00:00Ok, babe, you have the right hand. Let's see if I can pull this one off.
00:13Ok, an icon, a Broadway icon, and fearless trailblazer takes center stage.
00:18Tova opens the Boca International Jewel Film Festival tonight,
00:22celebrating the life and legacy of legendary actress Tova Felchou.
00:26Today I welcome the incredible Tova and the director and producer of the documentary, David.
00:32Thank you so much for being on the show.
00:34Wonderful to be here.
00:35Tova, wow, I'm like, I'm going to give you my flowers to you.
00:38Because what you have done for the Women Empowerment, for everything you've done in this platform is incredible.
00:44Now you're doing a documentary, you're presenting a documentary tonight in our community.
00:47How does it feel to have a documentary about you?
00:51When David Serraro, my dear friend and marvelous artist, came to me and said,
00:55we want to do a documentary about you.
00:57I said, are you talking to me?
01:00I looked over my shoulder.
01:02So it's a thrill.
01:04I'm a mother.
01:05I'm a grandmother of five.
01:06And at this stage of my life, though I hope to live to 104, my mother lived to over 103,
01:12you are concerned as much with legacy as you are with achievement.
01:15And it's important to leave the world a better place for having lived in it.
01:20And I hope this is what the documentary says because of the Felchew Fund for Women's Health,
01:25for everybody in the entertainment community that I founded for early detection of all reproductive cancers in women,
01:31and for the Felchew Broadway Ticket Fund, which I established at my college, Sarah Lawrence College,
01:36to take those kids to ballet and opera and Broadway and off-Broadway for free
01:40so that they have cultural live experiences, as opposed to all of us always making love with our cell phones.
01:46Oh, that's incredible.
01:48Yeah, very important.
01:49And, David, this collaboration, you know, this is incredible work.
01:52It's hard to do a documentary, but how was that like doing this together?
01:56Absolutely.
01:57Well, first of all, Maren, thank you so much for the opportunity.
01:59Well, you know, Tova, as soon as I can remember when I moved to the United States,
02:04Tova was one of the first names that comes out when it's about Broadway royalty.
02:08You know, she's not just one of the greatest craft women into, you know, the fact of making great roles,
02:16but she's also a role model, and that's why we wanted to show that evolution that she brought to Broadway,
02:22all the great contribution that she brought to her craft, but also the signature of her roles.
02:28And tonight to bring, as you said, at the Boca Jewish Dream Festival,
02:32and I thank Leslie Rich and Wendy Honing for that opportunity is extraordinary
02:36because a lot of the young women, they have to learn who Tova is
02:42because she really opened the doors and opened the path for so many young, aspiring,
02:48not just actresses, but also actors.
02:50They're wrapping me up, but I hope we had more hours and more time to talk.
02:53Come to the Boca Jewish Film Festival tonight at 7.30.
02:57I'm going to look gorgeous.
02:58You are gorgeous right now, Tova.
03:00Well, thank you so much for being on the show.
03:01Thank you for having us.
03:02Good luck with the documentary.
03:03Good luck tonight.
03:04Thank you so much for being here.
03:05Thank you, Mary.
03:05Thank you.
