00:06Movement 200, an uprising led by Hugo Chávez against attempts to implement IMF austerity

00:12Although the rebellion was crushed, it launched Chávez into the national spotlight, leading
00:17to his election as president seven years later.
00:20Today, February 4th is celebrated across Venezuela as the beginning of the country's transformation
00:25towards socialism.
00:26Let's see more with our correspondent Brian Muir.
00:33On February 4th, a huge crowd came out to the streets of Maracayo to remember the Bolivarian
00:39Revolutionary Movement 200, a rebellion led by a young army officer named Hugo Chávez in
00:451992 against an attempt to implement IMF austerity cuts.
00:50The rebellion was crushed, but seven years later Chávez was elected president.
00:55Today the day is celebrated across the country as the start of Venezuela's transformation
01:00towards socialism.
01:03Today is very important because, as you can see, here are the people in the streets.
01:10The people remember Chávez.
01:11He is the guide.
01:12It was his leadership and it's his legacy, but also it is his revolution.
01:17And we will always come out every February 4th to remember the commander and remind the
01:22world why these people rose up.
01:25In a crowd that filled an entire four-lane road for two kilometers, social movement and
01:32labor union members sang songs, called for freedom for President Nicolás Maduro and First
01:37Lady Celia Flores, who were kidnapped by the U.S. government on January 3rd, and showed their
01:42support for acting President Delce Rodriguez.
01:45We remain in the streets demanding the return of the first combatant, Celia Flores, and our
01:53commander president, Nicolás Maduro, the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
01:59We, the revolutionary government, remain deployed.
02:03We will not tire until the world understands that Nicolás Maduro is our president.
02:11For the second day in a row, huge crowds came out on the streets of Venezuela, showing the
02:15world that the Bolivarian Revolution is still alive and well.
02:22We are on the streets, standing in struggle, arms wide open, with love and abundant love.
02:28The call for freedom for President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Celia Flores continues to
02:34grow on the streets of towns and cities across Venezuela.
