00:00Lucy Letby is back in the news once more.
00:02The former neonatal nurse was convicted in 2023
00:06for murdering seven babies at the hospital where she worked
00:08and attempting to murder seven more.
00:10She's currently serving 15 consecutive life sentences in prison
00:14but that hasn't stopped people from speculating about whether or not she actually did it.
00:18Now the investigation of Lucy Letby is revealing even more about the case.
00:22The documentary has gained access to brand new interviewees and footage
00:26including an interview with one of the mothers of the babies Letby murdered
00:29who talks about seeing Letby with the clipboard in the ward watching us.
00:33We also see fresh footage of Letby's three arrests
00:36and even letters that she wrote to her best friend from prison
00:39where she talked about having a room and toilet of her own,
00:42getting to go out for walks and missing her cats.
00:45There's also Letby's own views that we get to hear about
00:48regarding the infamous post-it note that was found in her house after her arrest
00:52in which she apparently confessed to the killings
00:54including words like I'm evil, I did this and murderer.
00:58So does it tell us much?
01:01Certainly it leaves us back where we started
01:03and none the wiser in terms of whether Letby is guilty or innocent.
01:07The documentary doesn't seem willing to ask any of the hard questions
01:09and ultimately shies away from it.
01:12What also doesn't help is its decision to anonymise some of its interviewees using AI.
01:16Ultimately the documentary feels slightly misjudged
01:18and feels like it's come out slightly too soon.
01:21Coming just a few years after the case
01:23it feels like it's reopening wounds that are still too fresh
01:25although that doubtless won't harm Netflix's viewing figures.
01:29It seems we're still as obsessed with Lucy Letby as ever.
