00:00Hey naturally curly world, I'm Cara. Today I'm doing a watch and go where we review things and do our hair. Today I'm doing Shameless.
00:08She's walking in France!
00:10Suffer the little children to come to me.
00:12Here it is St. Francis.
00:15Monica died and then we put her in the ground.
00:19And if you come anywhere near my family, I'll bury you with her.
00:23These are the products I'm using today. I will be starting with the Curly Hair Solutions Spray Bottle.
00:32A Mika Nice Cream Cleansing Conditioner with Sea Buckthorn and Berry.
00:38And this product, it's a deep conditioner from Carmella Murray.
00:43And one of my go-tos is the Eden Body Works All Natural Hair Milk in Peppermint and Tea Tree.
00:50And then this new one that has just really pretty packaging.
00:53Um, AG Hair Care Rose Hip Balm.
00:56Uh, it's a hair drying lotion I guess.
00:58I've never used something like that.
00:59And then Carol's Daughter Percacy Nectar Style Control Gel.
01:03So I'm gonna go wash my hair with this cleansing conditioner and then deep condition afterward and I'll be right back.
01:12So I just washed and deep conditioned my hair and now I'm going to detangle and tell you about Shameless.
01:18So Shameless is a dramatic comedy about an Irish family in Chicago.
01:23They cover a lot of issues, social issues, specifically substance abuse is a huge topic, bad parenting, bad relationships.
01:34Basically just being really bad at life but kind of just trudging through it, sticking to it.
01:40So the Gallaghers are the main family and they are a lower income family in Chicago.
01:47The patriarch of the family is Frank Gallagher.
01:49He's basically a huge piece of shit.
01:51Mostly you see him there when he is passed out drunk and that's the biggest times like that his character is involved.
02:00Although he does have a lot of gems.
02:02He's played by William H. Macy who's just brilliantly cast.
02:07Okay I'm gonna put this leave-in in my hair and start detangling.
02:11So Frank he's like this really intelligent guy but he doesn't use it for more than just like scraping by in life.
02:21And he basically hates the government so he never wants to have a legit job.
02:27He's basically just trying to work the system.
02:29Then he has a bunch of children.
02:31The oldest is Fiona.
02:33She dropped out of high school when she was like 16 to take care of the kids.
02:37I'm guessing she took care of them for most of her life.
02:41She comes off like a brat a lot of times and you see her and you kind of just like hate her character.
02:46But then at the same time like I'm thinking I mean would I be different in this situation?
02:52I really doubt it.
02:53Then there is Lip who is the first the oldest son and he is pretty much a genius.
03:01Like you think he's gonna be the one that gets out of this lifestyle.
03:06And then there's Ian one of the red-headed kids.
03:09He is dating Mickey who is a neighbor kid who Mickey his father.
03:16He is just this very conservative man who if he found out that Mickey was gay he would probably kill him.
03:25But that's who Ian is dating and they're just in a very genuine relationship.
03:30It's just a cool relationship to watch just cause you don't see that on TV I don't think a lot.
03:36The next child in the chronology of Frank's kids is Debbie.
03:41She has very American ideals about family and she dreams about having probably 10 babies and having a house with a picket fence and a great husband.
03:54That is not her reality and she never really seems to notice that.
03:59One of my favorite kids is Carl.
04:01Carl you meet him when he is like 8 or something.
04:05He just is such an innocent child but you know that he's going to be a terrible adult.
04:11You see him drinking when he's like 8 years old.
04:15And then there's this other kid Liam who is the youngest.
04:18Frank is white and his wife is white.
04:23And then this kid looks black or at least mixed race.
04:27And so it was a big question but then they have a paternity test and it turns out that Frank is the father I believe.
04:34He's just basically the cutest little thing ever.
04:37He doesn't really speak at all but problems come up with him.
04:41I'm going to put in this rose hip balm and then blow dry my hair a little bit.
04:53So I just diffuse it a little bit but I'm going to put in this gel before it's entirely dry and then keep diffusing it a little bit more.
05:10So my hair is a little damp still but I'm going to let it air dry and keep talking you guys.
05:15One of the main characters is Monica who is Frank's wife, the mother of all the children.
05:21She is bipolar and basically never there.
05:26But when she is there she comes and she is this loving character who is really sad about having been absent.
05:34But at the same time she does not have the means to take care of these people mentally or financially.
05:43So she just kind of goes in and out of their lives a lot.
05:47But she has the best intentions.
05:49So basically the show is about the family and how they interact, how they barely get by somehow.
05:56They are in financial crisis all the time but then when they're needing to pay somebody $10,000 they can come up with it in three days.
06:05The character development is just so rich in this show.
06:09It's more relatable to me not that I'm like low income at all but just kind of the dynamics that happen and how you can hate your siblings but you also love them.
06:19I would rate this show at least like a 4.7 to 4.9 out of 5 you know there's some chips on their shoulder.
06:29They're not exactly perfect but at the same time I love it and I definitely am going to watch season 8.
06:36I'm excited to watch it.
06:37Seasons 1-7 are on Netflix but season 8 won't be on Netflix for like 9 months so I might you know binge and get a Showtime subscription for like a month or two to watch this show.
