.
21:05Do you know what I mean?
21:05You have that button by default.
21:07Anyone can press that.
21:08She's like, I'll give you 10%.
21:09Dance for your supper.
21:11She was my own song hero.
21:12Anyone that stood out for you guys.
21:14I love the lady in Chunky Stationery, the one who sold the pineapple paper, but it wasn't the pineapple paper they wanted.
21:22Because she thought, okay, you're offering me this money.
21:25I mean, you're paying well over the odds for that.
21:27You take it away.
21:28I mean, she could have stepped in and said, that's not exactly what you need.
21:30But she's a savvy business.
21:31She should be getting the investment off Lord Sugar.
21:34You know what I mean?
21:35So you respected the ruthless dagger approach.
21:38She closed up when they left the shop because she made the day's profit.
21:41You know what I mean?
21:43Yeah.
21:44What about you, Mike?
21:45Anyone who stood out?
21:46Well, listen, I mean, not a candidate, but I really loved the Air Who guy.
21:54They'd bought it.
21:56They'd got a decent deal.
21:57Pressure got a really decent deal.
21:59And then they stood there for the best part of half an hour as this guy retuned an instrument they were never going to use.
22:06And they were just all so awkward and polite.
22:08I mean, if I was there, I'd have picked the guy up with the Air Who and taken him into the cab.
22:16Would you really, though, Mike?
22:17Because I think your manners are also impeccable.
22:19It was this kind of do-do-do-do-do.
22:21It was like time slowed down and they were all twiddling their thumbs and they did attempt to interject a couple of times.
22:27But he was like in a meditative zone.
22:30I think you have to find a way to be able to intervene in a situation in a way that doesn't offend people, but does remind them that you are on a very, very strict deadline.
22:41Now, you didn't get an Air Who.
22:42No, I didn't know what it was.
22:44So did you think, Nikki, bring back your guys.
22:46You were like, oh, phew, starting to melt slightly.
22:49A little bit, yeah.
22:49Like, I was fully expecting them to be like, OK, Georgie's coming back.
22:53Cool, I'm aware of that.
22:53OK.
22:54And then Nikki would bring back one of her guys and then they would squabble together and then I would just charm Lord Sugar.
22:59OK.
23:00And get the stay, you know.
23:01That's what I thought was going to happen and it did not go the way that I'd hoped.
23:04I didn't really see you say the reason you shouldn't be getting rid of me is bang, bang and bang.
23:10That is a regret because I was so focused on trying not to upset the girls that were next to me, right?
23:14I was so focused on them and their feelings and their future and their businesses and everything.
23:18I wasn't thinking about me.
23:19And in hindsight, who would you have nailed?
23:22Oh, that's mean.
23:24Do you know what?
23:24The only reason...
23:26You're so lovely.
23:27Tell us.
23:29I just think I needed a lot of help with figuring out where we were and what we were doing.
23:33And I think had we have got to the Majon place quicker, we would have had time to get the tea cake because we knew where that was.
23:38And that was next on the list.
23:40We would have had time to get that.
23:41Then we would have had two products and it wouldn't have been so bad.
23:43So maybe a bit more help from all of them with directions.
23:47You did so much.
23:48You did.
23:49Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
23:51Go on.
23:51I think that's all right.
23:53Direct question.
23:54Who would you have got rid of?
23:56Do you not think that's quite clever that I skirted all the way around that without giving you?
24:00Not if everybody in the room notices.
24:02Nobody did but you.
24:04You're throwing me under the bus now.
24:05Go on.
24:05Who?
24:06Carrington.
24:07Done.
24:08But it's hindsight.
24:09Hindsight.
24:10But she still did a great job.
24:11She got so much better.
24:12Oh, stop.
24:12You fired her.
24:13You fired her.
24:14I do think there was a bit of that.
24:16You attempted to make phone calls.
24:18You were actually like very proactive.
24:20And it did feel sometimes like you may have actually done better had you dropped a bit
24:25of dead weight and pelted up the hill on your own.
24:27This sounds really harsh.
24:28But yeah, if I'd have just done it on my own, I think it would have been a more successful
24:32day.
24:33Yeah.
24:33But it's all right.
24:35And Karishma.
24:35And Karishma, yeah.
24:36Karishma took all the credit.
24:38She did.
24:39Because obviously it was her idea for you to do the song.
24:41But you came up with the song.
24:43Yeah.
24:43I mean, some of the others in the background, I'm not being funny, were just clapping along.
24:46They weren't really singing.
24:48I felt like you should have really owned that.
24:50And you were sat next to Roxanne, who didn't really contribute as much.
24:53I know.
24:54Guys, it is a lot.
24:55There's a lot of.
24:56Now, do you know what?
24:57It's happened.
24:57Unfinished business.
24:58Unfinished business.
24:58Unfinished business.
24:59Oh my gosh.
25:00Couldn't write it.
25:01Now, I have set my guests their own task this week.
25:06Don't look so surprised.
25:08They've picked the song that they think best represents how they feel the task went in
25:15something I like to call boardroom bangers.
25:17Oh.
25:18I know.
25:18It's good.
25:19Mike, what have you gone for?
25:21I've picked something that I think sums up the almost impossibility of that final run
25:28up the steps.
25:28I've picked this.
25:33Yes.
25:36Highway to hell.
25:38Oh, it's good.
25:40Richie, how about you?
25:41Well, I'm going to go back to the mid-2000s when The Apprentice first popped onto our screens
25:46and I've gone for this.
25:49And that's in tribute to the runaway driver who made Nicky's team nearly, we thought it was
26:04two hours, nearly three hours late.
26:05I mean, where was he?
26:07Come on.
26:07Where was he?
26:08I love the sentiment, but I feel like he did shut up and drive just with nobody in the
26:12back of the car.
26:13That was the problem, Angela.
26:14OK, first task is over and we saw at the very end of the episode that the next task is
26:21going to be children's books.
26:24I've actually got an exclusive clip right here.
26:27I would also just like to make a point.
26:30I was actually counting the pages and we've missed like two or three of the pages out
26:34of the book.
26:36You didn't want to mention that earlier on, was it?
26:38Because, you know, this is exactly why earlier on I said we should be numbering the pages
26:44so we're keeping on track.
26:46No.
26:47Tim's face.
26:48Oh, Tim's over it.
26:49He's absolutely livid.
26:51How would you approach this task, Mike?
26:54Oh, I think if you're going to go into publishing, you need to be very clear that the product
27:01is the most important thing.
27:02So a great book will sell itself.
27:05If you're going to produce a book and the pages are, say, in the wrong order or missing,
27:10that's not a promising start.
27:13Oh, what a treat.
27:15Thank you so much, gang.
27:16That was absolutely wonderful.
27:18Best of luck, Georgie.
27:19With whatever you do, I'm sure we'll be seeing lots more of you.
27:22Thank you for having me.
27:24Thank you, everyone.
27:27Thank you to our fired candidates, Nicky and Georgie, and of course to Richie Anderson
27:31and Mike Zutar for all their insight and opinion.
27:36And if you think you have what it takes to be Lord Sugar's next business partner,
27:41applications are still open for Series 21.
27:43For more details, head over to bbc.co.uk forward slash apprentice
