00:00did yes i read the monday that's good perfect so in this case uh let's see what we have here so
00:11we have this lesson right here so that we can analyze a little bit more of this vocabulary
00:18here which is communication goals leave and take a message check into a hotel request
00:25housekeeping services and choose a hotel this is a very uh useful lesson because it's a service
00:32that we may commonly need uh depending on the situation that we're in you know sometimes
00:39we may have the necessity to go abroad to travel or for some reason we are not um we are not warned
00:47or um we are not told that we are supposed to travel and suddenly we have to take the decision
00:53from one day to another and that's complicated so in this case uh david is your profession uh is your
01:01profession one of those where you have to where you have to make travels unexpectedly
01:10uh it's part of the profession to meet some some things like this
01:17uh but not like my my job it's not your job okay excellent but for example let's say that you are
01:27uh in christmas holidays you know and suddenly you receive a call from the office and they tell you you
01:33know what tomorrow there's a trip to to another country to colombia to spain to any other place
01:40and we have to do it right away it's uh have you ever lived the situation like that
01:50uh no teacher actually i work in sales like a sales person but in a company yeah it's things for
01:59how it turns a retail retail like yes like a retail i have like a like a retail like a customer service
02:07like all all that that we're doing in in an office basically okay excellent very good so is it common
02:17for you to travel like a couple times say in a couple months or how often would you say that you
02:25that you travel in your job because there are some professions where you don't travel at all
02:30huh well yes of course uh once per month kind of uh-huh okay excellent very good do you usually travel
02:39around the country or do you have to go abroad groups what what broad means means like abroad
02:51no in into the country into the country and between states different states or different cities
03:00uh that's only me my travels okay in the country excellent very good so that's uh that's the point
03:06well that's that gives you an advantage you know it's not too hectic it's not so unplanned so we have
03:15like different options here so uh do you like to travel because there are some people that that don't
03:22you know i mean do you like to travel and the question would be better explain if i asked would you
03:28uh do you like to travel unexpectedly you know without further planning
03:37well actually i prefer at the beginning it was a good option i have the opportunity to travel
03:44but then um part of the time it was very very um exhausting exhausting exhausting yes correct
03:57no way very close now yes because we have to move and i don't know i have to drive in around eight hours
04:06hours uh sometimes uh maybe less but um probably average uh kind of uh five hours but for each
04:18yes for each visit to another city so yes i like it but uh not not too much right now i prefer
04:30when when when i have to travel only in this in a small distance
04:38in a short distance so what do you usually do when you feel like uh really exhausted and you have to
04:45travel do you have any particular tips or a routine that you may say you know what whenever i do this
04:51i feel that the trip feels uh a lot lighter and not too heavy so what are some tips that you could tell me
05:02when you feel extremely exhausted at the moment of of an unexpected travel
05:08well in my case sometimes i have to parking in any place i rest i close my eyes maybe
05:2415 minutes only to take a rest drink one coffee and then following
05:31um on the travel uh on the travel uh but normally i prefer to to travel if i have the opportunity to
05:41travel in in plane uh i i took that opportunity but if is necessary only in car well it's only drink coffee
05:54uh make some parking or uh paradas i don't know stop uh driving some skills yes and then following with my with my way
06:10okay okay well that's that's the point well it is necessary to be to be preparing these aspects
06:17excellent excellent very good so in this case we have staying in hotels checking to a hotel
06:24so whenever you travel do you have some friends in in these places where you go to or
06:29is it common for you to like to check into a hotel david
06:34it's common to do a check-in in hotel yes okay in a hotel are these hotels expensive or affordable
06:50us are affordable affordable are economic hotels uh for companies they have uh some deals with the
07:00hotels and we have a preferential uh and payment uh tariff uh so it's not expensive okay it's not expensive
07:14so did you ever have a bad experience in a particular hotel that you that you checked in
07:21well uh i remember once time uh when i went to uh uh for guadalajara like a packet oh yeah
07:40those were like very close to towns you know i mean before they were to be a little bit separated
07:46but now it's with the train they are really close you know so it's like you're visiting like the same
07:52city the same place although those two different places you know yes yes i agree at like a packet
08:00el salto guadalajara zapopan all all the city uh but in particular in one hotel close uh from the airport
08:09uh only the only the only the only um the only point there was uh the bed it uh la savana i don't
08:21remember how to say savana's but like the uh the blankets black it thank you the blankets um were um
08:30um uh dirty or guilty a little bit dirty and that's only uh
08:43yes i remember it was only that okay excellent experience did you ever have the chance to travel
08:50like uh on a ship on boat like uh in the ocean because i've i've known of some people few people
08:57you know some some relatives that have told me that they have actually traveled my uncle had a
09:03chance to travel on a ship one day and he mentioned that it's quite an experience you know that he felt
09:10extremely dizzy most of the time so have you ever had uh have you ever had this experience
09:17no teacher i didn't know yet i have no experience uh to travel in a ship but um i think could be a
09:29great experience but i also i know it's very expensive it's expensive yes it's expensive and
09:37it could be quite quite an experience however uh well i think it could be uh dangerous a little bit you
09:45know but uh it's uh because well it's something a little bit more unusual most of the people prefer
09:51to take a plane you know to board on a plane or to to board on a train perhaps you know trains are
09:58becoming uh popular again especially here in our country where the president uh built uh different
10:06trains you know so that's uh that not not too many weeks ago there was an accident with one of the
10:13trains right did you see that yes i remember sure and three weeks and one month ago yes that's really
10:21uh severe right there um did you know anything about it i mean like what happened in that moment and uh
10:29if it was uh like um a severe outcome with the people that were injured or i've heard that some people
10:38even passed away right so what did you know about that well i remember it was a horrible accident um
10:49it's not the train yeah it's another one i don't remember what is but i remember the same interoceanical
10:58right right that's not interoceanic that's that's the point yeah interesting okay as it is it it was very
11:08terrifying terrifying uh uh i remember a lot of uh people the first in this accident uh the government uh
11:23uh dude of the driver uh on the chauffeur uh the driver of the plane but in my opinion uh i i may i i
11:38don't know but um the most part of the country think that it was a negligence i don't know
11:45know negligence yeah negligence uh from the world right yes yeah well i've heard that too you know
11:58there's a lot of people who are claiming uh bad and it's uh well it's quite interesting to analyze
12:04because you say well i i suppose that the government invested a lot of money on that you know invested
12:11quite a lot of money quite a good amount of money and in the beginning you know what at the beginning
12:16i thought that it was like uh i trained to trade merchandise or to train uh some kind of product but
12:24then i realized that it was for passengers right it was for people it was for passengers and and it
12:31actually looked uh well according to the video some pictures that i saw it looked really uh advanced
12:38and technological that's really strange yes i agree i agree teacher it's very strange right so yes
12:50i think because it's really curious you know it's really curious that the opposition and the
12:55government are trying like to uh unstabilize the situation in the country uh i mean here in guadalajara
13:02we have had uh we have had many um like uh encounters with the drug cartels in the middle of the street and
13:12they start shooting and there are some uh injured people and there are some accidents around the city
13:20if i'm not mistaken there was like a businessman well the the the news mentioned that it was a businessman
13:26who was killed by the uh by the criminal cartels and um and and well a lot of people is in fear you
13:36know a lot of people is in fear a lot of people feel afraid because they say you know what i wouldn't
13:40like to go out with my children and to uh to find uh myself or to to come across to one of these situations
13:49that are rather dangerous for for um well for for your life you know for your uh social stability
13:57and but i think it's those are so many events occurring in different points of the country
14:04almost at the same time you know with difference uh with difference between one or two weeks or
14:10or five or six days and then you have another one and boom there is another another aspect that comes out
14:17uh on the news and uh i think it's part of the opposition you know what do you think yes could be a good
14:24at a good point part of opposition uh they have the opportunity to to indulge um the government and
14:32other things when when this situation happens yes could be a a good point but i don't know it's
14:41it's with all things that i happen in around the world it was not only mexico i remember two weeks ago
14:56also a similar situation happens in happened in um spain also it was a train
15:08an accident train uh i don't know yeah it's it's not common in these times but um it's happening right
15:20now yeah in different places it has happened in different places i mean spain it's also experiencing
15:27so many uh issues uh and well we we can we can see that uh the the chaos that people are living in
15:38in the united states you know i mean all of the situation with the eyes and so on um i don't remember
15:45any other time in throughout all of these years where traveling actually the topic that we're discussing
15:52today you know where traveling uh was so difficult you know was so difficult especially for the risk
16:02that it could actually represent i mean not many years ago like two or three years ago if i'm not
16:07mistaken there was like uh do you remember that there was like this kind of uh this kind of uh an attack
16:16in israel and uh supposed that supposed uh that it was done by by uh by palestinian groups and uh and
16:27some other terrorist groups that were there and uh that some mexicans who actually lived in israel
16:35yes you know and they couldn't come out and the same happened the same happened
16:39uh a couple a couple a couple years ago or a year ago if i'm mistaken with india and pakistan you know
16:46where uh also i had a chance to to see one of the youtubers that i usually see of traveling that
16:54that uh he is uh from argentina and he's married to an estonian woman and uh they were together
17:03traveling and making videos in india and in pakistan and suddenly the there was like this havoc in the
17:12middle of the situation and they couldn't escape because pakistan was with the intention of attacking
17:18india or something like that and and it represents a great danger because now before going to another
17:25country you have to consider if you should in the first place you know if yeah if you do that uh you
17:33have to consider if you may not be trapped in the middle of a conflict for example if you go to
17:38europe we have the risk of russia you know russia is like really close to seize ukraine and apparently
17:46they got the intention to to go forward uh i don't know and now if you go to united states now there is
17:54like these uh super police and special forces called the eyes you know like it's really dangerous right
18:01what do you think why why traveling has become so dangerous these days
18:08yes well in my opinion i think you know with uh that it's happening right now in usa is very
18:17very dangerous because it's one of the most uh countries visited uh that the uh the people visit
18:25uh in the world but also the conflict that we have in ukraine and russia it's it's scale and other
18:36level uh because at the beginning it was only between russia and ukraine and now we have uh the europe union
18:46uh involved with in this situation uh involved with in this situation and also i remember um between
18:56china and taiwan i think so they also have a conflict uh right now uh but
19:04uh each um each um each country has uh uh their their self um conflict internal conflict and then we have
19:17the the global conflict right the economic potentials i don't know uh the new order then uh a lot of
19:26things that are happening uh right now in worldwide okay well that's that's the point well the most uh
19:36frustrating aspect is that uh many uh innocent lives of people are being affected directly uh for these
19:45conflicts i remember that you know that these days is really popular that uh well people have the chance
19:52to record everything wherever they go and uh i remember that when the conflict in russia began
20:01there was like um some videos of people in ukraine like teenagers and people who were actually
20:08watching a movie or playing a video game in a good afternoon in a good day and suddenly uh the attack
20:15began in ukraine you know and they just simply heard of the bombs and they they escaped immediately
20:22leaving everything behind and that's that's really frustrating because it makes you think you know
20:28everything for what i have worked for so for what i have worked so hard in my life
20:35can disappear in a second if a war begins you know i mean uh let's not say well the material things your
20:43house and so on but uh also the the family your life is at risk and that's and that's really that's really
20:51dangerous so i think that's that's very frustrating uh have you have you ever watched these uh
20:59documentaries from uh lethal crisis he's like in a spanish youtuber right
21:04like what's teacher sorry the criminal yeah the uh have you ever watched these um this uh youtuber
21:18whose name is lethal crisis he's from spain it's very similar to lucito comunica you know like that kind
21:26of okay yeah it's about traveling and so much but lethal crisis is very interesting because it shows
21:32you a more serious uh vision and perspective of the situation you know like he goes to visit
21:40countries were completely immersed in conflict you know and it's very interesting to see this
21:46he made a documentary about ukraine of different chapters where he documented all the situation that
21:53people were going through in that place and it's rather interesting to watch it you know i'm gonna
21:58send you uh that channel you know it's it's really good so it has a point okay yeah so it has a point here
22:12so in this case we have uh top-notch travel flights hotel car rental signing so in this case in your
22:19experience david what it's like the uh the necessary stuff or the necessary supplies that you would carry
22:29on a trip necessary stuff um for the travel world in my case i my personal um occurs for example i don't know
22:44um um uh my my my uh my i remember the name uh the tote the base tote um my brush the totes for the tits um
23:05um uh the personal care like uh desodorant um maybe we need to use uh
23:23like a toothbrush you know a deodorant
23:26sunscreen you know do you usually yeah sunscreen sunscreen in that case yes i have to use sometimes
23:39sunscreen yes uh well but stuff that the hotel has that was the question yes
23:46okay excellent excellent excellent very good so that's uh that's the point so we have uh where are you
23:55going hong kong find a hotel online reservations so what do you prefer david to make a phone call
24:02or to make an online reservation what's easier for you when when you plan to travel well in my case
24:10i prefer online reservations okay online reservations you know it's easier it's easier okay that's good and
24:19and what about checking in did you ever uh do you always go for a hotel or have you ever tried the
24:27option this new option what was the name the rbnb or something like that you know yes salarian b uh traveling
24:35uh booking uh booking uh and booking uh their option but i think it's the same airbnb or hotel but in my case
24:46uh when i have to to to to to go out another city i prefer the hotel for the comfort okay excellent very
24:57good so in this case for instance um um what is the airbnb you know because a friend of mine used
25:05it uh a couple years ago and uh and it was a new concept for me you know in which i hadn't heard
25:13of it before and she told me i'm renting an airbnb and i said well what's that yeah what's that and well
25:20she said she explained me vaguely that it was a kind of a hotel and so on but um kind of at a house
25:28if i'm not mistaken so what's exactly the airbnb could you tell me well the airbnb it's like a house
25:38uh you have the opportunity to to rent uh literally in a house a department uh maybe for a lower cost
25:49than hotel uh but you don't have the same um commodities the same comfort uh like hotel
25:58but it's a good option if you go with some friends and you want to go out uh to eat
26:10in a restaurant i don't know it could be a great option yes and also i think uh there are more um
26:20um offer and then uh for the same things could be uh cheaper than hotel okay oh that's that's a point
26:31that's that's what it is so in this case like uh it's like these small hotels that you usually rent
26:40whenever you go to the beach and your plan and you're planning to stay there for like for for the
26:47weekend or for simply uh for a simple week you know for a single week so that's that's good excellent
26:54very good so what is like the difference is is it cheaper than the hotel or does it provide you a
27:02better service what advantages or disadvantages do you think that the rvnb has
27:07well something could be cheaper than hotel but depends for example there are some airbnb's airbnb that have
27:20has a pool i don't know a garden to do some different activities on the air outside
27:35but in the case of the hotel for example i think you have the the the comfort because you have a service
27:45then they can and give you a different option you have the opportunity to eat in the same hotel
27:55um to make the bed in the morning uh different things in airbnb you have to go out for you
28:04for your food you prefer to do the same food uh you prefer could be a good option but um depends that
28:14you are what are you looking for in in each case okay excellent very good so that's that's the point so
28:23it's it depends right it depends on your necessities it depends on what you're looking for so and what
28:29about the hotels are the hotels that you usually go to are quite expensive or affordable or or are they
28:39are these paid by the company that you work for or how is like the process whenever you travel
28:48and the most part of the time uh are accessible to pay a good tariff and you you can pay you can't pass
28:59the time in the hotel um close from the from the center from the town um could be a good option but
29:10uh in the case of the tell uh in my case for example i i prefer it um because also we have the
29:20it to to to rent a car or they they have sometimes that we move from the hotel uh to the airport free
29:34sometimes so in this case could be a good option you have a restaurant in the same hotel you have the
29:41service the room service you have a lot of stuff uh commodities so a lot of uh comfortable options
29:51to rest in the hotel okay that's uh that's the point so in this case uh well the hotels uh i think or
30:02i have the perception that the hotels give you uh um a more detailed warranty in the in the terms of the
30:10services that you receive but that's that's okay you know i mean it depends on how how picky you are you
30:17know at the moment of going to a hotel or to an airbnb there are different different options so in this
30:23case we have the room type so we have single double or a suite so um what uh what is like your preferred
30:32option whenever you you travel david a single uh room type a double room type or a suite
30:40well in my case uh it's always is a single sometimes could be double but always it's a single because
30:51i'm uh the most part of the time i travel alone okay excellent very good so that's a single perfect
31:01that we have the choose a type of bet we have a twin bet uh queen size bet uh king size or a roll away
31:10you know i think we're always really practical but what is your option of your of your choice david
31:15well my option could be queen size queen size yes so that's like uh like a medium you know like a
31:30medium size because i think the 20 is very small the king size is excessively big and the roll away well
31:37it's it's uh like uh well for practicity options you know that's good so then we have choose hotel services
31:48and facilities we have free airport shuttle wireless internet service pool and sauna in room minibar 24 hour
31:58room service a gift shop business center laundry service shoeshine service fitness exercise center wake up
32:09service and bail luggage service and to check availability on the services so usually whenever you go to a hotel
32:18um how um how many of these services do you have um at hand to choose um and for example my case
32:35um
32:38also we have the 24 hours room service uh laundry service
32:44so we have the 24 hours on picnic and exercise center so we call me my options
32:55excellent so that's the point so what about the uh for example the shoeshine service have you ever
33:04taken that service do you consider it useful
33:07what option teacher sorry the uh this one in the third column that says shoeshine shoeshine service you
33:19know like i don't know if you could usually have a person that actually helped you to
33:25to make the shoeshine yeah shoeshine service
33:28uh-huh you shine service well in my case hey i never i have this this service in the hotel i don't remember
33:37one but this uh shoeshine service
33:43let me check but i don't remember if i have this this service in the past excellent brigands shoeshine service
33:53i don't remember that either you know i mean i think that that uh shoeshine it's uh well it's a good
34:01service you know i think it's a good service that you can uh that you can have and uh and uh
34:10the thing is that not many people these days are using the type of shoes that you would commonly need
34:17to to to shine you know like to clean in using this service i've seen that even in casual or in business
34:26in business outfits people are going for shoes that are more comfortable and less and less uh flashy
34:35you know less less expensive uh unless you are like a kind of a businessman that you are that you are
34:42wearing a pair of shoes that that you really need to look extremely well like i don't know a politician
34:49or someone like that uh it could be a possibility but on the other hand i've seen that most of um
34:57most of uh people that actually like to to to dress casual they're using a more comfortable type of
35:04shoes and that's a great advantage because personally i usually personally i used to hate
35:11those type of shoes that were extremely shiny you know because they got dirty so easily and they were
35:18so tight sometimes so now uh companies and uh and stores are making shoes that are way more comfortable
35:28than what they used to to to manufacture before you know than than what they used to be before
35:35and that's a great advantage i think however my preference is always to wear sneakers you know i like
35:43to wear sneakers i mean like sporting sporting shoes i mean that i think that they're very comfortable or
35:51like like boots you know like casual boots you know those are very comfortable to walk to
35:58to to walk around sometimes to run or to play basketball personally i like to play basketball so
36:05i i think that's that's the way to go right so that's good but it's good to have like different
36:11options for different situations you know like different shoes uh i hadn't considered that uh until this
36:18point you know but i think that that women have a really good a really good sense of shoes they have
36:25shoes for for every occasion you know which on the country uh we do not have uh we don't tend to have so
36:33many options right well personally you know that's that's the point excellent very good so
36:40then we have a pool and sauna right pool and sauna do you usually like to have that service in your hotel
36:48david like pool and sauna yes sometimes the chair is a good option to take um to relax and pass the time
36:59there yes i prefer something to use it okay excellent very good pool and sauna so out of these services that
37:08we have listed down below is there any of the services that you would never ever choose or that you don't like
37:20then point a teacher a single room a double room or what uh what options
37:31like uh uh like uh any of these options that you never that you never use or that you
37:37dislike yes yes yes i i i understand teacher um for example in my case i never use uh the wake-up service
37:48um they give shots neither uh and also the bell luggage service what is that the bill
38:01oh bell luggage okay well there is a person standing on the standing at the entrance and he's holding a
38:12bell or sometimes he's cold using a bell and he uh um he comes uh close to you to help you to uh to carry your
38:23luggage um okay okay nice i go new it's also new for me yeah yeah it's like uh i haven't seen them uh
38:36very often but uh especially not here in mexico but i think that it's a little bit more common to see
38:42them in the united states or in europe or in very very fancy hotels where where um where they are standing
38:50at the front of the at the front of the hotel at the entrance at the very entrance so whoever arrives
38:57to the hotel uh the luggage service is called with a bell and they immediately move towards the customer
39:07in order to help him carry his or her luggage to the hall or to the room right
39:14so i think that's gonna be uh a more expensive service you know i mean that's gonna be a more
39:22expensive service and usually you would you would give a tip to them you know like some extra money
39:27to them like like a tip you know because they're helping you to carry your luggage
39:31yes yes every yeah i remember movies you know i've seen those in movies they're very uh it's very
39:40common to see them in movies excellent and very good so do we have for example a business center you
39:45know i don't i don't uh um i don't know exactly what a business center is do you know what that is
39:52a business center in a hotel well i think it's a a center to to work there it's very useful
40:01when you have to to send some emails or if you need to connect to to a monitor to have a better
40:11option to work in your laptop i think it's a it's a good option because i mean also it's very calm
40:19to take uh to take calls in this in this place or maybe include when you have a meeting with some
40:30um customer with some client you can use it this these areas okay okay excellent very good so that
40:39we have different areas here uh different like to have a conference right a lecture indicates that
40:45you're traveling with more colleagues or or co-workers right or your boss your supervisor
40:51uh although it must be stressing to travel with a supervisor don't you think right yes yes i agree
41:00teacher it would have to be like very uh frustrating you know like to have someone who is always watching
41:06on you you know i think i would have that sensation right so that's good excellent very good so that we
41:12have so we're gonna make like a short description here to practice a little bit uh so david i would
41:19like that uh for the first week you could write like two paragraphs about okay one with your best
41:26experience your best experience your best experience in a hotel you know the like the best of the best uh the time that
41:33you went there for vacation or the time that you uh that you met a person there perhaps or or
41:42uh the the time that you had a chance to visit such a beautiful place that you that you didn't want to
41:49leave from there or um you know like a very good experience that you had you know like a superb
41:56experience that you had and on the contrary you're gonna write a paragraph about the worst you know
42:03the worst experience that you had in one of the hotels in which you said you know what i wouldn't uh i
42:10wouldn't like to not only to come back not only not to come back to this hotel but i but i would never ever
42:17come back to this place state or country or city you know that that would be very interesting to read
42:25and i would really like that you could share it uh in in whatsapp what do you think okay teacher yes
42:35so in any case that you may have some uh some uh questions of uh uh at the moment of making an idea
42:43or anything like that uh let me know i'm gonna send you this vocabulary try to use some of these
42:51on your description because i think i think that's uh that's gonna be very useful let's let's send it
42:59right here vocabulary and uh let me see if i send it to the uh correct group so that's uh that's gonna be
43:08the point right so we will be discussing about these to see what uh what possibilities do we have
43:16there and we are going to study a dialogue to compare the vocabulary that is being used right here
43:24so do you have any other questions david so far no teacher thank you okay excellent very good thanks to
