00:00The internet-driven natural hair movement is now old enough that some of our favorite
00:05YouTubers are now mommies and they're teaching their children how to embrace their natural hair.
00:10We want to learn all about this new generation of natural hair acceptance.
00:14What products do they use? Do their wash days look different than ours did growing up?
00:19So in this video we teamed up with YouTuber and blogger Janelle B. Stewart and her daughter Elle
00:24to take you behind the scenes of a toddler's wash day.
00:28Because nothing makes you want to switch up your routine more
00:31than seeing a baby with a better braid out than you.
00:38I don't know how to eat curly hair. Come on in!
00:46My name is Elle. I'm two years old. I love my hair because it's curly.
00:52You like my hair less once a must. First we retangle my hair with conditioner.
01:01We detangle my hair first so that it doesn't hurt.
01:05My mommy space my hair with less of water.
01:13My mommy uses a layer of conditioner.
01:17I'm supposed to use her fingers to detangle my hair.
01:24Then she uses a wide tooth comb.
01:33Then she puts my hair on the chest.
01:38Then I want me to do my hair.
01:40I go to my egg pan.
01:41I make a new tooth.
01:45Detangling beforehand is a lot more comfortable for her because she can sit on the counter.
01:50She can use the iPad. Whereas when we use to detangle in the bathtub, she can't do any of those things.
01:57We're done to detangle my hair. Look at this.
02:04Now we're going to shampoo.
02:06Because her hair is already twisted, shampooing and conditioning is so much faster.
02:13So that's why we do it this way.
02:14When I wash my hair, I like to say wheels on the bus.
02:19Wheels on the bus.
02:21The wheels on the bus go round and round all through the town.
02:30Look at example number two.
02:32The wheels on the bus go round and round all through the town.
02:39You're not able to to make it lots of problems.
02:40It's too hot.
02:46Okay.
02:49I don't think it will hurt.
02:51No, no, no.
02:58Okay.
03:04chcia不是,
03:05Secretary candy Siemple.
03:07I'mывать hmm!
03:08Here's a little bit of moisturizer for you, good job, you did great, now I'm going to
03:34do my Elsa braid.
03:36So for the Elsa braid, we're just going to take all of Elle's hair and we're going to
03:42put it in one cornrow to the side like this.
03:53Do we want to put a barrette in it?
03:56No? Okay, that's fine.
03:58This is my Elsa braid and I love it because it's not silly.
04:08Because it's what?
04:09Not silly.
04:10It's not silly?
04:11No.
04:12What did you say?
04:13Not silly.
04:14Naturally?
04:15Yeah.
04:16Oh, because it's naturally.
04:18Oh, that's nice.
04:19Bye, naturally curly hair.
04:21Bye.
04:22Oh, bye.
04:23Adorable.
04:24I was scrolling through Elle's Instagram the other day.
04:31Yes, Elle has an Instagram and I had to check myself because I was experiencing just a tinge
04:37of natural hair envy.
04:38Thanks, Elle, for sharing your wash day with us and Mom for making that happen.
